Junk--Don't Buy One!
I purchased my 626 DX with 63,000 miles last May from a buddy for $4500.00-- thought I was getting a good deal. In less than 11,000 miles the following has happened: exhaust fell off, front brakes + rotors had to be replaced, CV joint replaced, radiator had a hole in it, clutch went out and all four struts are shot. Some deal. Trade value on this dog is nothing, so I'm fixing it and putting it up for sale so I don't totally lose my shirt.
MAZDA MAKES A GREAT CAR
This is our second Mazda--bought because the first 626 was a blast to drive & 100% reliable past 100K miles when we traded it. Same has been true for this one. Mileage is great (about 30 on highway, 20-22 in city), and it still looks like a new car. Have researched potential next vehicles and--looks like, if we do trade, it'll probably be for a Mazda6 (Honda Accord & Toyota Camry just seem frumpy in comparison). These cars make driving fun--without fiscal sacrifice.

My "Mean Green Janine"
I've had my Mazda 626 for 2 years now, my first car I bought on my own, and sadly I will be parting with her this weekend due to a bad transmission. It had a leak and ...the short of it is the whole transmission needs rebuilt...going to cost me about half of what I bought it for in the first place, so I decided it isn't worth fixing, and I do want something a little bit bigger. I LOVE my sunroof, power windows and mirrors, CD player, things you wouldn't really expect to see in a car that old. The trunk is HUGE, perfect for all my instruments, workout gear, and school stuff during college. The Heat and AC, lights, windows, cigarette lighter, cassette and Cd player all work perfectly. Before the transmission issues, the only problem I can say is it's a little shoddy at accelerating, especially when going uphill. And also the volume dial on the radio never worked...but that's just a little quirk I put up with. I really love this car and I expected it to last me at least another 2 years, maybe I'm too sentimental, but I'm really going to miss this car. There's just a certain charm about her. I'm sad to think of her being scrapped for parts. It really is a great car, except for this transmission issue.

Bought for $1800
This car had over 150k miles whwn i bought it, but it was in perfect condition. The manual transmission is so fun and the handling took sharp turns st 40+ with ease. The stock suspension caused much leaning when turning sharp, but it was so comfortable. Sadly destroyed the engine.... I was going to get laid and drove through flood waters, which caused a bent rod in the engine. The best car that I've ever owned and the only one I ever met a chick with a d in

Great car for teens
I bought mine for my son when he turned 16 in May of 86 for $7500. It's all black, tinted the windows dark , put in a better stereo, new wheels. Man, I think I have more fun driving it than him!
