Buying Another IS 350

Leased IS 350 for 4 years starting in 2006. Loved this car. Gave it back in expectations of moving to Mercedes or BMW. Test drove 328,335 and C class, and immediately missed my 350's acceleration. Can't beat its value for horsepower, handling, looks. Had no issues with it. Drove it 52,000 miles. Loved it just as much after 4 years.Awesome power yet handled very well for city driving. Would not recommend for tall people, I'm 5'10. Backseat is decent, but don't use. I'm buying either a '06, '07 again. Adding navi, bluetooth, heated/cooled seats in next one.

Being married for 41 years ,I normally get my wife a new car every 3 years. She loves this car so much she still drives it. Other than a battery and tires the car has not required anything but normal service and a couple of minor recalls. I have gotten 31mpg on the highway at 70 mph. The brakes are excellent and are original. When warranty service was required, my wife was always given a new car to use while service was being completed. I give this car a 10 out of 10 after 12 years of ownership.

I was an Acura TL guy until I went to the Acura Dealership and they didn't have the TL I wanted. I saw an IS350 on the lot and when I checked it out, not even the Acura RL compared to the features of my IS350. I was amazed at this car when I first sat in one and it even had the Acura salesperson in awe. I also loved the Mercedes C and E Class but it is not as fun to drive as my IS350 and is a more complicated to use their features. My IS350 has a very quiet engine which makes for a smoother ride. Compared to other cars I've had or driven, my Lexus IS350 is very user friendly, stylish, fun to drive, and just plain AWESOME!

I'm approaching my third year anniversary with my IS350, and it's still the best purchase I've ever made. Passengers still get in and say "wow". But after three years you realize there are a few little things that you would change if you could. Warning: What follows are complaints that in NO WAY would cause me to not buy another IS350. I love this car in every way, shape and form. I still pinch myself that I own a car this amazing. Okay, disclaimer over, read on...

I just bought the Lexus IS 350 a month ago, and it is truly the best car I have ever bought. I test drove the BMW 3 Series, Volvo S-40 T5, and Subaru WRX all in the same day as I bought the Lexus. None of the cars even matched the Lexus's preformance, comfort, quality, and bang for the buck. This truly is a car with everything you could possibly want. 0- 60 in less than 4.5 seconds, 18 inch rims, 13 speakers Mark Levininson sound system.. what more could you want. Best car you can get for your money.

I've had this car since it came out & am very impressed over the last 3 yrs. The car rides nice with smooth acceleration. There is a lot of power on tap when you need it. MPG range from high teens to low 30s depending on driving habits, I am getting 25 mpg overall. One drawback is small rear seat. You can fit 4 adults for short distances, or small kids out of car seats. The trunk opening is small but, you could fit 3 sets of clubs in the car with some ingenuity. The seats are very comfortable & the leather holds up well with maintenance. If you have the optional 18 inch wheels they can not be rotated because they are staggered. The stock tires lasted 30k miles for me, rated at 15k.

The Lexus IS350 offers the best of quality and performance. It is fast, stylish, comfortable and it is, above all else, a Lexus. No squeaks, creaks or rattles. You'll find other reviews that pan the IS350 in favor of BMW 3-series handling. That may be true, but I drive my IS on the interstate and around town, not on the track. I want creature comforts and quality craftsmanship in addition to performance. So while BMW aficionados may have the "handling" argument won, everything else falls in favor of the Lexus.

Aside from being reliable and a great everyday car, Lexus has let me down here. I've owned 2 other Lexus " IS200T and RX350" that didn't give me any issues, not until I bought a 2006 Lexus IS350. I bought it USED. However, it's been fairly reliable. The only downside I've experienced was Lexus's Warranty. If you aren't aware, Lexus has a defect with "sticky" dashboards and door panels melting. Unfortunately I was one of the effected owners. It makes it hard to drive my IS350 without being blinded by the glare of the dashboard, it becomes a safety hazard if you ask me. Unfortunately I've already Contacted Lexus regarding the issues that I was having, GUESS WHAT NO LUCK. The best they can do is reimburse me for a dashboard cover. REALLY?! although it'll solve somewhat the issue, but its unbearable to look at! They couldn't do anything with my door panels, they quoted $800 per door. It hurts me personally when I have passengers in my car seeing that my doors are scratched, rips, discolored, and sticky. THAT IS NOT "pursuit of perfection" as Lexus Claims. After owning 3 Lexus vehicles, this is going to be my last. Sadly I wouldn't want to leave such a great car company. DONT GET ME WRONG, THE CAR IS SUPER RELIABLE, But with this type of issues "safety hazard" "quality defect" and constant back and forth with Lexus Customer Service, I gave up on the brand!

I have had the vehicle for almost three years. My only complaint was the quality of the tires. My car came with Bridgestone Protenza tires. They lasted about 18,000 miles. The road noise was very bad, after about 15,000. I replaced them with Goodyear Eagle F1. Great tire at a good price. I received 3 minor recalls, last week. I took care of them the next day. Aside from that, the car has had no major repairs.

Owned the car for about 6 months. Very pleased. I have no buyers remorse and the power and options are just right. I am able to pass without overkill 400+hp range and get 350 miles per tank (premium fuel though). I have to comment on the Lexus customer service as it is top notch. I got a loaner Lexus when they fixed the recalls and their follow- up has been a pleasant surprise.

Recently bought the IS 350 and sold my Audi A8 as it had 128,000 miles. It was a big change, but each day I like the car more as I learn more about it and drive it more. To me it seems like a luxury go cart! It is very responsive both in steering and acceleration. The front seats are surprisingly comfortable for such a small car and the back seats are very well thought out except for the leg room is a little shy if you are over 6 ft and the front seat is all the way back. I like the no key entry and start feature and the nav system which I am trying to learn. Also like the manual automatic shift feature. Not much to dislike so far. Probably will keep the car for quite a while.

I bought this car with 37k miles, CPO, for $25k. For this I got a luxury badge, 306 HP, rear-wheel drive, a class-leading interior, concierge service, free loaner Lexus, brand-new Goodyear F1's, brand-new floor mats, 3 years of bumper-to-bumper warranty with no deductible, and a beautiful, high-performance vehicle from the most reliable brand in America. Nothing else I tested came close to this level of value.

Very disappointed with the Bluetooth system. Poor design when compared to the competition. Disappointed with the NAV that it basically shuts down after 5 mph. You have to go through some dippy override to get it to be functional. The homelink design is very poor. Why on earth is it on the mirror? It's not even illuminated. Can't find it in the dark. Neither are the memory seat 1-2-3. Lexus provides no information regarding the voice commands... you have to search the internet to find out what they are. Why?? Interior lights should come on as soon as the unlock button is pushed... they don't until the door is opened and they are very dim.

This is a very fun car. I traded my 2001 GS300 for it. It has plenty of power, although it's deceptive due to the trademark quiet, smooth ride of Lexus. It handles very well without a tremendous sacrifice in ride quality. The car has a lot of great features, especially if you get the NAV package. It would be a waste to buy this car without it due to the bluetooth and back-up camera that come with it, among other things.

Bought my IS 350 used and love it. Drove a G35, 328 and A4 -- none of them come close. Critics say the IS doesn't handle like the Beemer, but then I don't race mine on a track. All I know is that it takes interstate cloverleafs like a pro and accelerates like a demon with the refinement and quality that only Lexus can provide. It doesn't get great gas mileage and there is not much rear seat leg room, but it is similar to other cars in its class. A suggestion for those in northern climates -- invest in snow tires.

I've had this car for seven months. So the "newness" factor is gone. However, this car is amazing! It's smooth, fast, and smooth while fast. It handles like a dream. I like the fly-by-wire throttle. The car anticipates what you want to do, and - at least for me - it's correct most of the time. But when you turn the radio off to listen to the sound of the rubber on the pavement, you'll have to get used to rattles, squeaks, and pops inside the cabin. The dash, center console, and front door panels are annoying for those who cannot tolerate rattles in a $40K luxury sedan. The real nightmare, though, is that I cannot reproduce these rattles at the dealership.

This car is amazing. I simply love driving it each day. I have owned the car for almost a year now and would not change a thing. The speed is amazing, it can keep up with most of the sedans out there and even many sport cars. Yet, when at speed, the car is very quiet and smooth. Driving this car really is like driving a luxurious, four door Corvette.

IS 350 might be the most economical luxury sedan sports car on the market, but it is also the fastest. Seriously, to get faster than this car, you have to buy a Corvette, a Viper, or a 911 turbo. This car cranks. The luxury package is a must, with a TALKING map navigation (named "Lexy"), keyless pushbutton starting (your key never leaves your pocket for any reason), parking camera, easy sunroof operation. The map alone is worth the extra $5k it costs.

After reviewing all the competition from Japan and Germany the IS 350 won. From a value standpoint it is far, far less expensive when you add all the options that are standard. But more important the car is built to the highest standards in this category with a wonderful 306hp engine that rockets this car effortlessly to speeds well over the limit. Mine has the Sport Package which includes a firmer suspension and larger wheels and the car sticks like glue in the corners although it gets a bit unsettled in the bumpy stuff. The Navigation w/Mark Levinson stereo is superb and highly recommended. I understand the ML system is not usually ordered by the dealers, but look around to find one.

All I can say is WOW. THis car has the perfect blend of sport and luxury with a great everyday suspension that combines a smooth ride with sporty handling. This car ahas a high level of refinement and luxury yet it can't wait for you to unleash the 306 HP this baby has. This is the perfect car that can make the entire family happy. Be prepared to buy one if you test drive it, the car is simply amazing. The interior is surprisingly comfortable for me (6'2") where I thought I would be cramped. The back seat is tight but I never have anyone back there so it wasn't important to me. Go buy one you won't be disapppointed.

2006 IS 350 - Good, Bad and the Ugly

The Good: Great throttle response, power and comfort; styling is much sportier than pictures appear. Automatic transmission upshifts and downshifts almost perfectly. Luxury feel, very comfortable. The Bad: No manual option, premium gas required, numb steering. Not much really ;) The Ugly: Sportshifter and paddles are next to useless since you can't lock down the autoshifting to particular gear range, only lock out a range until you upshift into it. Trac off only stays off until you exceed 30 mph, then it's back on again.

Since I got my IS 350 in early March, I've been looking forward to go to work every morning, not because I love my job that much but because I get to drive this very fast car for 45 minutes each way. It is such a pure joy to drive, aggressively or leisurely. It accelerates mightily and brakes commandingly. It's head-turning gorgeous lines and stylish plush cabin make me feel like king of the road day in, day out.

I would rate this car as excellent overall. Robust performance, quiet ride and refined look make the 350 a versatile autombile. Clearly a well engineered car with an impressive reliability record, far better than that of any German manufacturer. The interior is exceptional, keyless ignition and entry is so ingenious that you will never want to carry a car key around again, leather is comfortable, gauges are sharp, controls fairly intuitive. Exterior style is above average, great from the front/side angle but the rear looks similar to a Camry or Sonata.

I chose the IS 350 over the BMW 330 because after test driving both of them I could not discern a significant difference between the two. To me that was a big plus for the Lexus. Acceleration, handling and braking was very impressive. And for the interior, there is no comparison the Lexus wins. Plus the features and oh that Mark Levinson, need I say more. People complain about VDIM but how many people drive to its limit? and how often? BMW has more to lose and Lexus more to gain. For an awesome daily fun to drive performance vehicle it was a no brainer. Now add better reliability and good looks and ah yes price need I say more.

It's 306 hp is enough for most but a 6spd manual won't be a bad idea to complement it's power. the reason why I'd rather have a manual tranny is for one reason alone... it just take too long when downshifting. Also, the VDIM kills the fun right away when cornering aggressively. Other than that I think it's a perfect car.

I have owned most cars made by US and Japanese manufacturers for the last 35 years. I have never experienced such comfort and speed till I started driving my IS 350! It is a car that almost reads your mind and handles well on any type of road. I thought of getting another Acura TL for my wife since we already own one! But after test driving the IS 350 and Acura TL, I fell in love with the versatility, handling, comfort and speed of the IS. It is a car that makes you want to be "on the road again" as it is so much fun to drive! Please pray that no cop will catch me soon.

Just bought one in Red/Tan, sport package upgrade; what a great car! When you wake up in the morning, for a few seconds, you forget you own it, then it's like, 'oh yeah, that's right :)'. Sort of the opposite effect of when you break up w/somebody. Performance is awesome, great mileage for that level as well, especially w/91 octane req. Don't know if I'd want to be much over 6'2", but fits me perfectly. As to the rear seat space, as someone else said, "I never ride back there anyway!". I'm looking forward to seeing some aftermarket mods (turbo, super) to take the hp up over 400+, and start knocking off those kids in the Subarus. Joe in Arizona.

I purchased this car used with 24K miles on it and it completely feels like a brand new car. Very smooth, quite, and all the luxuries you can expect from Lexus. The seats are very comfortable and ventilated, great looking dash, tons of aftermarket parts available for those looking to modify. It has great exterior styling that receives plenty of looks anywhere you go without needing to break the bank. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. Also most believe BMW 3series, Infinity G35, or Audi A4 drives better but unless you drive all 4 the choice becomes clear. Lexus IS350 will make u smile every time ur behind the wheel. Not to mention better looking interior than all 4.

This is the first car I've owned in 20 years that did not have BMW on its hood, and I'm not sorry. As a BMW purist, I thought all Lexi drove like they were dead. But I was dead wrong about this one. The IS 350 is real fast, very responsive and amazingly comfortable. Pay no attention to the sniffy automotive press. The new BMWs miss the mark in a big way -- they've lost their soul. I would know, I've had five of them. You can drive the IS 350 through town or at the limit on a canyon road with the same silly grin.

Wow! I couldn't be any happier with this car. I drove the IS 300 for 3 years and loved it, but the IS 350 blows the IS 300 away. Looks and quality are upgraded and the power and performance are incredible. My buddy drives a 2006 330i and was gloating about it until he drove the IS 350 and now he has buyers remorse. Lexus will not confirm or promote the ability to do so, but contrary to the press reviews, the VDIM can be disabled. It requires some input in a specific order on the brake and emergency brake, but it can be done.

What an awesome car! I'd been waiting for a while to try before I buy. Compared vs BMW, Audi and Infiniti. Hands down, this is the one to beat. BMW is a great car, but the IS beats it with combination of power, handling and let's not forget Lexus quality. Would love to see them combine the 3.5 with AWD. I thought I'd miss the stick, but the paddle shifters are so natural and intuitive, I'm fine without it. This is the first manual shift automatic that I feel really provides a manual feel.

You have to look extremely hard to find any fault with the '06 Lexus IS 350 sedan. I bought one last weekend with the sport package and the Mark Levinson/navigation package and I feel like I'm 16 again and just got my driver's license. Not only is it a FAR superior car to the boring BMW 3- series, it's quite a drastic change from the old IS series. Handling and acceleration are superb and driving enjoyment could not be greater. I actually prefer this car to the Porsche 911 (2005 model) I was driving now and then prior to this. Way to go, Lexus...amazing job.

Definitely not enough rear seat room. Only room for two adults. Car is quick and handles well. It is a head turner. Would buy another one when it's time to trade it in. It is a great car for an automatic.

Let me start by saying I love my IS 350!! This car is amazing, everything you would find in a luxury vechile with power and performance. Many compliments from everyone I know and some I don't know. If you love to drive my suggestion is go test drive the 350 do not bother with the 250. and buy it you not be disappointed.

3.5L - 306HP and 23-27 MPG; Interior far superior to Audi A4, BMW 330, Infinity G35, ... I tried them all. VDIM works well and not too limiting. Check turning radius 33.5 ft, backup camera displays vid on NAV, NAV easy, cooled & heated front seats, Bluetooth compatible and keyless start. Rear legroom NOT a problem!, I had a 6'3" person behind me while I was driving (I'm 5'9") and he fit comfortably. I've got the blue onyx exterior w/ black leather interior, looks great! Sport package gives awesome rubber on 18" wheels to match 306HP. Reliable. Comperabably equiped beats BMW 330 hands down. Fun to drive and features galore!

I have had my IS 350 for just a few days and I keep thinking to myself that it must be a dream. This car is AWESOME! One item most don't mention though is just how QUIET the 306 hp engine is. This just exemplifies how great the quality and attention to detail is on this car. This car PURRRRSSS!!

Acceleration to me is the key word when driving this car as I don't mind the tight space at the back since I don't use it much anyway. I t just amazes me how you can really feel the power in this car when I first testdrove it plus the interior is topnotch and noise level very much subdued in my opinion. I almost bought a 325i but when I testdrove this car, it was like love at first sight, you just can't go wrong with IS 350 IMHO.
