Just hit 252k mi ALL original. Still runs like a champ, and idles silently! Has suffered from a lot of neglect yet it keeps on going and going. I seriously neglect it, for example I have not changed the timing belt, wires, or spark plugs in 7 years. Also,I JUST replaced the oil filter and transmission filter. The oil filter was so clogged NO oil was going through.Same story with trans filter.lol.Great car I love its looks and handling. EXCELLENT features also(solar roof,12 speaker audio, intelligent "fuzzy logic" cruise control, manually shiftable, the hold button, and trans can choose automatically power and shift modes.). I hear some have ride adjustable suspension.Japanese ones had MORE features!!

This has truly been an exceptional vehicle! The styling was "futuristic" in 1992 and today it still appears to many to be a recently designed car. I've had numerous people comment that they thought it was manufactured in 2000 or 2001. After 11 years and 115,000 miles in the midwest, this car has no rust whatsoever! Regular preventive maintenance has insured breakdown free usage for all of those years.

The 929 caught my eye in mid '92. Bought my first 929 in Dec '92. It was totalled in Feb '93 and replaced with 929 Premium March '93. This car was/is phenomenal. Body style and finish is incredible. Has better features than Lexus LS 400 of the same year (my husband had one). Vehicle has been low maintenance. Oil changes every 7.5K, repl radiator, water pump, air cond hoses in past 5 years. I have approx 155K miles after 14 years, 3 or 4 fender benders and it stills rides smoothly and looks awesome. I have never kept a car this long, but I can't let the 929 go! It's been good to me.

i got it one year ago. i had changed its air flow assembly, and knock senser by mistake. it is fast and very quiet. the engine warning light had light on in this car for four years, but i did not find any reason and it is just fine. parts for this car are very expensive. most of them are only carried by dealer. it will kill you when you looking for any used parts. i tried to find a passenger side head light assembly by hundreds calls. after those i found a used parts shop have that item, but they said they wont give me the light unless i buy a whole front of the car from them. how much is it? one fifty hundred.

Still a good looking car. So much fun to drive. Power to spare and it just sounds like a sports car. A little small in the trunk but a great ride in the back seat also. Unfortunately I now have a drive shaft universal problem and the only way to repair is to pay Mazda $1050 for a whole new drive shaft and universal.

Bought as a 2nd car used w/30K miles on it. The styling and handling sold it. Drives like a sports car, but is a family sedan as well. All the bells and whistles, well ahead of its time. Brakes superbly balanced for no-dip panic stops, independent 4-wheel suspension, amazing performance. I have another car but can't stand to let this one go. Only major repair was replacement of the A/C and fan-clutch assembly, etc. Dealer repairs very expensive as are parts, but thankfully few have been required. Quite enough trunk space for family vacations. I only have 165,000+ miles on it now, but it still cranks immediately, gets 21 mpg but now burns a quart of oil per 1000 miles. Small tradeoff.

This has been an excellent vehicle for me. It has been very reliable and is the nicest car I have ever owned. The car has 190,000 miles on it and is still doing well. I am considering trading it in this year (2008). The ride is very comfortable, has decent power and handling, however the gas mileage is not the best. The struts are in need of replacement but the rest of the car is in good shape. The only repairs that the car has needed was an oil leak at the valve cover area - only 400.00 to repair. Apart from tires and general maintenance it has been fine. One complaint is the construction of the front door panels - made from plastic and have been slowly falling apart for a couple of years

929 - Good choice

179,000 miles and no sign of dying. I am a salesman and drive around most of Oklahoma for work. My 929 looks good and rides well. The Nissan Altima it replaced was reliable also, but was a stagecoach compared to the smooth V-6 and luxury ride. Quirks include: smallish trunk, no glove box, no tilt wheel. Not deal breakers. I get 22 MPG on regular unleaded and don't spend much time in the shop. When necessary ... parts can be high. Rarely are they necessary - in 6 years I've replaced the starter, belts, 2 shocks, timing belt, spark plug wires and had the tranny worked on (about $1500). Of course, tires and other soft parts also. Ain't bad for the 100,000 miles I've had it.

Bought used and are second owners. The 929 is the most responsive car we have owned; you are riding in it not having to drive it. Reliable and mechanically sound; have owned for almost 2 years now and predict another 80K miles of life to go. Engine is perfect even after 12 years. Only repair is AC. Nice looking lines to car exterior. Leather seats in almost new condition and other interior parts in same almost new condition.

I live in Japan where I got this car. Like others a this web sight, I too think the body style is similar to a Jaguar - if not better. Certainly more beautiful than the new Mazdas. It drives like a large car and all my friends love this car. I just bought 17 inch wheels for it and it looks great! My Mazda MS-9 efini (Sentia or 929 as you may know it) is one of the most beautiful cars ever made!

wa, wa, I don't know how to drive rear wheel drive, wa, wa, The transmission is to complicated. wa,wa, parts are expensive, and all I did was go to the dealer and tell them to fix everything. wa, wa, I wished I bought a an accord. Your all a bunch of BABIES. If you want a car that handles awesome (gotta love oversteer!), looks better than any car on the road today, a car that is very rare, lots power, and like things in life that are understated, (unlike pontiac) then get this car. I bought mine for 5400can (3000us) and when i compare to what i could have bought, there is no comparision.

A very stylish car with a great ride. A very spacious interior - great for big people. Parts cost about twice as much as for a domestic car - brutal. For example, new exhaust and catalytic converter $850 US. At 100K miles, the front shocks are going, the transmission takes a while to get into reverse and 2 air sensors have been recently replaced. Handles very well in snow for a RW drive. I'd keep this car if I could afford the repair and maintenance costs.

I love my 929. Yes it has its drawbacks, but compared to what new cars cost today, its a winner. Mine is a 1992. I had to replace the water pump, timing belt and transmission. It has 110,000 miles on it. I havent had strut problems so far, but the car is a dream to drive and still can hang in there with most cars on the road today. Its styling was before its time.

Excellent automobile, first several years of ownership absolutley no problems. In the ten years of operating this car I have spent less than 300.00 per year to kept it operational. The interaior is still in excellent condition. The engine needs a little more care now but it still runs lick a charm.

I loved this car since I seen it.I have own the vehicle since July 2002. It drives great, looks great and feels great. Everyone cries about the repair cost. It costs just as much to repair as a domestic car if not less. You all should look for new mechcanics. I say I average a repair every month or so but that is because I want to restore it to the orginal state.I would reccomned this car to anyone who wants a luxury car for a econ. car price.

I bought my 929 used with over 150,000 miles on it. I have now over 180,000 miles with minimal replacement costs, (brakes, A/c conversion, belts, etc.). This car is great; gets around 26 mpg, very roomy interior, great power. So good that I prefer to drive it over my 2005 Chevy classic. I plan to keep this car until it quits on me; only thing I fear is the timing belt having to be replaced, big job, expensive labor and parts.

The car was a great design - very stylish, the interior is well laid out, and the rear wheel drive performance is adequate. It started out nice, but the build materials showed their quality over time and lots of pieces have broken. All four electric windows, the electric sunroof, numerous interior pieces, etc. If you buy a high mileage car expect it to go south quickly.

I bought this car in 92 brand new. Only problems so far are the shocks. Only dealer and gabriel carries them and they are expensive, but considering what you get it is well worth it. Plus if you go with gabriel they have a lifetime warranty so you never have to worry about it again. Handling is excellent, amazing exhaust design helps a lot with power and fuel economy. Looks as good as it gets and interior design is comfortable with good quality.

Bought it in 1997 with 70k on it, and since pretty much trouble-free with additional 60k on it now. Design doesn't look too oudated even after 11 years, which is a plus. Fuel mileage usually ranging from 18-20mpg almost exclusively in-city driving. Just give it a regular oil-change with 5w30, pay attention to automatic transmission fluid, and it feels like it would last another 40k easy.

I searched for a 929 for six months before buying the loaded one I have. It rides like a big car, and very quiet on the highway. The interior room is probably greater than cars of its same size today. Water pump, rear struts, front brakes, and radiator all replaced passed 100kmi. The accelerator is WAY too sensitive (I read that was fixed in '93). Car tends to fishtail in hard turns.

The Mazda 929 is still one of the more beautiful sedans on the road. Discontinued in 1995, it is typically described as sleek and "Jaguaresque." I could not justify another $20K for a new Millenia. My 1992 model has been extremely reliable for nine years. It is quiet, smooth and quick off the line. Cornering is a little soft and the driving position can be awkward. The trunk is small. The costliest repairs were muffler system, struts and radiator. Timing belt needs replacing every 60K. Overall though, a well-maintained 929 should be a used-car bargain.

The second-generation 929 was Mazda's supreme effort to market a luxury car before they ceded that segment to other manufacturers. Their effort remains an impressive one even years later, with many thoughtful features in an early '90s car. I've had this one about five years and it still drives like a dream. It isn't a high-mileage car but I've had to service a few items that aged out (battery, alternator, A/C, power antenna, one electronic control unit). Par for the course with an older car, and I do not regret having bought it. A very comfortable, sure-footed car (rear wheel drive).

This is really a timeless vehicle and has held up great over the many years. I can't believe it looks so great for its age, I would never had guessed the car's a 93 when looking at the exterior. It's fast reliable and just an all around great car. The only problems I've had are that the seat belts fell apart, windows occasionally don't work and some electric problems with brake lights. Inner door handles are plastic and broke so now I have to roll down window to open the door.

My 929 was off the chain. It was a gift from my parents on my 17th birthday and I just passed it down to my sister when I went off to college. I like to describe my car as the car that can do anything. I've taken it off road, through water, and even on sidewalks! I would love to buy this car brand new if they still made it.

I purchased this car in the 2000 with 126, 000 miles on it. The car was like new, not lying. I love the size and room of this vehicle. It's the most interesting and best looking interior on car I've had, with chrome accents and light blue leather interior. I departed with this vehicle at 277, 000 miles in 2006. It was traded in for the 2000 Infiniti Q45t I still have. I still love that model 929 and express a moment of excitement when I see a well maintained one on the road.

Owned since new. These model series 929s have arguably the best style of any auto on the road. Mine has chrome wheels and to this day, I still receive compliments. People can not believe it is a 94 model. These cars are under valued on the market and represent great values. MPG is 20 in town and 24 on the road with premium gas.

I'm now going on seven years with this car and have thoroughly enjoyed it. At its time it was considered a luxury full-sized car. You sit lower than most in it - your legs go more forward than down. The styling is first rate - sometimes described as Japanese Jaguaresque. Very comfortable to ride in. As others have remarked there's no glove box or tilt steering wheel - minor inconveniences. I only wish Mazda would revisit this car and provide a technologically updated version.

I bought the car in the summer of '97 with only 28k on the odometer. I've just turned over 67k and runs like a top (yeah I know, super low miles whatya expect). It's been my "go to work car" mostly, with occasional road trips when my other rides are in use. Fantastic ride on the highway, reliable, economical, powerful and fast. What more could you want? Oh yeah, drop dead good looks. On the down side parts are hard to find and when you get 'em boy do you pay a price for them. I live in the southeast, my dealer has checked for used parts and they are not available. All the good parts have already been salvaged so I gotta bite the bullet and get factory new$$. In the long run it's worth it.
