after 80 days stilll not very happy
bought w/ 2 miles on it, 2nd day wouldn't start, been in the shop 6 times & towed once, transmission malfunctioned the ck engine brake & esc light came on then rolled forward down the driveway in reverse, it said service transmission & needed computer updates. when started it idles high then acts like its gonna die & smooth's out, taking off from stop it shimmy's from side to side. on the interstate with cruise @ 70 mph rpms are 2200 but plus or minus 1 mile the rpms drop to 1850, I resorted to video recording every time I got in it as evidence of trouble, have a active case with Jeep but if there is a issue and it doesn't throw a code its not fixable! but I did get a 6/60k free maint. UPDATE: 08/24/16... now after 26 months had the headliner replaced because of a still leaking sunroof and its gotta be replaced again, jeep knows about the leaks but do minimal repairs such as adding a oil based stain guard to scrub stains so they don't show again and its the blame game with Chrysler. they will either try and replace gaskets of frame but hasn't done either one, when its washed or rained on you can hear water above your head making a thumping sound all jeep has done was run some water over it or in one case a cup of water and said cant reproduce the event The transmission went out while driving towed in and updated! lift gate motor replaced 3x's, the back glass broke out at its contact points when it got hot, Chrysler paid for that, front wobble on it was fixed jeep calls its a "JK Wobble" they know about this wobble hence the name for it, they put in a stiffer front axle, burned up a battery because of the lift gate. The transmission shifts very hard both up and down shift causing it to lurch forward even on downshifts, if you try to pass and accelerate but back off the transmission and motor sticks at 3000 rpm and only the forward momentum is your speed once its done whining out then you can slow or accelerate. After all the complaints with Chrysler we ended up with a 5yr/100k warranty plus the 6/60 already added but it doesn't cover a lot of what the 3/36 does. AND when the warranty expires and you get an oil change plus transmission "updates" you must pay for the updates! I paid $31,500 after putting $3k down, it now blue books between $15000 and $1600 half the price. As soon as I get to a point where I can get more out of it on trade I will NEVER EVER buy another Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge and that's coming from someone who last 3 purchases were new dodge/Jeep vehicles that I traded off after their warranties expired.

Solution for transmission and all negative reviews
There are a lot of unfair negative reviews for the Cherokee KL. Like any relationship, the solution is to listen… in this case to the vehicle messages and dealer service center. Yes, I too was frustrated at 7k miles when my transmission cut power on the freeway and I had to pull over, but I listened to the vehicle message prompts and was on my way to the dealer in ‘Limp Home Mode’. The industry’s first 9-speed transmission is incredible, but not perfect and it actually knows that by including a fail-safe of putting the Jeep in 4th gear while in DRIVE allowing speeds up to 40 mph. PARK, REVERSE, and NEUTRAL all still work according to the owner’s manual… yes, I actually read it and the service manager did not know all this which was annoying. It was also annoying that after a suspect ‘computer control update’, the transmission dropped 2 days later at the exact same location. I read up on the issue and had a sensible discussion with the service manager who agreed to install the improved 2015 design. FCA contacted me with a claim number and provided a rental car along with a voucher for 5 free oil services. My V6 Cherokee now has 34k miles on it with no issues, other than a noticeable shift from 2nd to 3rd which I understand is worse with the 4cyl, but nothing is defective. The Chrysler 200, Acura TLX/MDX, Land Rover Evoque/Discovery Sport share the same 9-speed and same complaints/good reviews. I did too much research and test drove many crossovers to find the Cherokee to be the best value bar none; 100k mile warranty, Smooth V6, over 270 HP, 4,500 lb. towing, 7 sec 0-60, over 30 mpg hwy, industry’s best 8.4” infotainment system, standard leather finishes, LED lighting, lots of hidden storage space which explains why reviews claim ‘less cargo space than competitors’ as in visible cargo... all for about $20k new. These features are better than base ‘premium’ crossovers which explains why the Cherokee is marketed in Europe as a Premium model. FCA did provide some oil changes years ago but did not put me up to writing this review. Good work making things right Jeep, I’d definitely buy another and recommend it to others as well.

Big disappointment
Bought the 2014 jeep latitude for my daughter , thinking it would be a safe car... Boy was I wrong! It has been serviced 3 times already for transmission issues... It won't accelerate.. Shifting very hard.. Can't find the right gear half the time... It rides great on highway if you can get on highway without getting killed .. If that's not bad enough we now get a gas smell throughout the car after filling the tank... And they say they can't find anything wrong... DO Not buy this car...

I hate this car!
I was so excited to get a new Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I have been a Jeep owner for the past 14 years. I dislike the hard shifting in the lower gears. It has been in the dealer 3 times now with 4000 miles. The first time was due to a clunking noise when shifting - I was told there was nothing wrong. 2nd time for an oil leak. Now it has been in the garage for 2 days due to a transmission fluid leak. It was barely drivable- stuttering at every accererlation in low gears. Ridiculous!
