Great Compact Car

2010 Mazda 3 i Touring 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5A)

I purchased my Mazda3 Used with around 60k miles on it. I am about to pay it off and purchase a new vehicle but I got great use out of it both daily commute and road trips. It has about 170k miles on it and still runs great. A few issues arose with age but nothing serious and I will share those at the end. PROS: Great Gas Milage!!! Reasonably Roomy for such a small car. My last car was slightly bigger but did not have back doors and the back seat in that seemed way tighter than this one. Pretty Durable - I will go over the issues that arose with age but I never had any serious issues, breakdowns, etc. no expensive repairs were ever needed for this car. CONS: For some reason, the blind spots in this could be pretty brutal. In the first few years of ownership I inadvertently cut people off pretty bad when merging lanes. I just learned to be extra cautious and really leaning to look both in mirrors and turning my head when I am merging in traffic situations. It just seems where the seams between the front and back doors are in this car can really block your vision. My previous car was a 2 door with large windows (comparatively) so it may just be that I wasn't used to it. The ABS easily goes off if you are breaking during hitting a bump or pothole. Sometimes it affects breaking for days after this happens. The breaks get really loose when its triggered making you have to push really deep to stop. One time I even spent money to have it towed because I thought my breaks went out! It just goes back to normal over time for some reason. Issues: Once again, the car never needed extensive repairs but has slowly showed its age. Here are the issues that occurred and an estimate of when they happened. 100k miles - Motor Mount. Likely happened during hitting a pothole, was leaking and car began to vibrate a bit when operating. I never repaired it as it didn't cause serious issues. 120k miles - Rotors needed to be replaced. They got warped and car started vibrating at high speeds and during breaking. 120k Lost a tire during morning commute due to sensor valve stem going bad. Same issue happened again at 170k. For both the housing broke and the tire emptied while driving. No clue what caused this but it happened twice. I also cannot be sure these were OEM or not. 150k A/C stopped working. I thought freon was running out so I added some, did nothing. I have not gotten around to repairing this. 140k I think this is something to do with age, but dashboard mat has really lost its durability. I have had a small dog the entire time I have had this car, and she has always liked jumping up with her front paws, leaning onto the passenger dashboard. Within the past 8 months or so, her nails have really started to scratch this and leave big gouges in the dash mat which looks horrible. This might have to do with having no AC as it is much warmer in the car on hot summer days. This was never an issue until this year. Anyhow I really enjoyed this car and will soon be replacing it but I thought I would leave a review for how it has performed at higher milage. still runs great!

I leased my 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback 2.5s with Moons and Tunes package in Oct 2010. It has been three awesome years of fun ride. Good: Excellent handling in curves (here in Portland) and really grips well to the road. Very good torque and performance. Overall very good styling in the exterior and the interior. One amazing ride for the price Not so good: Bluetooth could handle adding contacts better. Gas Mileage for a car of this size is not great. I averaged 23/24 over 3 years. High Road Noise which bugged be a bit. The Bose sound helped tune it out, but still it was louder than some other cars I have owners. Not engine noise, but mostly road noise, esp from Tires. Overall- Thumbs Up

I have a 2010 Mazda 3 gt with the 2.5L 6 speed standard, bought it in 2012 with 80k on it. It now has over 440km and counting and has never had any major issues what so ever! I did very little work to it if any all the way until about 350-400k and then just regular stuff like shocks and struts, no big deal. Motor still runs strong tranny and clutch are solid! Only negative is the camber that Mazda puts in the rear end to maleness it feel “sporty”. If your running HWYs your tires do not last! Just chews through tires, it does however help if you get an alignment from a shop other then a Mazda dealer as they will put its back to stock which is no good.

Clutch Issue

I purchased a 2010 mazda 3 hatchback on 5/31/09. Car was driven for only two days and had problems w/ the clutch disc. Dealer repaired the issue then drove the car the next day. Car just stopped in the middle of the road and will not move, this time dealer ended up changing the clutch and transmission. To make the long story short I opted for a collateral exchange with the same model and specification as the 1st car I purchased.I got a 2nd car, after driving it for 2 weeks, car broke down again bec of the burnt clutch.I have driven a manual stick shift car for almost 20 years and this problem never happened to my Accord and Acura.I opted for lawyer representation bec Mazda won't fix the issue

I am the original and only owner of this car, which I bought in the summer of 2010. I wanted a car that was somewhat "pimped out" (reference to the MTV show, Pimp My Ride) from the factory and was fun to drive without being priced higher than the middle $20K. After looking at and test driving various sporty (and affordable) cars, the Mazda's interior, handling, reliability record, and it being fun to drive won me over. I use the car mostly to commute to and from work and it makes the commute much more enjoyable than when I was driving my previous car (Honda Civic). My Mazda handles well; has a tight turning radius that makes it easy to park (or do a U-turn); can more than handle two bags of golf clubs, two backpacks, and two large suitcases (when a rear seat is down); has really comfortable seats and reliable bluetooth; and gives me good feedback regarding my average miles per gallon. My maintenance costs have been great. I am shorter than average and the driver's seat easily adjusts for me as well as my husband who is average height.
