I got this car through a trade, I traded my 1968 ford custom 2dr sedan for another land boat. :P I wanted comfort, a heater, and a decent sound system, which I got. Lovingly named Martha, she isn't that fast, the 4 speed does the engine no justice at all, the gas mileage is awful but you get a lot of torque. The torque how ever on any slick surface dry, wet, or icy with send your back wheels spinning and/or you sliding. Cant begin to tell you how many times I've power slide into a lane as I pull out into traffic, I probably looks cool on the outside, but scares the bejeebers out of me. I only replaced, the alternator, headlight switch and blinker switch. Bad: Acceleration/speed and mpg

The 1990 Mercury grand Marque is one of the best cars I've ever owned. With the police package and after market 2 1/2 duel exhaust with flowmasters, she was no boat. At 60 to 75 mph dropping your foot to the floor would wake up any nodding off passengers. The pull at that speed would rival many new performance cars. With the four speed transmission used in these cars is strong and worry free. The 302 v8 (mine was the high output model like the 5.0 GT) speaks for its self being used in many of Ford's faster cars. It was and still is one of Ford's better motors. The millage I got depended how how I drove. But around town I averaged around 18 to 20 mpg. While on the road using the cruise control I'd get around 26 to 28 mpg. The ride was phenomenal. I can't count how many times I've driven from Phoenix to L.A. and get out of the car and feel like I just got off the couch. Smooth, quiet and a pure joy to drive. Good road feel with quality workmanship makes this car (in my opinion) the King of the Road. I now own a 2002 olds and wish every day I never sold my old Merc. She is still going strong at 30 years old. My best friend owes her now and she is an every day driver still. Signed: missing my ol friend in Phoenix.
