Simply the Best
THE PATHFINDER IS ONE SMOOTH RIDING SUV THAT IS FUN TO DRIVE IN ALL WEATHER RAIN SLEET SNOW OR SHINE !!
Great SUV
I bought the vehicle on the first of February in 2002. I have found the SUV to be quite powerful on acceleration. The suspension is very tight with no road rattles or squeaks to be heard. Of course there is a small amount of road noise due to the 17 inch agressive tires. I found the exterior paint to be flawless. This was not true of the 2 Hondas that I own. The interior was just as nice.

2002 Pathfinder LE Blows the Others Away
I just picked up my 2002 Pathfinder LE 2WD this weekend and couldn't be more pleased. After driving a 1999 Pathfinder LE for three years, I decided to shop the competition & nothing compared. The Pathfinder is clearly a superior product at a bargain price. The fit, finish, build quality and reliability are second to none. Interior materials and design are first rate. The cabin is comfortable and quiet while the ride quality rivals some sedans. The 240 hp 3.5 liter engine is exceptional and makes driving the SUV a blast. The six disc in dash Bose unit is phenomenal. Nissan has done a great job keeping an aging design fresh while continually improving the product.
2002 Nissan Pathfinder LE 4x4
Coming from a 98 Explorer, I can't believe the difference in ride quality. The Explorer beats you to death while driving. On the other hand the Pathfinder is as smooth as any CAR out there. The engine is powerful and smooth and the transmission shifts very smoothly. It also holds its value much better than the domestics.
Solid Feel SUV
Feels very solidly built. Interior not as cheap feeling as others. Does feel narrow though and rear seat could be larger. Horsepower very good. Steering tight making it easy to drive. Buying experience not good, very slick dealerships.
Pathy or Pilot?
For new SUV buyers, you probably are thinking Honda Pilot coming out in 06/02. Well, I do love Honda (I have a civic), but I think Pathy will be my choice even I seldom go-off road. Pathy has better balance of everything for a SUV comparing to Pilot. I don't have any problems for 37,000 miles now. Great SUV for its below 30K price. I'm a faculty member in mechanical engineering.
Towing with a Manual Clutch
I bought a new Pathfinder SE 4WD with stick this year. Next I bought a horse. With 240hp, I knew I had plenty of power to tow a double horse trailer with two horses. Not true. Did you know that the manual transmission is rated at 3500 lbs. towing capacity while the auto is rated at 5000 lbs. ? Go figure ! What can I do ?
One of the Best SUV's there is
i went car shopping and i new i wanted a suv but did not know what kind. i looked at the 2002 Honda cr-v. bad move the cr-v is cheep looking. it should be called a car not suv what a joke. i looked at the pathfinder and it is the best suv in the snow, rain, sun. i will always get a NISSAN PATHFINDER
Just bought it
The interior options sold us. Excellent sound system and leather interior. Very well thought out displays. Very powerful 6 cylinder engine. Larger body than I expected, but still manageable. Not much price negotiation, (I guess it's popular enough that the dealer doesn't have to negotiate much.)
Very Much A Mixed Bag
Bought my LE in Jan.02. Looks great, well thought out interior features, great engine, nice Bose stereo, but it rides like a buckboard, has pitiful headroom, and has garnered nothing but complaints from my family about backseat room, comfort, and ease of ingress/egress.Took it in because "service engine soon"light was on. Now after my 5th trip back to the dealer, it's finally fixed.
Great rig
Bought this new and thought it was fine. After 6 years of only doing minimal maintenance, this thing rocks. With limited slip diff and old fashioned 4x4 (which I prefer), this thing can plow thru any snow and even does better than most others trucks/SUVs in icy conditions. Just get some good aggressive tires for offroading or deep snow.
One Super SUV
Second Pathfinder in the family, first for me, a 2002 SE with the roof and POP options. After 22 years of Honda ownership, with the new Pilot not offering the roof or outside thermometer, I jumped to Nissan and couldn't be more pleased. Bayshore blue color a little weird at first but really grows on you and gets lots of compliments. Car is solid, a gas to drive, no bad news here.
Has been a good SUV
Enjoyed leasing this SUV... Gets smaller as the family grows!!!!!! Very dependable SUV, never had a problem.
First SUV and loving it
I bought a 4x4 2002 Pathfinder LE. This is the first SUV that I have owned. My previous car was a 1992 Lexus GS300, and I don't miss it. While the Pathfinder is certainly not a Lexus the ride is comfortable and the drive is very simular to a car. I have taking the Pathfinder off road once up in Malibu and it was a rush - after I got half way into it I realized I was dinking around with a new car so I slowed it down, but it was fun. The Pathfinder was able to hadle the trails very well. The milage I have gotton around town is about 14MPG and hwy has been about 17MPG. I test drove just about everything else out there and I am very pleased with the decision so far.
Love it
Just bought a new Pathfinder LE 4wd with black leather, hitch, and bike rack. I love this vehicle. It has a smooth drive and is very comfortable. I was also looking at the Highlander, but decided that I could get more fun from the pathfinder for less $$ (6-disc in dash, bose sound, more towing capacity, and the ability to kick in 4WD h/l). i couldn't be happier and got the PF for 700 less than invoice! Can't wait to drive it more!
I love it
It is a nice SUV with car like ride, comfort and handling. I don't regret buying this vechile.
scratched paint
Picked up my Pathfinder. Took off the wind deflector for the sunroof that can with the vehicle( I don't like them or the look. It was all scratched underneath. A little disappointed at the fools that installed it. They did a good job messing up the Sherwood Green paint, right to the metal(and not just a little). Bringing it back to dealership, after having it 1 day. Other than that. It's no sedan (previouesly owned a 2001 V6 Accord EX), but I knew that before my fiance and I traded our cars in for one automobile.
pathfinder
excellent vehicle! i own 8 cars and enjoy the 260 bhp nissan best! 5-speed manual makes this a very fun suv to drive. 0 defects...try that w a blazer, liberty, expoder, etc...
Good SUV
I bought The Pathfinder because it was praised on here, and I'm glad I did. It drives well, runs quiet, and hasn't given me major problems yet. I bought mine with 134,000 miles on it, but they are mostly highway miles. She gets around 15-16 MPG, but I'm trying to get her to around 20 or so. Probably going to add a K&N cold air intake soon. Changing your own oil can be kinda a drag too, being that the oil filter is underneath the semi-skid plate.
Great Nissan!
I brought my nissan used with 22000 miles on it and its been trouble free great power averge fuel economy and styish SUV! BUY ONE!!!!!!!
I love IT
I bought my Nissan a few month ago and I would have to say there is nothing about that disappoints me. I live in Great Falls Montana. It has been below zero temperatures. There is not a block heater on my Nissan and yet it has started every time.
Natedog loves his Pathfinder
My first new automobile, and I went with the Pathfinder. I fell in love with it the first time I test drove it. I love everything on it, the interior, the conservative yet classy styling, and most of all the realiability. My dislikes are the pricetag for the LE wich I got, and the brakes seem a little jumpy. I looked at a lot of SUV's, but like I said this one by far was the best. It seemed like the Nissan dealer wouldnt go down much on price as would the Chevy dealer or Ford dealer, I guess the car sells itself.
Gasline
Engine performance and quality comfort ride. Good edition spare tires located underneath provides good handling, powerful efficient torque. Smooth ride and easy to handle, whether off and on the road. A fighter for the Japanese engine makers with sytlish audio of the American fervor. A better tandem deal with the 4 Runners.
Almost Perfect
I have owned 4 pathfinders. A 1993,1997,2001, and now a 2002 LE 4WD, purchased in February. The 2002 is by far the best car I have ever owned. It has plenty of HP and speed. The engine is enjoyable after about 5K miles. Why? I don't know. My only complaint is that the rear seats are uncomfortable as is taking things in and out of the rear seating area (car seats).
Has been as advertised
I purchased my '02 Pathfinder LE w/36k miles a year ago. Traded a BMW 3 series because we needed something a little bigger. Did not want another "new" car note so pursued '02 and '03 Pathfinder, QX4, or 4-Runner. Narrowed to these 3 after reading multiple reviews on this site. I now have 53K on it and knock on wood have had no issues. Pathfinder has great pickup for an SUV and is easy to drive in town and comfortable on the highway. At 1/2 the cost of a new one I have been very pleased with this vehicle and would recommend it.
An excellent *sport* *utility* vehicle
An excellent vehicle with lots of towing power. Has better acceleration with our 3500lb boat than our last vehicle had without the boat. Very strong and smooth engine, no other vehicle compares in this category. Wish it was a little bigger and had load leveling in the rear - the back suspension is a little soft. Back seat doors are a little tough to get in & out. After 12000 miles I'm still very happy with my carefully made decision. Comfortable - decent trip vehicle. Stock tires hydroplane easily.
First Pathfinder
I tried the Explorer, Grand Cherokee, and others (even the non- truck SUVs,these are fine if you don't need the capabilities of a truck). I found the Pathfinder SE to be the best overall value (excellent reliabilty record was a big factor). The build is solid and of high quality. I have had it 3 weeks and I like it more each time I drive it. $1000 under invoice and 0.9 financing didn't hurt, either!
great suv, but....
This has been a great vehicle so far. Gas mileage is terrible though. I got the fully loaded suv with the navigation system, and entertainment system. The bose sound system in this model w/ the navigation is weak. The entertainment is neat though. overall a good vehicle. Power is great, and it will keep up with or beat mustangs w/ v6's.
Best SUV
This is the best SUV for the money. I had a number of GM SUVs and the Nissan quality is superior. Great power, quiet, and stylish. Only real drawback is the gas mileage. The resale value is also outstanding compared to any American SUV. For a few thousand more, get the LE - the added features are well worth it. I'm sold on Nissans.
Pathfinders for life
My first SUV experience has been a excellent one thanks to my Pathfinder. Good feel and feedback on the road as long as tires are properly balanced. Great cabin appointments including leather. Front seat could be a tad larger for my liking. No problems with rear seat fold down as suggested by Edmunds; and rear seat has ample room. Love the Bose stereo too. Rear springs could be a little stiffer for carrying loads.
Great car
Rides great. 240 horsepower really does the job!!! Pay up for the sunroof and leather packages. best misize SUV on the raod...
02 PathFinder LE 4x4
This vehicle has a solid feel to it. Performance is excellent.
Like my PF LE but...
Love the size of the PF as it's l&w are comparable to most midsize cars. Acceleration is good. Steering is secure. Handling great with the AUTO feature. Fun to fishtail in RWD mode. The interior is better than other non- luxury SUVs. It gets bouncy. Some squeaks and rattles, but most fixed. Nissan Customer service is poor. Consider a 1 year old Infiniti, especially in LA, where name plates count. Also the warranty is 1 year longer and the service is excellent
2002 Pathfinder
The 2002 Nissan Pathfinder is a force to be wreckend with. Its an excellent perfomer-on and off-road. Great SUV!!!
2002 Nissan SE 4wd
I love my pathfinder! Very fun to drive, reliable and great performance. Only complaints:1.quality of cloth -- not terribly bad but it getting worn fast. Also, the because beige in color, shows stains. Recommend leather or dark cloth. Always replace brakes at the dealer. I made a mistake of getting brakes at one of those discount stores and their brakes do not hold up well
The 2 G's, Good Looking&Gas Guzzler
Folks, this vehicle is everything everyone claims it to be, no wonder its the Editors choice. I test drove several of its competitors and for my money this is your best midsize SUV on the market today. In fact, my wife loves this vehicle so much she won't drive her car SO now I'm going to have to buy another one for me. Give this one a look!!!
Fun Utility
Very powerful engine. Decent handling vehicle, excellent for an SUV. Lots of fun to drive. It seems smaller than I expected inside, but we traded in a minivan. Rear suspension was a little soft for towing 4500 lbs. But the engine is mighty and the brakes are good. Stock suspension is very car-like when not towing. I installed some air-lift suspension helpers and all is good.
Fantastic SUV
I've own a ford and a dodge Suv's. They don't even come close to the QUALITY of the Pathfinder.
Fun to Drive but tight for big guys.
The 2002 Pathfinder is definitely fun to drive, especially with the newer and more powerfull engine. I have a 4WD LE with everything except the entertainment unit and Navigation system. The drive is smooth, comfortable and fun. The only drawback is the lack of head room, which decreases about another 1 to 1 1/2 inches with the moon roof. It's very tight for anyone over 6'.
The Best SUV u can get
I just purchased a 2002 Pathfinder SE 2wd, Bronzed Grey. The ride is spectacular. I've test drove other suv's. I.e. Rodeo, 30 less hp. Truck like ride. 4runner, same thing, overpriced, slow 183hp engine. Highlander, Waaayyy too expensive, and only 220hp, FWD. I love everything about this car.
One great SUV
Bought this Pathy 2 months ago with 47K on the ticker. This is my second 4x4 Nissan (first was a D21 Hardbody) and by far the best. This truck is solid, reliable and MORE than capable off road. The 4WD system/limited slip work perfectly together. On road the truck is sturdy, easy and very fun to drive. Interior space is wonderful; having the fold-flat rear seats is a great feature as well. Overall, an EXCELLENT value and even better truck!
Safe & Comfort
I like this SUV very dependable, the feel seem to me that I'm safe while driving this Suv during any kind of weather. I don't thank that can be said about other Suv.
Great SUV
I've had this 2 years. The main pro's are the excellent comfort, handling and reliability. It handles like a car, or the 4-runner. Checked out the Explorer, and this feels a lot safer cornering. Looks are very good, the Bose Sound system is excellent and it never has any issues. Mileage is average at 17 MPG for me. It has plenty power for overtaking, and is always just big enough to fit bikes, and camping gear or furniture. Overall - My only complaint is the gas mileage, which has improved on the newer model. This is a great SUV, and a lot better value than the 4-runner which enjoys somewhat of a cult status. Well worth the money.
great!
i love this car.
Best in its CLASS
This is the best SUV I test drove and bought. I tried various others like the rip off 4Runner - which has no power and the Grand Cherokee had no power either plus a bad consumer reliability report. The Pathfinder is awesome with a lot of power and great style plus a lot of fun to drive!!!
Great Suv
I have had my Pathfinder for just over 2 years now. The only problem I had was an o2 sensor that was replaced at the dealership at no charge. Wish gas milage was better but then again i'm in a SUV. It dependable and it looks good and not everybody is driving around in one. Would recommend it to anyone.
Great Buy!
WHAT A GREAT BUY! WE HAD TEST DRIVEN PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING IN ITS CLASS, AND STILL KEPT COMING BACK TO THE NISSAN! BEST BUY, GREAT INCENTIVES, LOTS OF EXTRA GOODIES!
I love it!
Bought my 02 Le 4/04. I love it!!! The price was right. WAY more power than the S/C Xterra and the 2000 and older Pathfinders. Every option I could want, rides nice for a SUV. Luxurious fit and finish for a reasonable price. Nissan quality is great.
Great Car if you are under 6' tall
We haven't quite had it a month yet, but we love it. One thing, well maybe two. I am 6'3" tall and weigh over 250 (Relatively muscular 250) and it is a snug fit. My legs are pretty cramped and there is not a lot of room on the sides. I know it is one of the stronger V6 motors for this size vehicle, but the mileage is pretty week. I have a big V8 Chevy truck and it gets just a few miles less per gallon.
Great SUV...the greatest...
Car-like riding... style...strong engine and great handling...best SUV under $30K ...
