Horrible Gas Mileage U
Buyer beware. I just purchased a 2016 Genisis at Carmax (never again will I shop there). Their quality control is horrible. I am only getting 11.8 mpg. driving on the "economy" setting. I love the car, but will have to sell it since I cannot afford this awful gas mileage. I have logged this mpg by filling the gas tank and clocking the miles (several times). When I returned it to carmax to have it checked out for possible reasons this could be happening, I was told "It is because of the age of the car". Wait, what...... a 3 year old car should get this bad mileage because of the age?!

Buyer Beware!
This is my review of why Buyer BEWARE: in my experience, The Hyundai staff is not given the resources to handle the "Genesis" brand! I was told by the Hyundai dealership when I purchased my MSRP $52,000 Genesis that Apple car play was coming to it soon. We have it on ALL our other vehicles, factor it into our purchases, and prefer it to Manufacturer stock interface systems. As such, I received an email 6 months later saying I could download the software update to add Apple Car Play... but when trying or download it from the link Hyundai VIN specifically sent me ...it didn't work!!! It only works with the base radio but not the upgraded Lexicon stereo system. I was mislead, and overall That is ridiculous! I paid $3,500 more for the Ultimate package! And they add it to the base radio and not the others' I traded is an 2015 Ford F-150, which they had sold before I left the dealership. Talking about residual leads me to my next point. 2nd- Horrible DEPRECIATION: -One of the main questions I asked since I leased the vehicle is "how strong are the residual values?! " I was advised by one the Hyundai manager's that they are excellent only to Find out it realistically trade-in values on Hyundai Genesis is quite horrible!! I have bought 5 vehicle In 3 years and this might be one of the worst in this auto industry Segment . A tech loaded and good product but Unfortunately due to Genesis being attached to Hyundai, which is not a Luxury brand, this cars falls like An Overboard anchor deep into the Marianas trench! I felt I bought this well only to see the overall Facade! ! Can't state it enough- For reference - I also bought a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee $44,000 MSRP, or $7,500 less than the 2016 Genesis but get this... the Jeep is worth way MORE than The Genesis today, only 11 months later... both being 2016 models or 35%+ depreciation vs 17% for the Jeep. I can trade it in tomorrow and I have it only 8 months and Get what I owe on it nothing out of pocket . A tech loaded, and good looking product but Unfortunately, due to "Genesis" being attached to Hyundai, and trying to upgrade image, which is not yet a Luxury brand, these car falls like An Overboard anchor deep into the Marianas trench!!! In my experience, Wait for Genesis to have its own identity... I don't believe Hyundai is committed to its clients , and not sure what Genesis will become - Their customer service is poor, and they rely on we have good value products without having the DEEP foundation of personal support, especially for $50k+ luxury car market. Most Hyundai's sales probably average $20k or so so this is an unproven market Contacted Hyundai , and for some reason their more expensive vehicle are Not good enough for retro car play but the lesser models can ALL get it!! !! Nice car, Bad services!!! FAIL ! HOPEFULLY THE GENESIS BRAND WILL BE A BETTER SUPPORTED PRODUCT BEYOND ALL THE HYPE AND PAPER DEPTH.

Next Lexus?
Overall great car but ride not as serene as my Lexus. Reliability not as good as Lexus. Other Genisis owners have felt trade in values not as high as expected, especially when shopping for new model Genisis. I am waiting for 2017 G80 and G90 before deciding.

The most car for the money
We bought a Hyundai Genesis 3.8 sedan & it's great. We got more car for our money. One of the ratings comparisons in Consumer Reports suggests you shop for a Mercedes E class as well as the Genesis. 'nuf said.

Overall best car I’ve ever owned!
I bought this cat after owning an Audi and a Mercedes because I was looking to stay in high end luxury. After seeing a Genesis on the road, I was instantly drawn to its raked and sporty yet elegant lines. I decided it was time to go see what they were all about. Knowing this was a Hyundai I had my reserves. When I test drove my car for the first time, I couldn’t believe the build quality, solid ride, and ultra luxurious interior. I traded in my Tri-Star on the spot. I have owned the car since new, and besides regular oil changes and 1 recall for a potentially faulty parking brake switch (which Hyundai dealt with swiftly), this car has given me 0 problems and 2-1/2 yrs of absolute driving enjoyment. Genesis is the real deal and is equal to and in many ways better than its German and Japanese counterparts, at a price point of a domestic car with far less toys. Get behind the wheel for a test drive, you won’t regret it...

Fully loaded trim is AWESOME!
This car rides smooth and I'm very glad I waited for the "Ultimate" trim package. It's so comfortable. Controls are intuitive.
Catchy Title
Excellent automobile. Four years with no mechanical problems. This is my second Genesis so it is actually eight years. Can't go wrong with a Genesis,
Elegant workhorse- best car I have ever owned
I have owned this car for 2 years now. Put tens of thousands of km on it without a hitch. Car is incredibly reliable comfortable, quiet, great in snow, strong braking, and plenty of power. My one and only complaint is fuel economy is not great (this car would be incredible as a hybrid or diesel). It drives likes a 5 series BMW or E class Mercedes without the ridiculous repair costs or reliability issues. Highly recommended

No heat and no help
I would have given my Hyundai five stars but then I had a problem the heat would not be directed to the floor period when you put the icon in the floor position all the hot air blue on the defrost and – exhaust vents. In order to drive the car in the winter in Chicago where it gets cold had to take off my shoes and put my feet up on the dash to keep them warm how ridiculous and how unsafe. I bought the car used from pugi, in Downers Grove illinois. The car was still under warranty way under warranty when I bought it. I took the car to two dealerships to fix the heat problem which made the car so undrivable in winter that I actually had to use my 2011 Lincoln a far inferior vehicle but it had heat. When I went to the first dealer Rogers Hyundai in Chicago they told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with the vehicle and that if any more heat would come out of the car it would quotes melt the plastic. They charged me nothing under the warranty did nothing to address my heat problem at all I then took the car back to where I bought it thepugidealership in Downers Grove. They also told me they would do nothing to help correct the problem a problem which meant that there was virtually 0% heat going to the floor your feet are always cold immediately. They told me the car was working as designed even though one of their technicians had told me that the air was blowing out the wrong vents. They never even unscrewed the dash they never asked me to replicate the problem in my opinion they have been directed by Hyundai not to address this problem which obviously would be extraordinarily complicated if not impossible to fix. Based on the reviews here I'm alone in my criticism of what was otherwise a phenomenal vehicle but undrivable in Chicago Winters I will pursue all available legal remedies against Honda which I believe was a known defect in my vehicle or these types of vehicles and was not disclosed to me. If anybody has any ideas I was really appreciate your advice but I have had more than one mechanic look at the car it's not complicated to direct the heat to the feet it's a button or two and virtually nothing comes out by the feet even when the fan is in high blast. Nevertheless I was told by two dealerships to basically go to hell period subsequent calls to the service departments and subsequent calls to Hyundai the company have resulted in nothing but them telling me everything is fine and there's nothing they are going to do nothing. I have no health conditions my feet are fine every other car that I've owned in my 50 years of driving has given me approximately 10 to 20 times the amount of heat to my feet as this Hyundai Genesis does. I have been to more than one mechanic who cannot believe that Hyundai would say this is a normal operating vehicle they just laugh at me for buying this car.

The ride you only want to take once in your life!!
The 2016 Genesis roller coaster ride from hell. Only 6 days after leasing this car till today I have lived a true nightmare and let Hyundai Corporate tell it , oh It’s not that big of a deal 😭🤥. A new car with only 7 miles when i purchased it. It has been in the shop a total of 65+ days. Hyundai does not value their customers or customers safety. I will never buy Hyundai again.

Six cylinder is more than sufficient to excite. I'd probably be in jail if I had bought the 8! Adaptive cruise control and cooled seats are #1 for me; did not find these in other cars of this category. On "test" track beat out many Mustangs (Mustang club event) - awesome!!!

MOSTLY GREAT CAR--NAVIGATION & MILEAGE SUCKS!!!
For all the features, luxury and styling you get it's still a great car. My issues are: the Navigation System is truly awful. So bad I still have to use my phone. The interface is BAD--should be quicker/more user friendly in order to keep your eyes off the road as minimally as possible. The worst part is--the maps! They are sooo outdated--even when the car was brand new. I have repeatedly asked for updates and am always told there aren't any. From the beginning it needed an update. It also pisses me off that even if I could get one, I have to PAY for them. My car is now 3 years old and still no map updates?? Ridiculous. It also always takes me on a completely different route than the other 2 map apps I use do. And it's never a better choice. I love the heads up display as I can always keep my eyes on the road--thus the navigation was a big selling point for me. I also had an accident where the bottom front of the car was scraped up/damaged pretty badly. (Steering column). The car has never been the same. Interestingly enough--it's NOT the steering! All good there. I have low battery warnings on both fobs (the spare I never use, just tried it b/c I kept getting the warning light--it's obviously the car and not the fobs), the 4 sensors go off randomly (not even near another car...), the Haptic Steering light has come on a few times...also other random ! light comes on for no apparent reason. Some of these issues were happening pre accident, but I feel the car has never been the same since. They should be able to fix their own car CORRECTLY. I wish I could break up these paragraphs but it won't let me, sorry. I have also had excessive revving/no shift to next gear at high speeds. Mileage is horrible in the city--about 13 mpg. The best I have EVER gotten on a long stretch on the interstate is 29 mpg. Oh! Last thing--NO heated steering wheel nor heated backseats!! Apparently only if you buy the 5.0 do you get these. Totally lame on a fully loaded car in this price range. My mid optioned Kia Optima had both!! Also wish it had a folding back seat so larger/longer items could fit.

Peons selling a great automobile
I am a medical professional and this is my second Genesis 90. Literally, I adore this car. It is everything you expect from high end car and more. It has prevented me from several accidents. There is not one single option you want ant it isn’t offered. Now, I have lost 4 tires in 6 months. The dealership does not stock those tires and replacement takes three days. It’s very inconvenient to say the least. Once I lost a tire on a Saturday and the service department was closed. A manager refused to loan me a car. Later it took three day to have my tired replaced. The Sales Department is a joke. They are trained to sell the very popular brand of Hyundai and do not reach even close to cater to professionals who can afford the price of a G90. These peons, I think, are responsible for the drop of G90 sales in the US. The G90 can compete hands down with any luxury sedan in the US market. By the way it’s worth to mention that the manager of service of my dealership is absolutely delightful to work with. I wish I could have the time to tell a few anedoctal stories that happened with me but I don’t think it is the proper forum

Nice car, feel I may have overpaid for a "Hyundai". Lots of bells and whistles. Nondescript design as I have lost it in a parking lot and confused it for Chyrsler 200.

The v8 does not seem necessary, enough power for most people. Poor tire wear, wouldn’t last the lease! ( most be inferior specs on Michelin tires ) great trunk layout.

Climate control or lack thereof
I love the power and handling of this sedan. In sport mode, it will put many "sports cars" to shame. I have all the options. I particularly love the HUD and the route guidance on the HUD. I find the ride very comfortable and quiet. The driver conforming seat helps you stay in place while you zip around those turns. Now the not so good.... You cannot run the vent without the AC coming on. The only time you get pure vent is when the "Smart Ventilation" comes on automatically because the air tight cabin has built up to much CO2 in it. Finally, when your feet are cold in the winter forget about this car warming them up. It will fry your brains while giving you virtually nothing out the of the bottom vents! I even had the climate control system replaced with minimal improvement! Finally, had a chance to take a road trip. 55000 miles and 7 years old - drove our Genesis to the Grand Canyon in the heat of summer. It handled 112 degree heat, mountain roads and my lead foot with no problem. Still love the car. I will keep it at least till my 10 year extended warranty (that I bought) runs out.

The most underrated luxury sedan
I am and still driving my 16 Genesis V6 HTRAC that is fully optioned. Bought it in 2019 at 45k miles and I knew it had some flaws from the previous owner...which wasn't a problem. It had an accident reported that was rear ended. Interior needed some detailing and the entire body was repainted. The car drives super smooth and feels better than any BMW and mercedes I've ever drove. The layout for everything in the car is easy to spot and use even for others who never drove or owned a Hyundai. Since owning this car, I've done nothing but its routine oil changes between 5k-7.5k miles, did 2 intake valve cleaning (using crc intake valve cleaning), threw a set of continental tires on, k&n cabin and filter, oem brakes and rotors, remote starter, at 70kmiles did a transmission fluid FLUSH with changing its filter as well, and sometimes I have use octane 93 fuel on days I just feel like using it or to mix with octane 87(nothing has gone wrong yet). Car is sitting at 80k miles now and it drives super smooth. Had no problems with it but the stupid anchor seat belt on the passenger side, the parking sensor on the front is acting funny once in awhile as there is something close to the car even though nothing is there when I am in traffic, and the panoramic sunroof doesn't close when you slide the whole glass opens. My Genesis performs well in all types of weather(even in the extreme cold and rain). Traction is good enough as you drive casually but not for hard cornering. Vehicle is pretty much a boat. In the snow, I can even slide the car around with traction control off. Best thing about this vehicle is that it was very underrated as it was never made it to the spotlight because people still make the same excuse saying “its still a Hyundai ”...at least from my side. With how much car it is for its price, its hard to beat in my opinion. Now that its a luxury brand itself, the value of the 15-16 Genesis has gone up and people realize how good they car. Downside, the speakers need more bass. Its enough for me but it could be better.

I want to like it, but...
If you've done much research on this car, then you know that some people are impressed, and others are disappointed. After owning this car for the past year, my experience has been mostly disappointing. I'd like to start off with the handling and ride. it is very lack luster and leaves much to be desired. The Genesis is harsh over bumps while at the same time is very boat-like around corners, worst of both worlds. It feels almost like the engineers didn't spend any time to tune the suspension for the weight and size of the vehicle. Next, reliability. My Genesis has 88,000 miles, so it is no spring chicken, but not super high milage either. In the past year, the drive shaft has developed a loud shudder noise and vibration, the rear differential developed a leak, requiring complete replacement, there is a wind whistling noise from both front windows from bad window seals, both front seats move/shift ever so slightly around corners (almost like they are loose/not completely bolted to the floor), and the oil pressure light likes to come on at random times, a sensor issue. I understand the oil pressure light, wind noise, and seats are minor issues that might be expected in a vehicle with nearly 90,000 miles, but major drive train components like the drive shaft and rear differential should last the lifetime of the car. The driveshaft shudder is a known issue for this car. It's simply unacceptable for a flagship sedan. Based on the mixed reviews out there, there seems to be a quality control issue. Prior to the Genesis, I drove a 2001 BMW E39 with the iconic in-line 6 cylinder for 7 years with twice as many miles as the Genesis. The BMW was leagues ahead of the Genesis in terms of handling, ride quality, and believe it or not, in my case, reliability. There are no doubt some pros to the Genesis that deserve praise. It is a beautiful looking car, and the interior materials have held up extremely well, almost Lexus like. It is also understated and does not call attention to itself, it is effortlessly classy. However, do not buy this car to rebel against the name brand competitors. In my experience, the competitors such as BMW (the older models) and Lexus make a higher quality vehicle that will keep any car guy/gal happy for years to come. The Genesis fails to deliver on that front.

Hyundai Genesis in the shop the past 3 years!
I bought this car used with 19,000 miles on it. The AC high side hose went out at around 70 or 80 k miles. Then the oil senser had to be replaced which requires you to remove the entire air intake manifold. After that my ac compressor went as well as the evaporator block. I have the hyundai warranty luckily but the dealerships here in vegas were a nightmare. My starter was failing for one whole year! I do not recommend this car to anyone. Nothing but problems. They just did a starter recall and now the car is experiencing hesitation starting. The communication between the warranty and the dealerships is trash. Hyundai had my car four separate times for 3 weeks! No loaner car and on one of them I was out of pocket $800. If you want problems buy a hyundai.
