Starting to dim at 90K
I have really been pleased with it. However, at 90K the rear differential has got noisy (an $1800. repair if you don't like noise). This Jeep eats brakes like french fries. I'm on my 5th set. The AC controls are breaking down also. I was hoping for 125K, before retiring it, but I'm wondering what's next. I paid 17K new. No absolute major repairs.
Still going and going
This baby has never let me down. It even ran on little transmission fluid not once but twice. Two great stories. No major difficulties. I have kept the maintenance well and she has never let me down. Multiple trips from DC area to Buffalo in winter and no concerns. Great off road ability not like todays small SUV's (overgrown station wagons) A great reliable vehicle, I'm glad I get to keep it and am upset I have to get a commuter car to save on gas. New brakes at 52000 miles, now have over 117k and no problems, still has original shocks, which do need replaced by now. otherwise, it keeps going. wish new jeeps were this reliable bring back the 4.0 or the equivalent diesel.

Best Vehicle I've Ever Owned
This has been the best vehicle I've owned. Although it has been in the shop a few times (it's a Jeep) it's still going. It gets me where I need to go when and how I need to get there. As a jeep that is stock, it outperforms some of its competitors in the off-roading department. My brother also has one. He has a great photo of his jeep pulling a Ford 4x4 (with all the extra add-ons for four- wheeling) out of the mud. If you're looking for an SUV that can haul, tow, drive through snow and mud w/o any difficulties, Jeep is the one! One more thing. When the back seat is folded flat, I can fit a dining room set with six chairs and the table. Tons of room!
Jeep the only way to Drive
Well except for the dealership I bought the jeep from it has been a wonderful experience and I am not starting the slow process of building it up for really radical off-roading fun. This thing is truly the sports car of SUV's. I can take corners almost as well as a lot of the modern muscle cars and with a rolling start (30mph-40mph) I can keep up with some of the big boys until I hit 95 or so then I back off :) PLEASE REMEMBER This is a SUV and as such it has a HIGHER Center of gravity
This Jeep is tough
I have put this jeep through alot in the few months that ive owned it(car accident that almost totaled it) After that it came back better then before surprising to me. This vehicle has had new pads and the rotors turned once nothing to bad sinc i did it myself. Starts fine when the temp dips below 0. Very good vehicle.
2000 Jeep Cherokee 4x4
Excellent utility. One of the few vehicles made in the US which can be relied upon to exceed 200,000 miles if regularly serviced. "Jeepers" refer to them as BABY TANKS!
Jeep Cherokee Rocks!
We bought this SUV when we moved into a neighborhood in New Hampshire where the roads were unpaved and the 1/2 mile of road to our new house rutty, muddy, and not maintained by our town. This Jeep has performed beautifully in the multiple ice and snowstorms we have had and has done nicely in getting me out of the driveway when a foot of snow was still on the ground. I absolutely love the style of the Cherokee and do love the way it handles. I am so sad they have discontinued it!
Excellent value
I've had a great experience - this is my third jeep, and I'll get another after this one.
Real SUV
I purchased my Cherokee with 42000 miles on it. except for few minor annoyances such as transfer case lever that vibrates now and again, an exaust system that vibrates a little on start up on cold days and a minor recall this vehicle has been very reliable. This is the real deal, not a car with 4WD so expect more of truck like experience. I wish jeep had up dated the cherokee in the same vein as the Grand Cherokee; by keeping the solid front axle etc.
Average SUV
This Jeep is what I consider an average SUV. It is definitely not carlike. It is great off-road and in the snow. It's not so great for stop and go traffic or higher freeway speeds. The ride tends to be rough around town, but it's pretty smooth on a good highway. The engine has great power but sucks way too much gas for it's size. The styling is better than most SUV's out there. The interior is smaller than it would seem by looking at it from the outside. There are rattles here and there, especially from the transfer case shifter, and the exhaust can be a little loud at times. Overall, this jeep has some good features and some bad. It's average.
2000 Jeep Cherokee
This is a great little run around vehicle. Built like a tank. Almost 10 years old and we still can take it to the club without "shame" Seats fold down & we can haul a ton of stuff.
2000 Cherokee Sport 4 X 4
We have had this vehicle for about 2.5 years now and put 51000 miles on it and it has been great. Joy to drive and just a few small repairs. Gas milage is right at what the sticker says and lots of pep out of the 4.0 six. Haven't used the 4 wheel drive much, just for a few snow storms, but it worked great.
2000 Cherokee Classic in Chile
With my family we like to be able to leave the weekends, to be in contact with the nature, our Cherokee has occurred excellent experiences and we have been able to arrive with the practically to any place, it is comfortable, perhaps the consumption is high, but he has a very reliable and powerful motor. And we feel very sure in the one it is a solid vehicle.
I friggin love my jeep
My family bought this jeep used (2000 cherokee sport 4wd) when I was just a child.. am full grown now. I absolutely love this car so much, it has the classic - boxy - rectangle - goofy look which I adore, something you will never find today. Engine was redone around 200k although it wasn’t needed. Am pushing 270k now and is running as strong as ever. Sure I have spent some money on maintenance here and there, like radiators, hoses, calipers, brakes, etc. but it’s all cheap cause it’s a jeep! The most reliable car I have ever owned, hell its the only car I have ever owned. Was passed down onto me. I laugh at other people and their cars, always having issues and costly repairs. My buddy and I have a joke, that if something goes wrong with a Jeep, just hit it with a hammer and fire her back up, the problem will be magically fixed! Oh how I wish I was kidding. This thing just keeps on pushing. I would buy up all these cherokees if I could, I want them all
Very nice suv
I would buy a nother one if I could

My Tow vehicle
I originally purchased this vehicle as a tow vehicle behind my motorhome. During the past year I have towed it from Florida to California and back. Of course it does not ride like a big sedan, but it sure is handy for exploring the various areas when we are camping. Mine is a four cylinder model with a standard transmission. Have had no problems. It is very dependable and easy to drive and park.
dont buy a jeep
Loud noisy engine. Uncomfortable rough bumpy ride. VERY VERY VERY bad brakes for all jeeps, ROTORS are all made inferior as per factory rep.
Will take you anywhere in style.
M More trucklike than car. Great field of vision all around the car.No blindspots. The engine is strong &quick. Rear seats pop out for extra room. ore truck than carlike ride.
my awesome white cherokee sport
