Used 2021 Mazda CX-5 SUV Consumer Reviews
Mazda does not honor their warranty
I took my 2021 CX-5 to Hanover Mazda dealership's service department because my reputable mechanic found oil leaking from the bell housing area of the engine. I am still under the 5 year, 60,000 mile Mazda power train warranty. I provided the service department with documented proof from my mechanic that my vehicle has an active oil leak in the bellhousing, which IS COVERED under the Mazda warranty. The service department claimed they did an inspection and found that the leak (so they admitted there is a leak) is not SEVERE enough to do the repair. What do they want, the car to leak a river of oil before they honor the warranty? Can you imagine! I have a fairly new car under warranty that has an oil leak due to no fault of mine and this service department refuses to honor Mazda's warranty! OUTRAGIOUS!!! I have owned 4 Mazda’s in the past 30 years (4 vehicles) which shows my loyalty to Mazda and this is how this dealership treats it's customers! A very loyal Mazda customer at that. How SHAMEFUL! I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I am escalading my complaint to Mazda HQ until I get them to honor the warranty Mazda provides its customers when you purchase one of their new vehicles. Based on my experience, I would not do business with this dealership Or buy another Mazda since they are untrustworthy and do not honor Mazda's warranty! This experience has soured me on Mazda's and if they treat one of their loyal customers this way I would never purchase another Mazda. Shame of this dealership!

Disappointed in New England
I bought the car used in July 2024. Just got rid of it one year to the day! It looks sharp, has nice features, excellent headlights. I liked the mpg about 28 on the turbo. Easy to park as it’s not a huge suv. Getting in and out is easy. The rear hatch space is meager. All things you know when you look at the car. First, I hated the low quality paint. Really poor quality and I haven’t experienced this with other brands. Second, Within two weeks of buying the car, I ended up with two cracks in my windshield. I think the angle or shape of the windshield is the reason, because I don’t tailgate or drive down crazy roads. Third, The key fob batteries constantly need to be replaced. In addition, the quality of the key fob is chintzy. The car had ventilated seats, but the perforations for it don’t extend to the end so it only feeds sub adequate. I disliked the transmission shifting. Recently, the oil light would pop on. Never don’t that before, it’s a no it 2500 since the oil was changed at the dealership. When i would check the dipstick, it would be between the mix and max. Not in any zone of concern, just something to be aware of. The backseat is fine, but I heard it’s not great with car seats. Good thing I don’t have kids. The driving experience was just ok. My previous front wheel drive accord did better in the winter than the Mazda. The back end of the car felt like it would fishtail even over normal railroad crossings. The car didn’t inspire confidence.Buying the car, I had high hopes as it was built in Japan. I think the car is good for some folks, but I see a lot of others who have experienced the same gripes. Read reviews and go onto Reddit to see what other owners have experienced. I think Mazda makes great cars, I just wish they would make sure everything is of high quality before they send out cars that have notable engine and transmission failure. Brakes felt weak. I got my car serviced before I had to drive kids on a class trip. Making sure it was all safe and ready to go. They said plenty of brake life left. No areas of concern. And I do believe them because they could have easily said it needs work, as they are a car dealership in the business of making money. The brakes just lacked confidence. I didn’t want to be one of those statistics. One year and one day was enough time to give it a chance. I really wanted to love the Mazda, but the spark was never there. Dealership was excellent for service (Montpelier VT). Insurance cost was on par with other cars I have owned.
