Used 2003 Hyundai Elantra Consumer Reviews
Reliable and Affordable
I bought this car new in 2003. It is the base model GLS. It is not fancy, it's only a 4.0 cylinder, but it is very reliable. It now has 105,000 miles and has not needed any major repairs and still running great! I'm looking to get a new vehicle and after the experience with this one, I'm thinking it will be another Hyundai. My husband bought a 2001 Ford Taurus in 2003, when I got my Hyundai and has had all types of problems with it.
2003 elentra
Car was purchased new. It can handle quite a lot: I had several huge people in my elentra when I struck the mother of all potholes traveling at a high rate of speed on the God forsaken streets of Brooklyn NY, I really thought at the very least there should have been casualties but to my amazement the car was not affected in any way. Another time my father had a huge accident drunk driving accident, it cost so many thousands to piece the car together everyone suggested the car should be scrapped yet the insurance carrier insisted it be repaired. To my amazement the car still rides well after massive cross- your finger type of repairs.
I'm Jealous of my Wife...
I bought this car for my wife and now I borrow the car whenever I get a chance because it is so fun to drive! This car is a breath of fresh air compared to all the other "H" cars out on the road -- and what a deal. The other reviews have said this, but where else can you get Auto Trans, Leather Seats, Moonroof, AM/FM-CD, a peppy little engine and a genuinely COOL exterior styling for $14,300 (bought it through CarsDirect.com). PLUS the 60,000 warranty! These guys are picking up where Honda and Toyota left off, and they can't rest on their laurels -- get one before the world figures it out and the price goes up.
Worth the wait
My wife and I have wanted an Elantra for four years, we finally bought a new 2003. It has a silky smooth 5 speed manual with 16 valve DOHC 2.0 engine, excellent comfort and ride. It replaces 1994 Hyundai Excel with 191,000 miles as the main car. I will be buying a replacement engine for the 1994. We love those Hyundai's, reliable, dependable and inexpensive to keep.
Can't beat the value!
I bought this car without a trade in and got out the door (including taxes, tags, ect...) for 13988.98. It is the 5-speed with a moonroof, and I love it. Corolla was 2k more and had less options, same with the civic. You just can't beat the value. Not to even mention the industry leading warranty.
