2015 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 9A)

In April 2015 we purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee, brand new! They literally unwrapped it in front of us. We were so excited for a little luxury upgrade! This car was just gorgeous inside and out! This is our 3rd Jeep, in the last 5 years. Soon after the purchase we began having issues. When we would call into the dealership to bring up our concerns regarding the violent shifting of the transmission we were told it was “normal” on EVERY occasion. So far, in 9 months it has been in for 3 recalls and 2 “software updates”. By September ’15 the transmission issues had gotten so bad we finally got them to agree to “test drive” our vehicle, our numerous attempts prior to this were always met with “well this is normal for this vehicle” and then we were told that the service department was so backed up with transmission repairs that we would have to drop off our vehicle for possibly up to two weeks, before they could look at it and we would NOT be provided a rental since the “check engine light was not on” . After basically demanding that they check this problem out because the car was just months old and has only 6k miles on it they agreed to “check” it on September 18th, they still refused to give us a rental, and we agreed to leave it for the weekend so they could address the problem. They called to notify us that they had “test drove” the car and nothing was wrong with it, my husband requested that he be able to sit in a test drive with the service man the following morning and asked him not to start or drive the car until he got there, when he showed up to do this test drive the service department told him they test drove the car again (even though they were asked not to) and that again, they found “nothing wrong with it” At this point my husband was furious. Not only did they not address the problem, but they also didn’t care to follow the requests of the cars owner. Now it is January 2016, the car is still shifting hard, or not shifting at all, as well as an issue with a recall that was done a few months ago for the car where when you would turn the air/heat on the car would sputter and almost stall, was happening again, even after the supposed “software update” So we once again contact the dealer to address an issue, they again tell us we need to just drop off our vehicle for an unspecified amount of time and they will not provide us with a rental, mind you this is our daily driver. So we then contact Chrysler directly, where they inform us we are eligible for a rental, and they will make sure that we get one, as well as be able to leave our car at the dealership for 5 days and then we will go from there. January 22, 2016 we take drop our vehicle off at the dealership so they can try to tell us what is going on with the transmission, again we are told that this is “normal” they tell us that it is a “Fiat Transmission, and that it shifts gears differently” miraculously this time the service department drives the car and says they do feel the issues we are bringing up, and that is was a “software update” to fix the problem. Well… I have already had a software update, that FAILED! Following I will list the issues; First the vehicle shifts roughly into every gear, causing my vehicle to jolt forward, second, when at a complete stop and then beginning to accelerate the vehicle has a delay, the engine revs and it finally jerks forward to go. Most the time the vehicle reaches 5-6k RPMs before it ever shifts gears. Third, when you start the car and turn on the air/heat the car drops below 1k RPMs, shakes and almost stalls. NONE of this is “normal” as the dealership states, this is especially NOT “normal” for a brand new car with significantly low mileage. The transmission should have ZERO problems. When I received my vehicle back from the dealership this last time, I got onto the freeway to drive home and it wasn’t until the vehicle reached 6k RPMs that it finally shifted into a gear. This is 100% unsafe, like I stated earlier in my letter, this is our daily driver, it is the vehicle that I buckle my two young children into EVERY SINGLE DAY, I count on this vehicle to get me to and from my destination in the safest manner available. Because of the jerking from the shifting of the transmission it can easily result in an accident. There have been times where I have almost hit the person in front of me because of the jolt forward coming out of a complete stop, as well as almost being hit from behind because my vehicle does not accelerate properly. This is not something I want to wait around for, this is something I am not willing to deal with until another “software update” is available, or until the manufacturer finally recalls this vehicle (which will happen) because it is a clear safety issue, causing my family to potentially be injured or worse. I do not feel safe in this vehicle, nor do I feel comfortable putting my children in it. Two visits to the dealership to repair this problem is far too many for a car

DO NOT BUY THIS UNTIL TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS RESOLVED BY CHRYSLER

I have had my jeep into the dealership for transmission issues 4 times. The dealer couldn't fix the transmission so they replaced it. The new transmission is not much better and Jeep is unwilling to rectify the situation. I am now forced to file a case with NCDS in an attempt to resolve this matter. Looking at lemon law with a lawyer. The vehicle has less than 3,000 miles on it. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned in 30+ years.

Bought a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited in January 2015 in May we drove to Washington DC for a move. While driving the check engine light came on and then wouldn’t go over 35. Imagine driving 35 in DC traffic keeping an eye on the RPMS which was up to 4 RPMs and making sure it did not get hot. Before we started our trip I took it in to take care of the recall on transmission/ air bags. The Dealership in DC told us we needed a new transmission. We picked it up two days later and while driving home in DC traffic I took a left hand turn and the vehicle automatically turned right. It took all my strength and my husband to get the car to a safe place. Power steering connection wire came loose.

Firstly, I have the V6 model Trailhawk. It was a great car for the first 11000 miles but then one day I received an RO1 recall notice for a software reprogramming. Don't do it. This reprogramming disables second gear because they know there is a serious design flaw with the transmission. The recall reprogramming limits the down shifting of the tranny so you end up with a car that is always in the wrong gear and a herky jerky pig to drive. I once rated this car with 5 stars but feel compelled to warn the public now because so far Chrysler appears to be unwilling and very uncaring to restore this vehicle to what I paid for. Update: This Cherokee was long ago dumped, traded for a 2016 Subaru Outback 3.6r. The Jeep was a ridiculous Lemon, an absolute swindle and worst purchase of my 64 years. The 4WD would always disable and FCA disabled 2nd gear, making it pig to drive So far my current Outback is a far superior vehicle and much better off road and on. I already have 23,000 on it.

Fleet Technician's take on the 2014-2016 Cherokee

I work for a national car rental fleet, so I am well educated on the problems facing new cars, in fact, all of the major auto manufacturers depend on us to determine recalls. STAY FAR AWAY from any of the new Chrysler/Fiat models. In regards to this model, the Cherokee, I am sure you have read many reviews on the transmission problems, and the difficulty in dealing with the dealership and service people. This vehicle is a complete disaster. We have to deal with them on a daily basis, everything from the transmission to electrical problems. One of the worst lately is the thermostat fails around 30K. The problem is so bad we have mothballed our 2015 models because the replacement thermostat "unit", which is a non-removable thermostat housed in a multi-port junction, is unavailable for MONTHS because they are out of them.... it is a nationwide shortage. These things are dropping like flies. If yours goes out after warranty, prepare to pay at least 2 hours labor (HARD to get to) and $200 for the part. This is the worst vehicle I have ever dealt with, so if you heed the advice of someone who has worked on hundreds, STAY AWAY.

UPDATED REVIEW after 17k miles experience.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I just purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with the 3.2liter v6. Less than 100 miles and today experienced severe transmission issues as described where I am driving along and suddenly see the "Service Transmission" message at which point the transmission remains in the gear it was in but refuses to shift. I pull over to the side of the road and stop, put in park, back in drive and then can go a little while (couple of miles) before the same thing happens. This repeats until I get back to the dealer about 10 miles away. May be looking to return vehicle altogether if as the Service Tech said, it will probably require a new transmission with less than 100 miles!!! UPDATE November 2016: I have now put 17k miles on my Jeep and I can happily report that the initial transmission issues were not a sign of things to come. So far it has performed flawlessly after that initial hiccup. Have been on tough 4WD terrain to test that aspect of it as well with good performance. I am happy all around with my purchase. The original issue only required a new chip that controls the transmission. That and the re-learning process that is required when the vehicle has a new or updated software did the trick.

I want to start by saying that I love the comfort and styling of this car. I have the 6 cylinder, but that was not in the drop down menu. Jeep may have a serious problem with the Cherokee. Bought my first jeep on a Monday and started to have parking break issues. No fix after three trips back to the dealer to rectify the issue, so the dealer swapped out for another. I drove the new one for 300 miles and had a transmission code, which forced me to limp it back to the dealership. They swapped out the transmission module and they think that this may fix the problem. I sure hope so. I do feel that if you buy a vehicle in excess of $30,000 there should not be trouble the first week.

Purchased 2015 Jeep Cher Trailhawk (V6), fully loaded. Purchased November 2014, 4,400 miles later on 4/21/15 the check engine light came on. Needed a new transmission. Sat at dealership for 32 DAYS until they finally replaced trans. Picked it up this past Fri, 5/22/15, drove it over weekend. Contacted the Serv Director on Tues 5/26 and told him it still wasn't shifting right. He told me to drive it thru wknd & call him back on Mon 6/1. Yesterday, 5/27, engine just shut down on I-395 just outside of DC in rush hour. Had It towed back to dealer. Total lemon under VA Lemon Law. Dealer & Jeep "Cust Care"--no help. Forced to hire an attorney!' Unbelievable!

Transmission Broken at 2200 miles! Regret Buying!

I deeply regret purchasing the V6 4x4 Trailhawk 2015 Jeep. After 2200 miles, the transmission is broken. While driving on the interstate the check engine light came on, so we exited the interstate. A service transmission message was displayed on the screen. Upon stopping at the exit ramp light, the car would not move forward, although it was in drive. The problem repeated again, one block away from the dealership where we took it for repair. The car simply stops in traffic with little to no warning. Prior to the sudden onset of this transmission problem, we had no issues with the vehicle. When we arrived at the dealership, they indicated it would be at least a week before the transmission techs could even look at the vehicle as there is a glut of service inventory for transmission repairs. After they look at the vehicle to get the specific failure code, we would then have to wait for our turn for repair as they are backlogged for transmission repairs. We asked that they call other dealerships and find out if they can service it sooner, and every dealership within 75 miles is booked out WEEK(S) ahead for transmission repairs. We looked up this model vehicle online and searched specifically for transmission failures, and our hearts sunk. Many (hundreds of people) claim to be having what appears to be the same issue at very similar mileage (less than 6500 miles) on the Cherokee 9 speed transmissions. We are disgusted with this purchase and the customer service we have experienced from Jeep. I emailed Chrysler, per the instructions in the owner's manual, and have not received a response. I have called the customer care department and have not received any support. Jeep will not give us a loaner vehicle to use while they repair our brand new Trailhawk with 2200 miles on it that we paid $41k for. I know these vehicles are visually appealing, have comfortable seating, have good acceleration and performance specs, but seriously, no car should have transmission failures at 2200 miles. If you are still considering purchasing this vehicle after reading my review, I strongly urge you to spend a few minutes on the web searching car complaint sites for issues with the Cherokee transmission. I deeply regret this purchase and would advise any friend or family member to purchase something different, based on this experience. We have been without our brand new Jeep for some time now, the dealer has not contacted us, Jeep has not responded to our inquiries, Chrysler has not responded, and there appears to be no end in sight. I would never purchase this vehicle again under any circumstance, despite how much we love the appearance and comfort. Update: We sold this car after 10 months. The transmission broke 3 times during the 10 months we owned it. The dealer denied any issues each time we took it in for service. We will never again purchase a Jeep due to this experience.

I purchased my 2015 cherokee in April and by may the wobble was so bad and the shifting so dramatic that I went into a ditch. Over the next 2 months new transmission and new axel on front driver and passenger sides. 3 software updates for the transmission and still shifting horrible. Looked up lemon law rules for my state and followed them. No attorney and 6 months later they bought it back. They have no choice but to if they haven't fixed it after 4 tries. Send certified letter to corporate giving them one more try to fix it and if they don't BUY BACK TIME. Call your state's consumer protection department and they will help get you on track. They paid retail price of the vehicle plus registration, tax,doc fee, warranty fees, gap that didn't get refunded to me as well as any accessories I put on the jeep. I also got ALL the interest in paid above everything else which if you figure half your payments go toward interest at the start of the loan so was nice. Stand up for yourself and don't except a lemon. For the record I bought a nissan murano and damn impressed. Of course I still have my wrangler. ..JEEP gets in the blood.

Transmission SUCKS and alot of JERKING !!!!!!!!!!!

The jeep cherokee limited is a great looking Suv , However the 9 speed Transmission Sucks !!! The salespeople will tell you its a smooth ride which is true however if you like to be jerked forward at times going 56 miles an hour i felt like i was going to get whiplash . Immediately called the dealership since my vechicle is only 8 months old and complained about the jerking once again which makes this number 2 for taking it back to the dealership . I was told by my service advisor "It's like your cell phone we have to update the software ". Seriously I have only updated my cell phone once in the last 2 years . I have been reading alot of consumers complaints regarding the transmmission and how the dealerships keep telling consumers that everything is fine , if that was the case then explain to me why there are 190 complaints regarding the transmission on carcomplaints.com/ jeep , and also on Edmunds.com same thing consumers are reporting Transmission problems . If my issue is not taken care of by the dealership I will be taking this to Chrysler. I did not pay 45,000.00 to have a vehicle transmission jerking .

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. There are trasnmission problems starting at 1k miles on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited. The car is well built and looks great from exterior and interior. But the mechanics are a failure. My jeep stated hard shifting at 1k miles. I even had a time when I couldn't move the vehicle. I have been to the dealer several times and they haven't been able to solve my issue. Seems that I am not the only one with this issue if you search over the internet for "hard-shifting" issues with Cherokees you will understand. I am very disappointed that I have to take my new car to the dealer every couple of weeks where I get no solution to the problem

I bought this car May 11th 2015. I went to visit my family 4 hrs away for Memorial day 2 1/2 weeks later and the transmission light came on half way into the trip- less than 1500 miles on the car! I had to park my brand new car for a holiday weekend until a dealership opened up on Tues. They reset the light- said it was nothing. It came back on during my ride home. I drove directly to the dealer. They had the car from May 27th-June 9th and replaced the transmission. I hadn't even made a payment yet. June 12th the light is back on!!! 2174 miles on the car. I only had it back 3 days..back to the dealer I go. Now they have the car from June 12-July 2nd and they tell me they have replaced the valve body. July 7th on my way to work and the light goes back on as well as the parking brake light and the 4x4 light. I smell something burning. The dealer has to come and tow the car away. Now I am calling Chrysler asking for a repurchase- I don’t want this car! They don’t call me back for three weeks. July 22nd I get the car back after a 2nd replaced transmission. July 28th back to the dealer again! This time a 3rd transmission is placed in the car and I get it back Sept 4th. The car at this point has 2664 miles on it. I filed a lemon law suit with FCA Chrysler on July 17th 2015. I am still fighting this claim. I have been driving the car since Sept but the transmission is not right. It screams down hills and does not shift. It screams up hills and shifts so hard the whole car jerks. The dealer tells me there is nothing wrong with this transmission. It does not shift well- this is not normal. Chrysler is not responding to the lawyers on this claim and they are trying to make me settle with a deduction for the miles I have put on the car. I cannot believe that Chrysler is handling this so poorly. I will never but another Chrysler/Jeep product again nor will I recommend them. The car stinks- the company stinks! 11/25/16 update*** it took me until last week to have he lemon law competed. The transmission still slips and still screens going up or down a hill. I am so happy to be out of this car. The whole process was a nightmare and it cost me way too much money to fight FCA. I still stand behind my original review- horrible company and an ok car with a bum transmission.

Update: Filed lawsuit against Chrysler, forced them into a complete buy back. They never suggested giving me another car...paid all fees, my expenses but I had to agree Chrysler was in fault. So they will put it back together and sell it to some unsuspecting person without them knowing the history. Since then the list of undependable cars, jeep with fiat motors and transmissions are all listed as bad choices. That's my update. Bought 2015 jeep Cherokee 4x4 limited. Had less than 2 wks, won't start, when it does start, transmission out. Was at dealer for 3 wks, two new transmission modules later, got car back for 20 hrs. Has 500 miles on it. Had towed back to dealer...same deal, transmission. Dealer had for another 4 weeks, then stripped down to wire harness. Dealer refusing to back me, towed vehicle home, have an atty, lawsuit filed today against Chrysler. Chrsler refused to respond to first atty complaint so now in civil case, oh and I'm making payments....since April 17th. A. Mazing! How can I review my new car I can't drive? Bought a KIA

9 Speed Transmission,Great idea but poor execution

2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4wd V6 First of all I would like to say that I drove a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for the better part of 10 years and (except for the gas mileage) I was extremely pleased with the vehicle. In fact my granddaughter is still driving that Jeep today. Because I was so pleased with that vehicle, I purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude and I absolutely love the way my vehicle looks, handles and drives as well as the gas mileage and comfort. For the most part it serves my needs very well. The only problem I have with my Jeep is outlined below: In the beginning I had no problems with the way the vehicle performed, but after about 3000 miles I began experiencing problems with the 9 speed electronic transmission. After slowing down to a near stop and then accelerating, the transmission will hesitate before engaging into the proper gear. Because of this I almost had two accidents, one of which caused me to come very close to running through the wall in my garage. Also, if I start moving forward and give the vehicle maximum acceleration, when I release the accelerator pedal, there is a substantial delay before the vehicle stops accelerating. Further, I have tried numerous times to use the manual shift feature to downshift to slow the vehicle down when driving down steep hills. There is a significant delay (several seconds) after I attempt to down shift before the transmission actually responds and by then the speed of the vehicle has increased such that the engine speed increases to over 5000 RPM when the shift occurs. For my use, the manual change feature on the Jeep is absolutely useless. Relative to the 9th gear, I have checked the transmission gear readout numerous times by moving the shift lever left, and I have never seen the transmission indicate that it was in 9th gear. In fact it will only shift to 8th gear when I am going down hill. Occasionally, after coming to a stop and then starting up, the transmission will lock up in 1st gear and I have to accelerate up to about 25 miles per hour before it shifts and then it shifts quickly through several gears. I can also force it to change by getting the engine speed up to about 2500 RPM and then letting off the accelerator thereby allowing the gears to change. I have explained and demonstrated all of this to the service manager at the dealership where I bought the vehicle and they have been most accommodating it trying to alleviate the problems I have had with the transmission. They have even replaced the transmission, to no avail. I still have the same problems and I am told by the dealership that this is all normal and within the designed operating parameters of the transmission. I have subsequently contacted Chrysler Customer Care and they opened a case number in my name (refer to above case number) wherein I was instructed to take the vehicle back to the dealership again. Upon taking the vehicle back, I was told once more that the transmission is performing within design operating parameters and their diagnostic test do not indicate any problems. Chrysler Customer Care contacted the Area Manager and he said that since the vehicle was operating as designed, there is nothing further that they would do for me. They suggested that I change the way I drive to accommodate the way the vehicle is performing. They have subsequently closed the case. This is a totally unacceptable conclusion. I have driven other new Chrysler products with automatic transmissions and they do not in any way perform the same as my Jeep. I do not know what to suggest as a solution to my dilemma, but I am extremely uncomfortable with driving my jeep even though circumstances force me to do so. I am fairly certain that there are other Cherokee owners that are having the same issues with their vehicle and I would be very surprised if there weren't some related accidents. Have subsequently traded for a new Grand Cherokee with 8 speed. Bill Georgetown, TX

Don't Buy a JEEP CHEROKEE 2015

I bought my daughter a Jeep Cherokee Limited 2015 in Feb. loaded with every extra including Blind Spot, Lane Assit. 6 cyl. u name it. Beginning of Sept. at 5000 miles the Transmission Failed while she was driving up steep hill where she lives- The Berkeley Hills, Berkeley Ca. It suddenly lost power, red lights began to flash on dash. Luckily after braking and turning it off and restarting with no change , she put on Emergency Brake and jumped out. She then had more problems with the dealership, taking it in. Eventually, I- her mother- had to get involved (I do not live in the area) and make a number of calls to Sales people at the Daly City dealership where I bought the car. None of this went well. She was able to have the car towed a week later to the Berkeley, dealership where they diagnosed the problem: Transmission Failure and replaced the transmission and updated the software. They handled the situation well but now the car Lurches forward, out of the blue. Both these problems have been noted in complaints to NHTSA, Automotive News and other Internet forums. If my daughter's car had continued to roll backwards, she could have gone off a Canyon road, down a ravine.

My LAST Chrysler product

2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4dr SUV 4WD (2.4L 4cyl 9A)

We purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee 3.2L V6 with the 9sp transmission in May of this year. At 10,700 miles it has started exhibiting transmission issues. The Check Engine light and the Service Stop/Start System Telltale light came on. The vehicle went into "limp mode" and would only do 35 miles per hour. I was on a major highway and had to pull off the road. The rpm's were elevated. I managed to nurse it home (only 3 miles) and called the dealership. (which is 46 miles from my home) I was told that it was "OK" to drive the vehicle to them. I declined. It never would have made it. The dealership refused to have it towed to them and suggested that I take it to another dealership in town. I once again declined and used my own AAA service to get it towed to them. They had the car for 2 1/2 days (they did provide me with a rental) and told me that it had a software update that needed to be performed per a service notice and test drove it for 10 miles to see if the lights would come back on. (I was skeptical because I had already started reading all of the BAD reviews) I have driven it 83 miles and both lights are back on. I purchased this vehicle because I was replacing a Town and Country Mini Van that we had for over 8 years because it was becoming unreliable......I have a "new" car that is already proving to be a LEMON. I will update this as my journey continues. **** update **** This Jeep went into the shop again. This time I was told it had a defective transmission, they were going to replace it under warranty. after two weeks I had to call for an update, it seems they installed a new transmission (#2) from FCA but it was the same series of transmission and they were about to call me but were alerted to the ooops. Another transmission (#3) was sent and it was installed. In appx 110 miles, same issue happened. They towed it back, we got the same rental (under the warranty, we HAD to drive a jeep product while ours was in for work). In a nutshell, they installed transmissions #4 & #5 in the course of less than 16 weeks. The jeep was in the shop a total over 40 days for the transmission. We initiated "lemon law" proceedings and in a few short weeks, FCA was required to buy the jeep back from us (minus a mileage usage allowance). So while I consider ourselves lucky in that respect, we have decided, we can no longer afford to buy Chrysler. The quality we had come to expect over the years (three generations) is just not there anymore. even if the transmission had been a good component, the jeep was far less than one would expect from this legendary brand. 3rd and final update. Jeep is now FCA problem. they bought it back from us (thank you NC lemon law). We have no plans on buying another Chrysler product. Since this "review", we have purchased a Nissan truck to replace the Cherokee. So far there have been zero issues. edmunds is asking me to "update" this review.... the only thing i can say is that we are still very adamant about not purchasing another chrysler or fiat product. 4th joke : edmonds doesn't know we ditched that POS almost two years ago now lol !!!! We did how ever get a pretty good deal on a new mid package ford explorer ($27,000 out the door!). we have had ZERO issue in any way with this vehicle. Now, this is a car i will recommend. i did see that FCA had to recall a few hundred thousand vehicles, again. so you buy them at your own peril.

I bought the Jeep Cherokee Latitude in September 2015, the 1st recall was not a recall, a transmission line from the engine to transmission ( the car was sitting in my driveway ) my wife went out to go to the store, all the transmission oil was on the ground. I was told by the dealer that a "O" ring kit was blown (sitting ). since that time i have eight other recalls, now i have the 9th one, all this has taken place in one year, this just too much, i have had it, i am at my wits end. what can i do??????????????

I bought this on a whim after having my '08 Wrangler blow up on me. I needed a vehicle and needed it now. I opted for the Latitude package with the 6cyl and 2wd. First impressions were good comfy, stylish I liked it. Over time though the transmission began acting strange and the check engine light was on. Long story short I'm now at 20k miles, after about 7 trips to the dealer the check light is still on and transmission is annoying at best. Software updates have done nothing it still shifts abruptly and randomly sometimes winding up between gears or slamming into gear so hard it jolts the whole vehicle. Dealer service is another matter (not good) so I'm stuck with a jerky transmission with very questionable long term reliability and a plummeting resale value. I would not recommend. Which is too bad because the rest of the vehicle is fine.

My beautiful Jeep is just no good. Been in and out of dealer 5 times with same issues with the transmission. Every time they would re flash it and say they can't duplicate the issues. Just after 3 weeks of another reflashing my car shuts off while driving. I opened a case with Chrysler and thank god they agreed to buyback my Jeep. Stay away from this Jeep, nothing but a nightmare!!!!

Bought a new Jeep Cherokee 2015 Ltd FWD putting in 4293 miles.Recalled for the 1st month of owning it for a P56 Recall(Tranny reprogram).2 months after, the engine check light turned-on with only over 1000 miles on it.Brought it back to a dealer to have it check and only restarted the fault and dealer informed me, it should good.On its 4th month owning it, it happened again with transmission temp. going over 258Deg with a 7 error codes according from an OBD II.Brought it to the closes dealer and was told that they had to order a new transmission. Up to now, still waiting for it to get fix.Called the Jeep Co. and ask for a replacement.Jeep cant give me an answer until it is fix.Disappointing!

I've had my 2015 3.2L V6 Jeep Cherokee Latitude for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it. Everyone that has seen the vehicle can only describe it as "nice", it is a very nice car. The interior is roomy and made of high quality materials, even with cloth seats. The dash, steering wheel, arm rests are all covered in leather. The remote start and convenience package are well worth the money. The power liftgate, which you may not think is necessary is very nice as well and gets used frequently. The only con so far is the gas mileage. I love the power and acceleration, 271 horsepower. But my gas mileage hovers around 17 mpg, if that is a problem you may want to consider the 4 cylinder.

I rented this car while on vacation so I don't have long-term data. I do have strong impressions after driving it for a week and several hundred miles. I like the exterior styling a lot. Contemporary, clean. The interior was roomy, with nooks and crannies used for storage. The entertainment system could be maddening. There is perhaps some options that I did not discover, but plugging in an iPhone always seemed start playing iTunes immediately. Not expected. On top of this, the USB connected iPhone would sometimes stop playing a song for no apparent reason. Audio playback of Google maps was sometimes garbled. The touch screen controls are slow to respond. The bluetooth pairing was fine and calls could be easily controlled. There seems to be something seriously wrong with the climate control system in the car I had. When the AC would come on there was a noticeable jolt in the car. Don't know how this got by their QA team! Add to that the temperature controls seems very finicky, with an increment cooler or hotter making far to great a difference in temperature. No dual controls for front passengers. Be prepared to negotiate cabin comfort with your passenger. Despite the full screen in the front, there was no on-board navigation system. An odd omission for an otherwise well equipped car. Well, except for the other lack of electric seat controls. Cruise control was flawless. Headlights bright, and windshield washers worked great. Consumer reviews of Jeeps tend towards the negative, as do reliability reports. This is quite disappointing for a brand that is an American icon. If I win this car in a raffle or someone give it to me, I'd probably keep it. But as for buying one, not likely.

KL is way underrated! Bad rep from bad drivers?

I was skeptical when I first purchased my Jeep Cherokee Sport (KL) two years ago. It was the second year (2015) for this body style and the return of the Cherokee into the Jeep lineup. Many longtime Jeep enthusiasts dogged its crossover styling and the technology over its offroad capabilities. For those who want a serious offroading vehicle, the Trailhawk is going to be your best bet from the KL family. Cherokee hobbyists have now created a two inch lift (and some change) which allows for beefier tires and a more aggressive stance on the Trailhawk, while all other models can find something similar to give their Cherokee a bit more height and light offroading abilities. For the large majority of Cherokee owners, offroading is not on the agenda, so I'll stick with things that definitely stand out for me. I've owned 12 vehicles in the last 20 years, and that includes everything from Ford and Chevrolet to Honda and Toyota, Mercedes and BMW. I'd rate the Cherokee as a 4 star SUV in its class. The interior might not be the most impressive that I've come across, but you get an SD card reader (for audiophiles), bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, CD player and auxiliary input - 5 options for connecting your music! The aesthetics of the dashboard and front cabin are very welcoming and easy to reach everything. The cargo area is about the size you would expect from a Cherokee; anything bigger needed and you should look at the Grand Cherokee. The engine boasts about 184 hp and 170 ft-lbs of torque for the 4 cylinder (cannot comment on 6 cylinder power) and is very nimble in traffic. In the past two years of owning this vehicle, the servicing has been very minimal and light. This Cherokee does feature a lot of computer enhancements, so you will need software updates of your vehicle once every 9 months or so. If you've owned any other modern car from the 2010s, you will know this is not specific to Jeep or the Cherokee. I believe a lot of the bad reviews come from people who have had unfortunate luck, or they just have little patience. I probably would not have even written this review if owners had not rated it so low. Realistically I would give this vehicle a score closer to a 4 out of 5, but these Cherokees are really fun and I won't be getting rid of mine anytime soon. There is also a whole community of Cherokee KL owners who absolutely love their Jeeps (and modifying them!), so don't let a few sour reviews turn you away.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. This is my 3rd Jeep product and after this one, I will NEVER buy another Chrysler product. I started having transmission issues at about 5000 miles. I took the car in several times and they did several updates on my transmission. After telling me they ordered a part, I called back to see the status of the part, because my car was acting worse than ever...and I was advised that a whole new transmission had been ordered. They put the new transmission in. They told me they would have my car for 2 days...when in fact they had it for a week. Didn't give me a loaner car or even offer. Told me to take it easy on the transmission for the first 1000 miles or so. At about 8000 miles, the car started to act up again. Have had 2 more updates down, and the transmission is still very jerky. It doesn't shift right. Doesn't feel safe at all. Every time I take it into the dealership, I get the run around and they make it seem like I am stupid and don't know what I'm talking about, even though I have already had a new transmission in my BRAND new Jeep. I will NEVER buy another Chrysler product. Trading in my Jeep Commander was the worst decision I have ever made.

I leased a brand new 2015 jeep trail hawk. More recalls than any other car I've owned. Constant problems transmission number 1. Doesn't shift right, accelerates on own, turns off when foot not on brake , in 4 times . lift hatch fixed 4 times twice with new parts. Just got it back and they replaces lift hatch and said nothing is wrong with transmission. I called Jeep to complain that I've done research and there are currently civil action law suits for the same. My husband received a call from dealer and it needs new transmission. REALLY YIU JUST SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. I DONT WANT TO DRIVE IT. I WANT THEM TO TAKE BACK. We pay a lot of money for this top of line lemon.

I bought my V6 4x4 Latitude last week, and I already regret it. The first issue was the suspension creaking while at a stop and turning the wheel. The second, is that the UConnect system is a pile of fancy garbage. It disconnects my phone, won't put calls though the speakers, doesn't recognize an iPhone as a USB device, drops SiriusXM connection frequently, radio has a lot of static, it's a nightmare to use. The third I have is the drivers seat sounds like a squeaking spring when I move, or go around corners. You have to shut off active start every single time you start the vehicle. The leather on the steering wheel is paper thin. My tow eyelet's missing. Transmission can't find a happy spot

When I bought this one, it was smooth and relative quiet inside for the first two months. After two months, violent shifting of transmission and trembling of the engine became severe. I went to the Jeep repair shop several times to fix this problem. They always said that this transmission is the worst one ever and there was nothing they could do except S/W update from Jeep. But officially they said that there was no problem with this car. Even when my car stalled on the crossroad two times on the way to children's school, they repeated the same word. It was very risky situation to my family. I really recommend you that you not buy this model. You will regret it.

Review of the V6 Engine Jeep Cherokee

If you are thinking of buying a Jeep Cherokee, don't get the 4 cyl engine. Go the extra money and get the V6. Gas mileage is almost the same and it has better performance. Also the transmission will shift a whole lot less while on the highway with the V6 engine making for less engine noise. The only problem I've encountered with the vehicle was a manufacturing defect with the transmission in the first 7,000 miles, since that was corrected it has been smooth driving. March 2017, I still have the car and it now has 34,500 miles on it. I still enjoy driving it and the gas mileage is still avg about 26.5. March 2018, I'm still driving my Jeep, it now has 40,600 miles on it. Feb 28, 2019, Sadly I no longer have this Car, as it was involved in an accident and totaled.

The transmission issues inherent in this vehicle not only make it no fun at all to drive, but in my opinion unsafe as well. Imagine pulling out into traffic, you press your foot down on the accelerator and the car does...nothing. It takes several seconds to figure out what gear it should be in while you're sitting in the middle of the intersection before finally slamming into gear and squealing the tires. The dealer I took my jeep into for this issue told me I should expect the transmission to be 'clunky'. Clunky! I wish it was just clunky. This thing is dangerous. If I drove this car expecting it to respond like...any other car I've ever owned...I'd be dead and you wouldn't have have to read my terrible review. First and last Jeep I'll ever own.

2 months after purchasing tachometer goes crazy. Revs up and down whether you're driving or at a light. Took it in and they upgraded the software. Recall also suggested this as well. This past week the engine light comes on. Dealer said there were 4 different software upgrades due. We didn't know except the engine light came on to give us a hint. Apparently fixed it. Wrong. Next day light comes on again. After 3500 miles a new vehicle should not do this. Prior reviews had mentioned this plus total transmission replacements. Should have kept the Honda accord and not 'knee-jerk" purchased this vehicle. Advice is to never purchase first year transmission updated vehicles or year models in general. Far too many bugs to sort out. Big disappointment so far!!

After owning the vehicle for 1 year we are still quite impressed with it. We had an issue with the multimedia center (radio) and I had to demand the dealership replace it when they "could not replicate the problem". The screen would just black out making it unusable. After a minor arguement with the dealer they replaced it and it has worked fine ever since. The only othe unnerving thing about the vehicle is the 9 speed transmission. It occassionally wants to stay in a lower gear too long when going up even the slightest incline. I had the dealer check it and they said it was normal. It still does this and i will have it checked again before the warranty expires but at a different dealership. When looking for a new vehicle I took my time driving everything in thing in this class from A-Z. After test driving the Cherokee (6 cylinder Limited) I found myself comparing everything to it and could find nothing I liked better. We have had our new Cherokee Limited for just over a month and after 3000 kms I still look for any reason to drive it. Outside of the two issues it is still a good solid vehicle. Yes, it has slightly less cargo storage than most of the others in this class but that was not an issue for us. I have been off roading with it - love it! It feels solid and comfortable to drive with just the right features we were looking for. It delivers the mileage I expected. We are still impressed!

I have 10,000 miles on mine. I would be very cautious before purchasing. The transmission is more of an issue than they are admitting too. The poor shifting makes this car extremely dangerous. The hesitation in downshifting makes everyday driving very deangerous. If you get the sunroof prepare for it to rattle and creak every day without a solution to fix it. FCA calls both issus operating as normal.

Not only was my trans replaced in less than 3000 miles, I have been back to the dealer a total of 6 times now and they act like they have no idea that the trans has had problems all over the country. The internet is littered with people complaining about this car and the trans. It lags then jumps, you never know what you are going to get when you press the gas. The service trans notification lights up the dashboard regularly. Recently the key fob was not recognized while I was sitting in the car, so I couldn't start it. The air pressure on my wheels goes haywire. According to the sensors, my tires magically inflate as the car warms up...logical I guess as that air is probably warming up and expanding..(my attempt at humor). So my 4 tires start at (from front left and clockwise) 34, 31 (in red) 33 and 34. 20 minutes later 36, 33 (still red), 33 (not red) and 35. HUH? with a gage they are all 36. It's a real shame because all the gadgets in this car and the overall appearance, really make me want to overlook the fact that I'm not confident pulling out into traffic. Lastly, Chrysler Corporate are super nice, but they will not actually help you get anything done. I have my 7th appointment at the dealer this week. My 8th will probably be next week or the week after. UPDATE: Since having the trans finally fixed 2 years ago, the car still has the same problem, but I have learned to adjust. Sometimes when I go to pull out into traffic the trans acts as though the gear never settled down into first at the stop, leaving me with a lack of power out of the hole. The car is really so great in the other areas though (appearance, towing and interior functionality) that I am dealing with the trans issue.

I have had my trailhawk for under a year. RECALL, RECALL, RECALL, RECALL, .... The check engine light came on with less than 11,000 miles, took it to dealer, they FIXED it, less than 24 hours later the check engine light was back on. Coasting down a hill the tachometer was bouncing all over the place. sounds like the rear axle or transmission is about to fall off when it down shifts. Problems trying to turn off the Jeep, put car in park, foot on brake, push button to turn car off and car still runs, try it again and again, cars still runs. While talking to corporate office customer service, trying to resolve these issues, they were rude, hung up on me, and would not return phone calls. That was the last Jeep I will ever buy. Even the dealer I bought it from didn't want to take it back as a trade-in.

Transmission is horrible with the 6 cylinder engine. Very unpredictable and bad shifts (late, early and rough). The problem is very apparent going from 1 to 3 gear with violent jerks. It is unacceptable that Jeep can get away with such a horrible transmission in this day and age. Its a slap to face for the consumer when the engineers stated to the press that people are experiencing problem because of "how Americans drive" indicating that they have no intent to provide any type of meaningful fix. There is no way to correctly accelerate without horrible shifts or getting stuck on a gear. Around 4000 miles, my transmission when into a safety mode, locking it to one gear. Overall, it was very stressful to drive with transmission, not knowing when it will shift and if you will have enough power to accelerate. The violent shifts will definitely cause reliability with the engine. Replacing the transmission doesn't resolve the issue since they are all the same. Adding salt to the wound, the resale (KBB value) was terrible when I decided to trade it in at 11k miles. I will never purchase another Jeep/chrysler/fiat in my life time.

2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4dr SUV 4WD (2.4L 4cyl 9A)

This is an update on our family 2015 Jeep Cherokee which we bought lightly used in Feb 2016. We purchased the Latitude 4X4 with the V6, and the odometer read 9k miles but now reads about 57,500 miles. That means we have put almost 50k miles on our Jeep since we bought it, and there hasn't been any problems whatsoever. Our family has driven it over many miles of rough dirt roads for numerous day trips and weekend camping excursions in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the high deserts of North-Western Nevada. We love fishing, hiking, weekend camping, and swimming in the numerous lakes and rivers within a few hours drive of our home in Sparks, NV. We have also taken it on numerous long-distance road trips to visit family in other states and it has never let us down. We use a cargo rail system that holds all our camping needs (often for at least 6 - 8 people w/ those that don't fit in the Jeep riding in a follow on vehicle we have) on the roof rack, and then a metal platform that connects into our trailer hitch (I believe its rated at 500 lbs for the platform, but the trailer hitch is rated at about 5k lbs w/our V6. Try that with a CR-V, Subaru or RAV4 - none of which even come with a V6 option, and I don't believe any of them come in 4X4!) My elementary school daughter and her numerous friends call our Jeep the "Robo-car" due to its many high tech features, and the power panoramic moon roof and tailgate! All in all our Jeep has been a huge hit with both kids and adults alike. I have never owned a 4X4 before. I have driven a few of the old style Jeep Cherokee's from the early '80s when I was a young Military Policeman with the Army, but I found those old Jeep Cherokee's pretty tight in the cabin seating and very plain Jane in material. Our personal Jeep is more like driving a BMW, or Cadillac than the old Jeep's I remember. During the long road trips we have driven it remained comfortable for all occupants during 10 - 12 hour travels. That's saying something! The tech packages keep the kids happy in the back while we adults are quite comfortable in the front. The road noise is quite muted and the handling on all road surfaces is always comfortable with good feedback to the driver. We had the brakes checked at 50k miles and were told they were fine, but will have them checked again every 10k miles from here on. Other than the normal tire replacements, and oil changes we have had zero issues except that we had to replace the original battery at about 25k miles. It doesn't leak a drop and the seats are still very comfortable for long trips as well as on washboard dirt roads. We love the navigation package as we are often in areas where there is no cell phone coverage for miles around, but the satellite maps keep us well updated on which dirt roads are best along with lakes, rivers, nearby towns, restaurants, gas, etc. So far, five of our friends & neighbors have all bought their own Jeep Cherokee's b/c of how much they liked ours along with the fact that we have had zero issues with ours. 2 bought the Jeep Cherokee Overland while the rest bought either the Latitude, or Limited. Another family friend, who recently retired, had also bought an Overland but only 1 year later had to trade it in for a GMC Yukon SUV since their daughters family now has 3 young boys and they needed the extra 3rd row seat for the passenger carrying capacity, but they told us they really missed their Jeep! Even though the Yukon cost about $20k more, and was a year newer, it didn't have all the tech features packed into their Jeep! The only issue I have heard from any of them is that in the case of 1 of the Overland's the front leather seats warmed but didn't cool. They were going to take it back to the dealer to have that fixed but otherwise I don't know of any of the Jeep Cherokee owners who are the least unhappy with their vehicles! One day my daughter and I were coming out of the library and I opened the back door to an identical Jeep as the one I own. It was parked 2 spaces over from my own Jeep and the owner was right behind us. He had unlocked his car just as I was reaching for the door so I thought it was mine. He had already figured the other Jeep must be ours and was just having a bit of fun with us. He was a widower and a prodigious reader and we stood and talked with him for more than 10 minutes. He was in his '80s and said he had owned 8 Jeeps before his current Cherokee and would never own any other vehicle in this lifetime! I must confess that there is a genuine love for the Jeep brand among the vast majority of Jeep owners I have met, and they frequently give special road courtesy's to other Jeep owners as a rule. Welcome to the Jeep club!

TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS

I bought this vehicle for my daughter (age16.) We don't let her drive it anymore. It has gone dead in the middle of the highway with myself and her dad in the car. We have only had the car 4 months currently has 5000 miles on it. We are now experiencing problems with the transmission. It is my daily driver at the moment. I have been stranded on the side of the road twice. I carried it to the dealership. That claimed they did an update this past Wednesday. On Friday morning, the car would not go up my driveway.

I bought my 2015 jeep Cherokee latitude in September 2015, since day one i have had nothing but problems with it. first day complete computer reinstall and the headliner fell, two days later same thing, since then its had four axles and more software problems than i can count. dealership cannot find the problems and trying to work with the dealership and Chrysler corporate is like being between two babies that constantly fight each other. i warn anyone who is going to buy this car Don't its not worth it. I regret everyday with it and may be filing a lemon law claim or trading it in.

The vehicle looks great but it's performance is far from perfect. 2 weeks after purchasing the vehicle, it needed a new transmission! And now, almost 6 months after purchasing the vehicle, one of the back door handles just fell off.

Bought the Trailhawk for my wife. Prior to buying this I test drove all the models in both 4 and 6 cylinder. The 4 is a veritable dog and seriously under powered for the weight of the vehicle. The Cherokee with the 4 cylinder weighs in at just over 5200 lbs and the 6 cylinder at just over 5600 lbs. Went with the TW in 6 cylinder because of the nicer features.

It's my fault for purchasing this high priced piece of hot trash. After owning a 1998 Cherokee that gave me ZERO issues and a half million miles (literally) I decided to try another twenty years later. I'm not stupid, I realize nothing will produce what the old fashioned straight six would in terms of dependability and torque, but it's a new era and it's all about mpg and style. I test drove the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and of course this rolling hemroid before burning my cashier's check away on the Trail Hawk. Ranting about how terrible everything from acceleration to zero torque, to the plastic interior and cramped quarters won't do it any justice. Please just realize that your better off buying a Honda fit and spray painting a 4*4 Badge on it. Their about the same except maybe the fit has more testosterone. I just cannot get over how Daimler murdered this brand name. The other two "jeeps" I test drove had mini van V6 engines in them and also needed a strong wind from the back and a downhill to get up and move. If your thinking of buying a "jeep" after 2003 model year then do what I should have done and burn your money outside the dealership and know it's better than driving out of the lot in your new Fiat with an awd option called jeep. I paid cash for mine and plan on donating it to heritage for the blind or cars for kids in order to regain at least some of my dignity. Rest in peace Jeep.

Everyone is telling the truth about the transmission. It feels like someone is slamming into the back of us. Its so scary. The car putts like a hoopty and is so loud it's embarrassing to be in a new car. I was replacing a luxury edition Mercury Mountaineer so imagine my frustratiin. The battery is missing a bolt, the rear seat belt is broken and we haven't even had it a year. The backup cam froze on me and I almost ran into a wall in my garage. When I noticed how loud the car is, I took it back to the dealership immediately, only to be told everything is fine. Sometimes it shakes so bad you can't see clearly in the mirror. There always feels like something is scraping when we're driving! I was told it could be the software making it jump. There have already been 2 recalls! The air and heat do not barely blow on your feet. This car scares me so much; I don't feel safe in it. I hate this car and want to drive it over a cliff! The sad part is i talked my husband into buying although he wanted something else. Its too much. I cant. . . .

I was reading the negative reviews and I completely sympathize with those that bought a lemon, however, I have to say that I couldn't be happier with my Jeep. This is the first Jeep my wife and I have owned and we absolutely love it. It's the perfect combination of utility, practicality, and outdoorsy fun for our small family and I regularly get 26 mpg on the highway. For a 4WD with skid plates that's not bad. We have luckily not been plaqued by any transmission or engine problems and have honestly nothing really negative to say about this little jeep other than the price is a bit steep in trailhawk clothes. It has had a couple of recalls and software updates but nothing that has yet rendered it to be a pain or a regret. After reading several unhappy reviews the common themes I've noticed are that the four cylinder models seem to leave more people unhappy than the the sixes and the more tech, the more trouble.

I regret buying this jeep. They are not at all made the way they used to be made. Within the first 2 months of having it, the seat in the back bust at the zipper and cannot be repaired - has to be replaced. One week after purchasing I had to take it back in because the tint was bubbling. Now I'm at 15,000 miles and when you turn the car on, the RPMs go up and down and up and down and up and down.... then after about a minute they get back to normal. The transmission does not shift properly and jerks you around. I got the doors wet with rain and now all 4 of the door's interior are bubbling and destroyed. This is the most expensive piece of crap I've ever bought. I am so disappointed in Jeep. Will never buy a new jeep again.

If I could negatively rate my Cherokee I would. I don't even know where to start with the issues... Purchased 3/29/2015- in the shop for the 1st time June 2015 with transmission issues (they claimed it just needed some updates) In the shop for 2nd time 10/1/2015- still with transmission issues. They replaced the valve body and harness. Brought car back home 10/13/2015 Had to bring it back to the shop the very next day, almost got in an accident with the transmission issues, my car stalled in the middle of an intersection. It bucks and has delayed acceleration/gear switching. It kicks itself out of drive while I am driving on the highway. It bucks and stalls in traffic. Had to bring my car back to the shop 10/14/2015 (as of today 10/23/2015 it is still in the shop with no end in sight) and escalated my case with Chrysler. Chrysler and the dealership have been an absolute nightmare to deal with. All I want is a safe car and to have my car bought back from me. Please stay away! Update: Chrysler did not do anything to honor the car being a lemon. I ended up having to take a $5,000 loss, but am in a Nissan Rouge now and I absolutely love it!

Looks like a great vehicle, but it isn't

Transmission problems make this a vehicle to avoid. My 2015 Cherokee (6 cyl, 9 speed transmission) looked great inside and out, and handled nicely. However, the powertrain was a disaster. The engine, the transmission, and the Auto Stop/Start system seemed to have declared war on each other, and the result was a vehicle that made any journey an adventure, in a bad way. It would shift into fourth gear by about 30 mph, then never be able to find an appropriate gear. The transmission's nine speeds should be named clunking, hesitating, surging, hunting, grinding, freewheeling and "3 overdrive gears that are never used". Its transmission was replaced at 900 miles, and started showing the same symptoms at 3000 miles. The vehicle had three recalls and 9 overnight stays in the dealers' repair bays in six months. It was one scary ride. This review is written in the past tense since I sold it to CarMax last month at 3200 miles and bought a 2016 Mazda CX-5 (which I love so far).

I bought a 2015 Trailhawk with the 3.2L V6 about 3 months ago and I love it. I was leaning towards a Charger or similar car and i drove a Jeep Cherokee Latitude and feel loved it. After doing a little research I saw that the Cherokee is a heavy vehicle and the V6 was a much better option. I ended up finding a 2015 Trailhawk model with the 3.2L V6 for a good price and I've been in love ever since. I wasn't sure about the 9 speed transmission 2015 being the first year but I must say I've had no performance issues at all. At 270+ HP it's got plenty of power and i pass people with no problem. It can be a little sluggish off the start while the 4x4 is in auto mode but not if you need a little extra boost put it in Sport Mode and your good to go. I've even taken the Trailhawk off road twice and I was blown away with the performance and ability of my new, "used" SUV. My only complaint is that I've had issues with the 8.5 inch Uconnect touch screen and have read that the issues with it are common but it's getting replaced free of charge. I've heard a ton of complaints about the limited power of the 2.4L 4cyl engine but as far as mine with the V6 so far I couldn't be happier.
