Used 1996 Isuzu Rodeo Consumer Reviews
Very Safe Vehicle
My 4WD Rodeo has served me well over the past 7 years. We take long trips (1000 mi one way) with no problems. The key I believe is REGULAR maintenance (30k mi services). I have been rear-ended 3 times and 1 front end collision in 7 years. The other vehicles all sustained much more damage than my Rodeo. I love the REAL Steel bumpers on the 1996 model. No after market parts except fog lights. I don't understand why this model was rated so poorly in safety tests. My family prefer to ride in the Rodeo that our Legend when the weather is bad. We just go to four wheel drive and never worry. Highly recommended.
Love my Rodeo
Bought my '96 with 91K miles after much review and a short rental. I love the way this SUV handles tight with no top heavy feeling. I run Michelin tires and this always improve handling. I have replaced the alternator and starter, just normal wear and tear. Love the way the Japanese make rubber parts to last and last. At 12 years old this is still one clean and sharp truck. I would buy another in a minute and recommend to all. Truck has an odd oil reading, constantly 1 quart low but no reason? I have had my mechanic comment this is the same with all Rodeos and I have no related problems. Head gaskets haven't been super tight since purchase but they are hanging in there just fine.
LEMON? OR JUST BAD CAR!
I, as well as other friends I've discussed with have had back door locks freeze up and require replacement. At this time, both of my back doors DO NOT open. Idle is not right, oil leaks, radiator leaks (keep in mind, NO accidents in this vehicle). Now exhaust system needs repair...they quote $2500. I will opt to donate this piece of garbage to unfortunate charity just for tax purposes. Do yourself a favor...Do NOT buy!
Love It
I have had my rodeo for 4 years now and am still loving it. I have found it to be reliable with no major mechanical defects. It has also proved very stable on bad roads and bad weather. The 4WD system works well and is easy to operate. I agree with the others that the seats can be uncomfortable on long trips. My front bumper is beginning to rust now
Great Truck
My rodeo has been an excellant vehicle. I did have to have the entire air conditioning unit replaced within the first 2 years of owning the car, but thankfully it was under warranty.
