my 929 has 220k miles on it
I bought it used with a few miles on it and drove it for many years. I did replace the engine once. The radiator ruptured and the car overheated. The mechanics said because it was an aluminum block it was warped because of the heat and had to be replaced. It was expensive (even with an engine from the parts yard) but the car has been good since then. I've had to replace a few things (timing belt, starter, water pump, power window regulator), but with mileage this high I'm sure this is to be expected. Overall a very good car. Very comfortable, very quiet. I just test drove a Lexus ES300 to replace the 929 and I was not impressed. I just don't think I can put too many more miles on it.
Best overall performing vehicle owned
This has been the most reliable car I have owned. Previous vehicle were 3 Chryslers (1976 Cordoba,1980 New Yorker, 1992 Lebaron Convertible) 2 Cadillacs (1982 Seville,1988 Eldorado) I drive cars for several years and this vehicle has required only oil changes & routine maintenance (new battery, filters etc. The handling is excellent and ride is smooth and quiet.
I love this car
This has been an excellent vehicle for me. It has been very reliable and is the nicest car I have ever owned. The car has 190,000 miles on it and is still doing well. I am considering trading it in this year (2008). The ride is very comfortable, has decent power and handling, however the gas mileage is not the best. The struts are in need of replacement but the rest of the car is in good shape. The only repairs that the car has needed was an oil leak at the valve cover area - only 400.00 to repair. Apart from tires and general maintenance it has been fine. One complaint is the construction of the front door panels - made from plastic and have been slowly falling apart for a couple of years
929 - Good choice
179,000 miles and no sign of dying. I am a salesman and drive around most of Oklahoma for work. My 929 looks good and rides well. The Nissan Altima it replaced was reliable also, but was a stagecoach compared to the smooth V-6 and luxury ride. Quirks include: smallish trunk, no glove box, no tilt wheel. Not deal breakers. I get 22 MPG on regular unleaded and don't spend much time in the shop. When necessary ... parts can be high. Rarely are they necessary - in 6 years I've replaced the starter, belts, 2 shocks, timing belt, spark plug wires and had the tranny worked on (about $1500). Of course, tires and other soft parts also. Ain't bad for the 100,000 miles I've had it.
Still miss the nine
I purchased this car in the 2000 with 126, 000 miles on it. The car was like new, not lying. I love the size and room of this vehicle. It's the most interesting and best looking interior on car I've had, with chrome accents and light blue leather interior. I departed with this vehicle at 277, 000 miles in 2006. It was traded in for the 2000 Infiniti Q45t I still have. I still love that model 929 and express a moment of excitement when I see a well maintained one on the road. UPDATE: I acquired a beautiful 1994 929 in the year 2000 with 110,000 miles. It had a beautiful light blue leather and chrome interior and the exterior was a beautiful light blue. The car was a champ. I traded it in 2007 with 288,000 miles. The only thing replaced during that time was one starter, one radiator, set of spark plugs and set of spark plug wires.

929 is Excellent
Bought used and are second owners. The 929 is the most responsive car we have owned; you are riding in it not having to drive it. Reliable and mechanically sound; have owned for almost 2 years now and predict another 80K miles of life to go. Engine is perfect even after 12 years. Only repair is AC. Nice looking lines to car exterior. Leather seats in almost new condition and other interior parts in same almost new condition.
1995 Mazada 929
Very Low Maintenance. Still has the look of a high-end luxury car.
Most dependable car I have had
This car has been great, since iI bought it 1 year ago, it hasn't give me any problems. It is a smooth ride and comfortable. I enjoy driving; my car is a 1995 but looks and feels like a 2006 the way it drives and the way it looks.
Great Reliable Car
Very well built with no rpairs other than normal maintenance in 8 years.
Great Car
This car is a great car. It is big yet quick and responsive. It's a sport sedan that emphazises the sportiness. It now has 93,000 miles on it, and it still drives great. The transmission has needed a few repairs but overall it has been very good. I definetly recommend it to people who want a car that is fun to drive
929
One of the most reliable cars I have ever owned! I have 150,000 miles on mine. Have driven it on long hauls all over. The car makes you proud to have one everytime you glance at it. Can put so much luggage in it and still it looks empty. Have never had any major repairs only tune ups!
I would buy another new one if available
I purchased this car new from my local Mazda dealership. The only complaint I have had is that the there is no tilt steering wheel available.I love the ride, design and overall appearance and performance of the car. I would purchase a new one without any hesitation if Mazda still made this model.
Best Car ever
One of the best cars i have ever seen. Luxurious, safe and stable.
excellent car
This is a very well built car. I have driven it on short, medium, and long distances and would not hesitate to buy another if I could. The car handles well, has good horsepower and the engine is phenomenal! great car to own!
929
Excellent car, but built quality is not as fine as other luxury car (e.g. lexus)
Good Car
This is really a timeless vehicle and has held up great over the many years. I can't believe it looks so great for its age, I would never had guessed the car's a 93 when looking at the exterior. It's fast reliable and just an all around great car. The only problems I've had are that the seat belts fell apart, windows occasionally don't work and some electric problems with brake lights. Inner door handles are plastic and broke so now I have to roll down window to open the door.
Fast, fun car
My 929 was off the chain. It was a gift from my parents on my 17th birthday and I just passed it down to my sister when I went off to college. I like to describe my car as the car that can do anything. I've taken it off road, through water, and even on sidewalks! I would love to buy this car brand new if they still made it.
SELL 94 929 MAZDA
THIS HAS BEEN FREE OF ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS SINCE OWNING.
The Real Reveal
Owned since new. These model series 929s have arguably the best style of any auto on the road. Mine has chrome wheels and to this day, I still receive compliments. People can not believe it is a 94 model. These cars are under valued on the market and represent great values. MPG is 20 in town and 24 on the road with premium gas.
Couldn't ask for better..
Wonderful car, except for interior space. No glove compartment as has often been remarked. I wish they'd make it again. Bought it used as sixty thou. miles; only trouble was balky sunroof.
A near classic
Bought it used: absolutely no mechanical problems for last 40,ooo miles.(sunroof can be problematical. Not really spacious enough, and no glove box is an annoyance (as noted by others. Still one of the best looking cars on the road.
1994 Mazda 929
I'm now going on seven years with this car and have thoroughly enjoyed it. At its time it was considered a luxury full-sized car. You sit lower than most in it - your legs go more forward than down. The styling is first rate - sometimes described as Japanese Jaguaresque. Very comfortable to ride in. As others have remarked there's no glove box or tilt steering wheel - minor inconveniences. I only wish Mazda would revisit this car and provide a technologically updated version.
One of the best cars I've ever had.
I bought the car in the summer of '97 with only 28k on the odometer. I've just turned over 67k and runs like a top (yeah I know, super low miles whatya expect). It's been my "go to work car" mostly, with occasional road trips when my other rides are in use. Fantastic ride on the highway, reliable, economical, powerful and fast. What more could you want? Oh yeah, drop dead good looks. On the down side parts are hard to find and when you get 'em boy do you pay a price for them. I live in the southeast, my dealer has checked for used parts and they are not available. All the good parts have already been salvaged so I gotta bite the bullet and get factory new$$. In the long run it's worth it.
excellent
vehicle is in excellent condition with omly a s,mall ding to the right front door and a small scrape to the right front bumper.
Perfomance
Excelent car at all!
my experience with the Mazda 929
I have had this vehicle for seven years and it has been a good car--had to replace the radiator due to a blown hose and a few other things, but overall it has driven nicely.
Amazing
My Mazda 929 is the best car I've ever had. It's better than most 07s now days. I haven't had any problems out of it yet. It has the feel of a sports car and the looks of a luxury car. It's truly amazing that this car stopped being produced by Mazda. It's such a nice car.
Horrible car
Bought this car about a year and 10,000 miles ago. Numerous problems. Car kept dying on me because the intake was loose. Very expensive to fix. Car still dies several times a week. Heat doesn't work. Check engine light comes on often but the next time it's started up is off again. No idea what's wrong there. It's been a horrible and completely unreliable car. Bad fuel economy too.
Awesome sports sedan
This car is a real joy to own. First class airline seats in a car. Love the luxurious style and didn't expect the sporty handling. This coming from someone who owned a 1987 Mustang GT, Toyota MR2 and a Civic Si. Drives solid and comfortable like a Cadillac yet takes off and corners like a Mazda "Zoom Zoom" this is another great achievement for Mazda. Would I buy another one? In a heart beat! Driving 66 miles daily with 3 min of steep hill climbing. I was averaging 19 mpg.
