Great new, but not wearing well
Bought this car new in Fall '08. I was a fan of the Nissan line, and this car seemed a good value. Yet, fit and finish and wear has been a source of pain and expense. I would not recommend, wished I'd bought something different (and paid more), and won't be buying any more Nissans in the future.

CVT transmission is trash
As much as I love the looks, comfort, roominess, and handling of my Murano, I can promise I will never own another. Every single thing I’ve had repaired has been rediculously expensive. My alternator was $1300.00, my battery and spark plugs came to $1100.00, and now my CVT transmission has gone out and they are telling me at the Nissan dealership it will cost $5000.00 to replace. They only guarantee it for one year or 60,000 miles. All these expenses have broke me from ever buying any kind of Nissan ever again. All this plus front brake rotors that were $450.00 happened between 95,000-129,000 miles. My 1999 Ford Explorer is still going on it’s original transmission, alternator, and starter at 248,000 miles. Nissans used to be a great car that lasted forever, not anymore.

SUV of the year
If you like style then you have to see the Murano, SL, or LE. This SUV is perfect, not too big and not too small. Drives like a car, so smooth on long trips, quality cabin upgrades. I'm warning you if you drive one you will buy one. I did and love it. Got it fully loaded with everything but Navigation on my 2009.
Too many recalls
I fell in love with the 2007 Murano, and when read about the 2009 I waited 3 months to purchase the new sleek 2009. I even paid full MSRP to get the right color and style I wanted. But it has been one service visit after another. 2 recalls, 1 for reprogramming the airbags, and 1 for the repairing the clock. This last visit, there seems to be a air leak that is a known issue in Muranos, but since the car is so new, the parts to replace are not yet being manufactured, so the service department returned my car and asked me to wait for the recall notice to fix. How disappointing.
