I owned a MPV 1991 before. For my next van, seat management was hign on my list. There are only 2 models with the third row folding in the car (wonder why they don't all have this feature). In my case, the Odyssey was too big. I park the van in my garage. There is one area of concern which is the motor. So far, I'm please with the Ford Duratech performance. Maybe they can spend some time about reducing fuel consumption.

I have experienced problems with the transmission of this vehicle. When it automatically shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear it slams into gear. The more passengers you have the bigger this problem becomes. Mazda knows about the issue and is currently trying to work on a fix, however the past 4 months have been unpleasant. Still waiting.... The dealer claims they have 3 other vans with the same problem.

Between me and my wife we have to fight who gets it to go to work. New V6 engine great 200 hp. all I need it has plenty of power for city or highway for any normal family. The size is perfect for 7 passengers normally we have 3 or 4 but we have had seven once . So if you need to always move a ton of people or 50 sheets or dry wall buy a larger van you will be happier. We liked the MPV Mazda features like the power rear windows and the fold down rear seat, and the modern looks. My wife has a two year old Protoge' and has been perfect so far.

Bought our '03 LX in late 03 when they had great rebates. This van has done it all for us. It tows a popup camper (our LX has the tow package), hauls the kids AND the grandparent thanks to the 3 row seats and has conquered the New England winters. We also like the size (a bit smaller than the Honda, Toyota). No serious mechanical problems, all the little things were covered under warranty. V6 had plenty of power and is rides very well on the highway. Do yourself a favor and check out the used MPVs - they are a bargain!!

I bought this van brand new. Two deer have totaled out the front quarter, it is a little top heavy and dangerous on water, but for the most part if you put water tires on it that fixes the problem. I am upset that they discontinued the van.
