We love this car. It drives great, looks great and all around nice car. It is a little noisy so I will be taking it to the dealer to have it checked out to make sure it's nothing mechanical.

Cruse control is a danger

Going down hill I can never count on the control not to take off. It will go from 58 to 65 mph in a second. Have had it in to shop 2 times just for this. The last time I was told that I should never have control on going down hill. What? Never had a car that could kill me just because I have control on. Also had back tailgate latch not wired up and a bad cell in the battery. The jeep is a 2015 that had 25 miles on it when I bought in Oct. 2016. I had them do a check of the car before I bought it because it had set for awhile. I have a lifetime warranty on it. Think I will need it

First of all after purchasing this car I feel like the stupidest person alive. I assumed there would be a spare tire or at least a donut which there is none, all you get is a tire pump filled with a one time use sealant where the spare should be. You think i would've checked before buying. The Uconnect voice commands only understand you 5% of the time, worthless. I purchased the Lifetime Warranty, which i assumed would be forever as long as I'm in ownership of the vehicle and breathing. This is not the case the Lifetime warranty becomes void as soon as the repair cost becomes more than the vehicles value at the time, I figure 10-12 years according to what i see on Blue Book Values, not to mention deductibles on warranty repairs which greatly affects warranty price. Last but not least, bring a calculator with you on any new car purchase and take the time to recalculate the dealers figures, mine offered me $1000 trade-in on my hunk of junk without even seeing it, which now that i think about it. He probably gave me nothing and made it seem like he did. Live and learn. I have only owned this for 3 days, so i don't know very much on performance and reliability, but from what I've seen so far, I think i'm in for a very bumpy road ahead. My first choice was a 2016 Hyundai Tucson, should've went back.

Good 1st ownership experience...with some concerns

Robert, 03/09/2019

We have really enjoyed this Jeep. Ride comfort, handling, and overall driving experience has been excellent. My only concern is that both HID headlights went bad within a month of each other after the car was only 2.5 years old. While that seems really early for headlights to go bad, it was disappointing that Jeep would not replace the headlights under warranty as we were 2,900 miles out of the mileage warranty at the time. Gives me pause and concern regarding the long term reliability.

Got our 6 cyl with 47k miles on it...now have 60...hasn't skipped a beat. It's the quietest car I've ever owned, it's fast, off road it's killer and it seems we're always filling it up but we absolutely love it. The stereo is not the greatest.

I have the Cherokee Trailhawk. It goes anywhere I want to go and does it quite comfortably. I've not had any troubles with this vehicle other than having to replace the battery. Guess the batteries can't last forever! LOL. When I'm due for a new vehicle I will definitely look into buying another Jeep!

We have a 2016 Cherokee overland with all the bells and whistles. We have 106km on it and everything has stood up very well. It has very good off road chops and handles extremely nice on the road. The 3.2 v6 has pretty good power but won't win any races, We are very impressed with the fuel mileage 8,4 litres per 100 km or about 32 miles per gallon. Gas mileage seemed to improve as time went on. The only way our toyota got fuel mileage like this is if it fell off a cliff. In my opinion these are a capable and reliable suv with some off road capabilities, Feels solid.

335K miles and still going strong!

We purchased our 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk brand new in 2016 with less than 100 miles on it. It now has 335,000 miles and is still going strong. This car has not disappointed! I have kept up with regular oil changes and recommended maintenance. I have never had any major issues with it. I couldn't be more happy with the performance, reliability and longevity of this vehicle. It's been driven in all types of weather and no issues at all. I love the 4wd. The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 2016 was made to last. If you do your part and take care of it, it will take care of you.

Do not buy this car. When you put it in gear you never know if it will go forward or backwards no matter what gear it is in. It will not start, the door will come down on you head and knock you out, the tire pressure gauge alternates between okay and low, and the dealer will flash the computer about fifteen to twenty times and the car will still not work. I will never , never, never, buy another Jeep. Also I had the worst dealership. When I called about my car during the 6 weeks they kept the car during the first 3 months of ownership I was told that nobody in the shop know anything. I had to take off work to talk to the shop about the status of my car. they thought is was okay to sell me that loaner car at the same price of my Jeep which was about $10,000 less than my Jeep. Usually drive about 20,000 per year but I am afraid to drive this car! Plan to sell as soon as possible! Paid much more than it was worth. Bought a new car and it was so much better the Jeep. The Jeep turns off when you stop at a light and turns back on when you touch the accelerator. Several months before I bought a new car the Jeep did not turn on when I touched the accelerator. That was a bad feeling in the middle of the intersection. New car is so much better and now I feel safe driving!

Noises

I bought a 2016 Jeep Cherokee it is making a noise. I keep the maintenance up on my car. The noise is very annoying and I can't stand it. I'm a single parent and I really want to trade it in. I have read the other reviews and it appears there is nothing that can be done with this noise. I don't know what to do. I'm in the process of contacting Fletcher Dodge in Jonesboro Arkansas, the car price is to high to have this kind of noise coming from the engine. Also the speakers sound as if they are busted. I hate this car. Can someone tell me what I can do. I will never recommend anyone to buy this vehicle. Disgruntle Customer.

We rented this vehicle while our truck was in the shop for body work. I can't believe a vehicle with under 15,000 miles feels like the front end is going to fall out. It feels like the front bearings, are worn and the shocks and ball joints are shot. For a vehicle that looks totally new it rides miserably. As a person in the market for a new vehicle, I would go elsewhere. Jeep has definitely gone cheap.

Purchased 2016 Cherokee almost 2 years ago and so far it's been great. The jeep is a little sluggish with the 4 cylinder but doable. I live in Ohio so it's pretty flat and the 4 cylinder is ok. I have 24K miles on it and I usually get around 22mpg in town and 30 mpg open road. Have not had it in lots of snow but what little snow It was in the 4 WD did great. I've used the 4WD on some off road hills in WV and it did just great (as good or better then any of my old Subaru's) I just purchased another 2017 Cherokee for my wife. The 2017 price was around 5K less then I paid for the 2016, since the 17 was purchased at the end of this year. I plan on giving the 16 to my son next year once he graduates from WSU. I previously had a 08 Cherokee Laredo which felt like a beast and it would go anywhere.

I’ve had problems with this Jeep since the beginning. Within the first two months my transmission went on me while I was on a highway. Then I had issues of it shutting down with no warning. That happened 3 times. Now I’m through my warranty, and I’m having even more issues. Latest problem was the radio being replaced, that was 400$, then both headlights replaced. The dealership charged me 174$ for that. I have it almost paid off and hoping to get another year or two without having to put a lot of money in it. I doubt that will happen. But one thing I do know is, I will never buy another Jeep again. The electrical work to this car is horrendous.

It goes dead whilst driving it..the transmission slips..uses too much oil..took that in for recall took 3 days to get it back!!! All they did was update the computer..window switch has gone out 4 times..The car has been in the shop 14 times in 1 yr and half!!!! It's always something wrong with the car and always cost money..and they refuse to make it right..sooo my advice to anyone wanting to buy this is run and run fast!! Unless your rich and can afford the repair Bill's that come with it!!!

I bought the 2016 Cherokee Sport, it sounds like a diesel powered sewing machine, according to the dealer its normal.. yeah you heard it right.. A 2016 Jeep sounds like a 92 Chevy Cavalier only the Cavalier has more power and sounds better!! not to mention the headlights get a lot of moisture in them "dealer said that's normal too" < because you want a brand new car with rusted headlight connectors right?!?.. this vehicle is a joke!! You hit the gas and it takes a good 3 seconds to start moving. The MPG is around 13 to 14, not what the manufacturer says and that's driving like an old lady. Very Unhappy with it and will NOT buy another Jeep unless its a 90's model that's the only time they got it right!!

So we had to rent this car while our X5 was getting fixed. First I want to say that this car is not good looking at ALL. First i will start with the quality of the interior . The front seat comfort was OK, but the rear seat comfort was awful. Now the engine. I am blown away by how horrible this engine is. I tried to accelerate and I seriously had to wait a solid 2 seconds to go any farther . AND yes I know cars have lag , but this was a lack of a good engine. I hate this so called SUV.

I recently leased a 2016 Jeep Cherokee latitude after having a 2010 Lincoln . wanted something different . I was looking for a lot of extras and was surprised to find most of my wish list with this car. I am happy with how it drives and the extras, but I am writing this because I am so disappointed in the radio. I get a handful of stations and I have asked the service guy to check it , thinking there was something wrong., but was told it was a new radio and there was nothing wrong. I am not sure if anyone is having the same issue. I like listening to the radio not just a few stations. I am thinking on bringing it back because of this . so if you are about to purchase this jeep and you want a good radio , don't buy this jeep .

I am not one to write reviews... but, I have had a horrible 1 year experience with my jeep. I have had it ONE year with 35k miles. I have had to replace the rear differential.. gears fell apart. ( jeep covered) My thermostat went out and my ignition pack. My jeep has only had hiway miles and the parts can not possibly have dust on them. Never have I owned a vehicle that just keeps having issues. Very frustrated!

I have a 2016 Latitude with the 6 cylinder engine I bought new. A constant get "service shifter"error message started about 3 weeks ago along with a bad front end bearing assembly I had to replace for a cool $700. So far...not impressed with my first Jeep...Also, my trim package not even listed below do I had to choose the closest one..

Best vehicle purchase I've ever made

I bought my Jeep used. Still the best vehicle decision I have ever made. It is just right, it is set up right, power to gear ratio is spot on. I've driven through the worst of Wisconsin winters with confidence and felt safe and in control. I saw a review that mentioned the car just shut off when the oil was too low. This happened to me on a cold morning turning a corner, when I jumped in and took off before letting it warm up a bit and had neglected to check the oil for a bit. It was my fault. #1. I didn't check the oil. (PSA you should check the oil in any car you drive... why wouldn't you? You put gas in it when it gets toward E...) #2 I took off on a cold engine. No harm to the engine done thanks to the car shutting off. True a warning light would have been nice, but not blowing the engine up was even nicer. I installed a tow package on mine and it handles our boat or kayak/camping trailer like a dream. My Jeep gets 5 stars and I would own one again in a heartbeat! I plan to pass this one down to my daughter soon and buy myself another one.

Great 2016 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl 4x4 (not 2.4)

A very good SUV compared to the Mazda CX5 we had. Better quality inside and out and no wheel vibration from ice build up like the CX5. Comfortable for travel and all features for the Latitude with cloth seats. It has heated steering wheel and seats, which are hard to find on this Jeep in our area for this 2016.

2016 Limited 2.4l 4 Cylinder

I bought the Jeep used in 2018 with 20k miles and functionally it has been a good car. With that in mind I also am very big on getting oil changes tire rotations basic maintenance when it's needed. The car is comfortable and generally has enough room for the passengers or errands that I am running (trips to lowes etc.) However my biggest complaint with this vehicle is at least in the 2.4l 4 cylinder option it has NO get up. I have to put the car into it's "sport" mode in order to get up to highway speeds... and even then it feels like it's a struggle to get to ~75 / 80 MPH It is it's lack of power that is causing me to look for a new car. It's MPG's aren't terrible but also not the best especially for a 4 cylinder car.

This car needed a transmission replacement at 30,000 miles. And after the transmission was replaced it needed an engine. I’d never purchase another Jeep product again.

Bought a 2016 Jeep Cherokee High Clearance to get up to trailheads. It had 108K miles from someone who commuted and probably never used 4WD. A couple weekends ago, the 4WD light came on and said Unavailable and to have my 4WD serviced. Haven't taken it to anyone yet. Bought from a car lot with no warranty. Tried the fuse trick, didn't work. Does the halfshaft recall have anything to do with what's going on? No idea. But so far, I am not happy with several things on this vehicle. Shifts into gears clumsily, already had tire issues even though tires were brand new, hate the way you can't turn off the radio, just able to turn down the volume; seats are uncomfortable; glove box is tiny. Will keep for now, but definitely won't buy a Jeep again.

Traded in after 1 year / worst vehicle ever

I purchased the Cherokee sport 1 year ago, I Traded in my 5 year old Grand Cherokee since it was out of warranty BIG MISTAKE!!! This car was a nightmare, the windshield wipers shut off on the highway in a torrential downpour more than once, the drivers side window would get stuck in the down position and it had to go to the dealer to be fixed more than once. The back up camera only worked half the time, on top of that when I had enough of this pc of crap and decided to trade it in with 16,000 miles the car was worth 1/2 of what i paid for it. The depreciation on this vehicle is horrible. I did not just take the dealers offer on the trade in. The Kelly blue book also shows the value is 50% after 1 year. My grand Cherokee was 5 years old and over 50K miles and I got 60% of its purchase value at trade in. DO NOT buy this vehicle unless you plan to keep it forever and pray it doesn't wind up at the dealer for problems every month. I went back to the Grand Cherokee, more expensive but worth it not to deal with the constant issues.

I was unfortunate enough to buy Cherokee SUV and that car has been plagued with problems. FCA is nightmare to deal with poor support and denial when it comes to resolving issues. Do yourself a favor and avoid any FCA product at all cost.

TLDR: BEWARE 2016 Jeep Cherokee is in need of a critical computer update that will disable your vehicle if you do not get it. Jeep will not notify you and will not cover the cost of the update. It is not covered by the MOPAR warranty. Unhappy with new Jeep Cherokee we purchased in 2016, just over 2 years old with 65,000 miles. Sunday, while driving on the highway, it became virtually completely disabled. It would not accelerate, it was definitely a transmission problem but we were unable to drive it home. We had to find the nearest dealership and leave it in their driveway. Irritating but no big deal, every car has problems...right? We were informed the problem was the transmission needed a computer update and that the update would not be covered by our Mopar Bumper to Bumper extended warranty. My question (and frustration) is that Jeep realized there was a problem with the transmission, developed an update, rolled it out to dealerships, and DID NOT NOTIFY ANY OWNERS?! Why did it require a disabled vehicle on the highway before we were told about the update. Additionally, why is it not included in the warranty?? A 2-year old vehicle should not require a computer update, so critical that it will disable the vehicle without it, and yet not be covered. The dealership did agree to update the computer, after our $200 deductible but why should we have to pay anything to fix our new vehicle??? Darren Stevens #dodge #jeep #MOPAR. NOTE AFTER A VERY EXPLICIT COVERSATION WITH MAXCARE WARRANTY THEY DID COVER ALL BUT MY $200 deductible. Still paying for something I already paid for. Not gaining anything. Was told by techs that this is leading cause for all Cherokee models up to 2019. I’m assuming they just haven’t seen them yet
