The jeep
I have always wanted a Jeep then my boyfriend gave me this Jeep I love it. This car has been the best car I have ever had fun to drive comfortable and will go any were. Starts every time. Mine even gets 21 mpg
Built like a tank
I have owned this Jeep since it was new. It has 200,000 miles on it, and the only major thing I've done to it was have the radiator worked on. My 16 year daughter starting driving it about 3 months ago. She had a rollover accident two days ago on a wet road going uphill, but she came out of this without a scratch! It ripped the back door off, there's a big dent on top on the passenger side. The front fenders were dented and the grill is missing. Mind you, there are no airbags. This Jeep is built like a tank. We will either fix it or buy another one like it.

My 93 is great
I'm original purchaser of 1993 Cherokee Sport 4D 4WD and am glad I did. Almost 180,000 miles so far. Have had to replace all the usuals but perform most maintenance myself. Easier to work on than many others. Traveled from Key West to Maine. A 12 hour drive from NC to MA isn't painful. Mileage as advertised but just got 22 on last tank w/snow tires. Awful standard shocks - get Ranchos. A/C works great. Has become hot on stalled roads - pop hood and turn heat on. If you want a problem fixed right - don't take it to a dealer! I am not kidding! Very fun to drive - don't try snow w/o snow tires.
The Jeep That Could (Jeep Cheeroke Sport
My Jeep is amazing. I have almost 200,000 miles and it still drives perfectly. It is the perfect college car, and I drive it both in the city where my school is, as well is in the country where my home is. I drive it on the highyway almost everyday, and it still chugs along. I take it on the beach, and I have added many features to it. I have done very little to this Jeep, and the way it runs now, I expect to last at leat 3 more years. That would make the car almost 20 years old! The body looks great. In all honesty I know that my Jeep is going to start evey time and it is extremely reliable. Plus you can go virtually anywhere, or through anything (snow/mud/sand/forest).
170K miles and going strong
I purchased my Jeep with 72K miles on it 5.5 years ago. Since, I have put 100K additional miles on with ZERO major mechanical problems. Just normal maintainance. The power locks have stopped working and the windows only work from the drivers door, but no big loss. Starts every time I turn the key and goes right on down the road. I would purchase another Jeep in a heartbeat if they would make one that gets 30+ mpg. the 20 mpg is killing me on my 50 mile commute to and from work.
perfect jeep
this is the 5th jeep vehicle i have had and by far it is the best all around 4 wheel drive i have owned. i have tried the cj's, full sized jeeps an trucks, and this xj now has 110,000 miles and has never given me any trouble. it is roomy enough for the family and i yet small enough to take anywhere i decide to go and there has never been a concern about its off-road ability. awesome wheeling!!
1993 Cherokee
At 190K I gave the Jeep to my daughter a year ago. It is now up to 199K. The only problems I have had with it have been self inflicted. At 100K I use and oil additive to increase engine life. It has needed a quart of oil every month since. It never used a drop before. I replace the windshield because of a couple of bad niks. The windshield has leaked ever since. I change the oil every 3 months and it still runs great.
Very pleased
I bought my Jeep used from an individual 3 months ago. Since I got my Jeep I put new main and rod bearings in it. I have been pleased with it ever since.
When the dealer doesn't do it right....
The saga of the wifes Jeep Country crapping out on the PA Turnpike goes back to only 3 weeks ago and a $450 bill for a belt and water pump. The car dies a horrible death with a warped head when loosing coolant at 60 mph. Not the dealers fault of course as he just fixed the water pump only 300 miles earlier. Bottom line - some engines run a long time with proper maintenance like this one had, and some DONT...
Shoot This Horse
I have mixed feelings about putting this one down. She's got 304k miles, and I've put on all but 36k of those. Little stuff mostly has gone on this..new transmission on 9/11/01..otherwise, it has been OK..hard to complain with no car payment for the past 12 years! It failed emissions a couple of weeks ago, and a mechanic and good friend put it on the computer, did compression, etc. The 4th cylinder has no compression..so it's basically a goner. It drove like a truck, squeaked from the day I got it, and had a few puzzling breakdowns..none that I couldn't fix on my own, once I got the Haynes repair manual. Buying a used Accord tomorrow, and will just borrow a truck when I need one
93 Jeep Cherokee Country
This is an amazing truck. It can do almost anything. great on and off road and super power and torque for a six cylinder. Best SUV i ever owned and will ever own! Very trusted and reliable Vehicle.!!! If you take care of it it will last forever
Beater with a heater.
I bought my 93 2 door 4 cyl. With 223,000 miles, replace cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and fan, and now its getting 20 + overall mpgs. Even as a 2 door it holds 4 people with comfort. I work in 2 way communications, and thus have taken this Jeep places I dont think it should have been. It runs awesome in more then 2 feet of snow. The only problem is the door hinges.
A
I'm just a 17 year old, but am very interested in cars! My mom handed her car down to me, a '93 Jeep Country Cherokee, and it has been fun. I have had to replace the rear end 3 times thought, and the interior is getting rough. Still in great condition for being old and having 130,000 miles. The engine is loud, and its not an instant starter, you have to hold the ignition for about 5 seconds to start it. Overall, and good starter car, but not a long term car, for me. DEFINITLY NOT A GOOD TRAVELING CAR! My family and I went to Maryland and Washington D.C. a few summers ago in it, and with four people in it, its rather tight. Especially a 6' brother!!!
Jeeps rule
I bought my Jeep when it was 13 years old and had tons of miles on it already, I added many more miles which were fairly rough ones, I live were we get a lot of snow and never had any trouble with it ( except when the snow hit 4 feet )It would go anywhere I wanted, I hauled hay and a horse trailed up steep hills and my husband hauled his large boat, it did great, we finally upgraded to a Liberty Turbo diesel, but I'm looking to go back to the Cherokee, you just can't beat the room in the back to haul stuff, I've had several jeeps and the Cherokee is by far the best! can't wait to buy another one.
rust bucket
Bought the vehicle new. Had problems with right front wheel/tire since day one - always needed air - problem with "rim" never properly fixed causing vehicle to often shake over 55mph, stereo speakers sound awful, cruise and air went years ago, leak in roof (roof rack) ran down the inside of the car for years (undetected) until the entire rocker rotted out, soaking rugs, rusted out the entire roof over the front window, and starting shorting out the entire electrial system. Front bumper rusted badly. Would never buy again.
Bring back the Cherokee...
I love my jeep. It is an incredibly reliable vehicle and has never left me stranded. The power is more than enough for a vehicle this size, but you do trade off with poor fuel economy (15mpg in town, 20 on hwy). Why the idiots in the ivory towers of Chrysler decided to discontinue the Cherokee is a complete mystery to a lot of people. The Liberty doesn't have the same tough- ass look as the Cherokee and has entirely too much plastic. Maybe they will realize their mistake before too long. My next vehicle will be a Grand Cherokee.
love it
we bought it in 93 we have driven it from florida to where we live now in utah and every month we drive to wendover, NV and the thing has never been in the shop a month ago we changed the transmission fluid we realized that that was the first time it had ever been changed. it gets the best gasmiliage we have the 2wd with the 4.0 inline 6 we love it!!! joseph 9-24-03
Great Vehicle
I have owned my 1993 Cherokee for 11 years now. I am the original owner and bought it brand new. I have not had ANY problems with this vehicle outside of normal maintenance, wear, and tear. I have replaced brakes and a clutch. I used this vehicle to read electric meters for five years in rural parts of Florida. The only reason I am selling it now is because my wife just bought a Yukon and I am taking her Explorer. The only comlaint I have is that the airconditioning for this vehicle was not adequate. I have the four cylinder model and I guess the small compressor was due to that set up.
My first new car...lasted 12 years
It is my trusty, rusting TANK with 170,000 mi and still breathing, low maintenace. started burning a little oil at about 140,000. 1- Water pump replaced (vanes were actually corroded OFF). Very reliable, only mystery was a failed crankshaft position sensor that caused much frustration (stalling) until diagnosed. Heats up quickly these days in the warmer weather. Had 7/70,000 warranty ....rust started about 8/90,000. Squeaky...replaced the CV joints. Keep front suspension in check and tires in good repair to avoid the "Death Wobble" (look it up). Interior a little noisy. Backend a little light in slippery conditions, easy to overpower turns with the 4.0L.
awsome 93 cherokee
The Cherokee has been an awsome vehicle. It has 143,000 miles on it and still goin strong. Runs well offroad .... many upgrades available. Only things to go out are things that time would wear on any vehicle. Would buy again.
Urban Warrior
Ironically, the Jeep is a great vehicle for Southern Cal in-traffic driving. It starts right up and warms up quickly, is fast off the line, and shifts smoothly. Tight situations are no problem either. Visibility is good, and because of its compact size, turning into tight spots and parking are a breeze. Reliability has been average. In the 14 years I've owned it, I had the rear main seals replaced @ 50k, the crankshaft sensor @ 70k, and the heater core went out @ 75k. Radiator was replaced @ 85k. Gas mileage has been 13 mpg in strict city driving. The switch off, though, has been the excellent power (4.0 six is an outstanding engine), and ease of driving.
Love
I've had my Jeep for around 11 years and it's always been reliable. We've definitely been stuck a few times [I really wish mine was 4WD] but the Jeep loves the dirt roads At 160,000 miles now, the only problem I've had with it is that the air conditioner (maybe?) is leaking underneath the passengers front seat and behind it. I ripped up the carpet and found out that the floor is badly rusted. There are some small holes where you can see the ground & it spits up mud when driving, so I covered it with a floor mat. It doesn't effect the performance so it's all good. Great great truck. I'll be very sad when she dies, which I doubt will be for a while.
reliable & tough
I've had my Cherokee for about 6 months now. When I first got it, it had a lot of problems; mainly because of the carelessness of the previous owner. It had a terrible death wobble around 45 mph that I could not figure out. I replaced the transmission mount, a motor mount, shocks, steering stabilizer, and track bar mount. But it still shook. Finally, I replaced one of the track bar bushings that was pretty much gone, and it solved the problem.
Great truck
Mine has 275000 on it it's a good truck get you anywhere you want to go over half the parts are from 1993 great truck

MY LAST ONE...
I purchased this Jeep in 11/05 with 37k miles on it from a private seller. Although the pre-purchase inspection revealed a previous front left bumper collision, I decided to buy it because it fit my budget and utility. It rattled and squeaked from day one, nothing serious, but indicative of the body integrity knocks that showed up in consumer reviews. The previous collision turned out to be more damaging than realized, and the frame needed $600 worth of welding to make sure the steering box didn't fall off. It has had a bunch of repairs--new transmission on 9/11/01, ignition control module, alternator, starter, radiator, tension pulley, power steering pump, water pump.
93 Cherokee Sport
6 cyl automatic 4.0 -- really like engine. Reliable, dependable, good acceleration.
Awesome Vehicle
I absolutely love my 1993 Jeep Cherokee 4WD Country, and so does everyone who has seen it or ridden in it. I receive so many compliments on it, never ever one complaint. I love how it looks, how it drives, and how many looks I get driving it. :) My only complaint is the fuel economy. I get pretty bad gas mileage. Other than that, I'd drive it forever if I could.
jeep
it is a very reliable car.
Repair cost a fortune!
Noisy, bouncy and fun to drive. The inline six is an excellent engine and mine leaks no oil at 170,000 miles. It appears to have been partially overhauled around 70,000 miles. Repairs cost a fortune. Replaced tire rods, clutch, brake work, cat converter. parts are ridiculously expensive, double what most cars' parts cost in most cases. LAbor is high because of design as well. Windsheild wiper motors are pieces of crap.
Seminole Ride
One of the most reliable vehicles I have every owned. 150,000 miles and doesn't use a drop of oil. I have replaced the water pump once and the battery twice. Very strong for a in- line six.
Good Friend
This has been an exceptionally dependable car....has always started... used the 4WD several winters....would buy another....and will do that!
Rocky start, but worth it
Got mine used with 45K miles; at 50K, I had to put a new transmission in it. Since then, it has been great... 150K miles and it cranks right up. I have to drive it like a maniac in the Houston traffic, and it has held up well. The inline 6 has great acceleration, and its size allows easy maneuverability. Also, have taken 10 or so trips from east Texas to middle Georgia over the past seven years... never had a problem.
Can't go wrong...
Bought this Cherokee in 99, my second. The first went 237K before being totaled, still ran great though. This one has 158K, looks and runs great, only significant problem in 5 years was replacing the radiator. Decently maintained these things will run forever. Our 17 year old babysitter is buying it, should get her through high school AND college.
Great truck
Bought with 100K on it in 2000, now has 185K. I've put maybe 4 grand into it, from regular maintenance (tires/oil/brakes/tune ups), to a radiator, steering box/pump, water pump, A/C compressor, cables and maybe more. I'd do it all over again. This thing goes 300 miles a week just for work. I live in NC and have been to the Everglades, Quebec (2x), Jersey several times and all through the South. I can put 2 kayaks, 2 bikes and camping gear in it and go a thousand miles and this bear just keeps going. I love the vehicle for its dependability, tough style and power. Yea, it's a few bucks to put into a vehicle, but it's cheaper than a car payment, and the insurance is dirt cheap.
ALL THINGS CONSIDERED...
I BOUGHT THIS JEEP FROM A PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL IN LATE 1995 WITH 37,000 MILES ON IT. SINCE THEN, I HAVE AVERAGED 21,000 MILES A YEAR. THE SUSPENSION IS TRUCK-LIKE, EVEN WITH NEW SHOCKS. I HAD ONE VERY FRUSTRATING PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION RELAY, BUT WAS ABLE TO SOLVE IT CHEAPLY ONCE I LEARNED THE CAUSE. IT RATTLES AND SQUEAKS HERE AND THERE, BUT THAT IS INHERENT IN THESE JEEPS. "FUEL ECONOMY" IS AN OXYMORON..20 MPG ON THE ROAD IF I'M LUCKY.
jeep
I am very satisfied with my Cherokee. I believe that it is one of the best values for the money. My Cherokee has over 200,000 miles on it and has never left me stranded or without transportation. The only things that I have ever replaced on it are the power steering pump and the alternator. Both started to make noise and I was able to replace them before they failed completely.
Good Sound Used Auto
Very nice and dependable automobile.
