A really great truck!
I researched this truck a LOT before making the purchase and while I really wanted Android Auto, I think the RTL trim is a perfect choice. Sure the Honda Sensing and all would be nice to have, but for someone used to driving older vehicles that don't have those bells and whistles, the RTL has all I really need. I did debate the AWD and FWD a lot, but in Texas where I may only have a few days a year where the AWD is really beneficial, I opted for FWD. I found a really low mileage (7800) 2017 version and it was in great shape. So the added savings of a used vehicle were too good to pass up. Power - I have only owned it 4 weeks, but I have been plenty happy with its power for normal driving. I have not towed anything and probably wont very often. There is more than enough power to get on and off the interstate. Handling - It is a Honda. If you have driven any other Honda's you know what you are getting. It has plenty of feel and maneuvering around town is a breeze since it doesn't have the full size pickup bulk. Features - Heated seats, comfortable front seats, deep console, added in door drink holders, and the trunk are all super handy. I wondered if I would actually use the trunk, but have several times already while shopping. It is nice to have stuff locked up and out of sight. Speaker quality is just ok. And the radio/infotainment system is the basic one, so don't expect anything fancy, but you get the back up camera and radio, along with bluetooth so all your phone features are easily used. I do wish the rear power window was available on this trim. I love having the tire pressure monitor showing exactly what PSI each tire is at. Comfort - Front passengers have plenty of comfort. I have had a few passengers in the back 5'5" - 5'8" and they were both comfortable for the 45 min drive we were on. May not be great for larger passengers on multi hour rides, but their is plenty of room for 3 kids across the back seat. Only knock so far is that gas mileage is not great. In city driving the on screen calculation has been at 16 mpg and actual calculations are only slightly higher. Highway has been better at about 20 - 21 mpg. I didnt purchase this to be a Honda Accord or Civic for gas mileage though so I expected similar based on research. Bottom line - If you are looking for a vehicle that offers the conveniences of a truck without the size and all, this is a great option. I am not an off road person and don't often haul stuff, but wanted a truck to be able to take advantage of the times I do need to throw something in the back and get on down the road. Read the reviews of the online groups and you will see that all of them are the same, and they are all really accurate. This isnt your heavy duty farm truck, but rather a great city pickup capable of doing what you really need, which is to get people and stuff from point A to point B. I have been extremely happy with this purchase and would highly recommend this model to anyone looking for a great ride and the conveniences of a truck.

My 4th Ridgeline Now for my 5th Ridgeline RTLE
Traded my 2017 Ridgeline for the 2020 RTLE brand new.. now with 37000 miles... I must say again I just enjoy these Ridgelines, every thing is smooth about them. More roomy then the Tacoma and smoother ride. no complaints at all with the drive train. Update: Just got the New 2023 Ridgeline Last March 2023.. one year in ....no issues... This makes this my 6th Ridgeline

Great truck.
As always, I did all my research before buying this truck. Really everything I read was true. If you're Mr. Macho truck guy then this is not for you. For all I need to haul this is perfect. It rides smooth, is quiet, and handles likes a car (or nice SUV). Combined MPG I'm getting about 21. I searched online and found this used 2017 with only 10,000 miles. I've had it now for almost a year with zero problems. Yes I would recommend buying this small truck. OK, I've had the truck for a year and a half now. Still great. No problems. I have had the truck for 2 years now. No problems. Only thing I would note is that you seem to get wind noise around the windshield when going 70+ mph or when there are crosswinds.

Last Honda I will buy - Stay Away
I have owned Honda's for 25+ years and recommended them to my family. I like this truck but will not buy another Honda because they no longer stand behind the product. At around 65k the rear right blind spot sensor stopped working, a part of the safety system which should be covered for the life of the vehicle, diagnostic determined there was a break in communications. Vehicle is garaged, driven only highway miles and maintained per regular schedule. Both myself and dealer contacted Honda America and they said too bad the vehicle is out of warranty and declined to help. Now at 110k after investing in a new timing belt and water pump the alarm has started to go off randomly when the vehicle is locked or if it is left unlocked the headlights will come on if they are on auto. Turns out this is a known issue with the keyless/tpms system because they didn't properly seal the control unit that costs $1000 to fix and again Honda says TFB. Was a time when Honda stood behind their products, not anymore.

HONDA CORP SUCKS
I have a 2017 Ridgeline and last year my alarm system started going off by itself. Went on blogs where people mentioned get the hood fixed ( recall). So, I got the hood fixed…same problem except now it killed my horn and the battery. Went to dealership… never heard of this and you have to take the car to the dealership where you bought it. Never heard of that either. Now they want $375 for a diagnostic BS. Still have no idea. Went on more blogs and found hundreds of drivers with Honda and Acuras are all have the same problem. Also, found a service bulletin from Honda regarding the problem from 2022. So, I call corporate and get some kid Rich who is now my case mgr. who is just reciting from a script and couldn’t answer any questions except take it to a dealer and have it diagnosed. And, I asked about the fuel pump recall that’s on back order for 6 months and he said they will check to see if you need it changed. Really, then why do a recall. Considering the recall states it can cause a fire with water getting in from the bed part. So I mention my car is hesitating and not getting pickup ( forgot to mention I only have 58,000 miles on my car and is well taken care of). Reply take it to the dealer. Pretty much not my problem. Unfortunately, all these companies started doing what the American car companies would do years ago. Pump out the cars take your money and do recalls. They all suck today.

Best Riding Truck Ever
Have owned numerous pickups over the years. Most recently an 03 Tacoma for 14 years until totaled. New Tacomas are nice but the ride leaves a lot to be desired. After researching and test driving the Ridgeline I was sold. Bought it for $2874 under listwith only a CD player added. I would recommend buying the rubber mats on Amazon. Genuine Honda $68 less than dealer. 5 days after picking it up left on a trip from Ct to Sc. Total of 2200 miles driven, what a pleasure. My wife couldn't believe the ride quality. Averaged 24.6 combined for the trip. I know of the complaints about the premium info center but my model is older with knobs. Does everything I want. I never took the Tacoma off road nor towed with it. The Ridgeline is a perfect fit for what I need a pickup for. Weekly runs to the recycling center with occasional trips to HD or the garden center. This is the type of vehicle most pickup truck owners actually need. Updating review on 9/4/17. Still give truck 5 stars across the board. The more I drive the Ridgeline the more I enjoy it. Have added a hard tonneau cover since first review. This keeps the bed dry and the tailgate secure. Using the truck for trips is great. In the summer heat with the A/C on I have turned the econo mode off for better acceleration and betterA/C performance. I don't know whether it's because of the engine breaking in or the bed cover but latest trip over same previous route to SC increased mileage to 26.7. Again this truck is perfect for my needs. Have owned the Ridgeline for a year now. No problems what so ever. Continue to use the truck for trips and now have over 15,000 miles on it. Would change nothing. Still averaging over 26 mph on the highway and just over 19 in the city. Saw previous complaints about the heat. No problems in that area and I live in CT and had a very cold year. Usually set the heater on auto and it maintains a constant comfortable temp. Did add splash guards and this seems to minimize mud being thrown onto the rear quarter panel. I continue to enjoy the driving experience. Truck continues to perform. Have taken numerous long trips and gas mileage remains constant. Have not experienced any problems with the truck and now have over 28,000 miles on it. I would still strongly recommend the Ridgeline for anyone that it more interested in ride and on road performance than someone who wants a certain look and may go off roading. I have yet to take the truck off of a paved road. Latest update. Ridgeline now has over 34,000 miles on it. Continues to preform flawlessly. Most of the miles are highway, between Ct. and points south on the east coast. As previously stated the mileage and ride comfort are the two strongest points of ownership that impress me. Latest trip I averaged 28.4 mpg highway and at times without the a.c. On attained over 30. Truly impressive. Have just purchased a 2019 Accord but my wife and I believe the Ridgeline is superior on long trips. Zero problems as far as maintenance is concerned. I plan I having this vehicle for a long time. Four years and six months later the Ridgeline continues to impress. Zero problems. Ride is still above any other truck I have driven and better than so cars. 44,000 plus miles and the mileage has actually gotten slightly better. Still a great road trip vehicle. Currently have 60,000 miles on the Ridgeline without one issue besides normal maintaince. This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Eight years of ownership without an issue. Now have 62,000 miles on the truck, still love it. Have no need to update.

Still going strong
My '17 Ridgeline (bought in July of 2016) is nearly 7 years old and still going strong. Haven't had a single mechanical issue/repair. A few minor recall items and general maintenance is all it's needed. Ride is great. Also getting 18-22 mpg in town and 25+ on highway. I highly recommend this truck to anyone looking for a small-mid size pick up.

Love the Ridgeline--Dumber than a box of rocks
I just got my new Ridgeline and I love it. I had to wait a long while to get an RTLE-E because having a opening back window was a "deal breaker" for me. Two things Honda engineers really missed. 1) All models should come with an opening back window (it doesn't need to be power). 2) The tonneau cover is really superior---but Honda does not have a locking tailgate. Why is totally beyond me!

Great little truck!
I was in the market for a mid-size truck to hand down to my teenage son in a few years. I looked at the Tacoma...looks cool...drives like a tank. Then there was the Colorado/Canyon...nice trucks...don't really care for the looks and the interior is cramped and cheap looking. I didn't even consider the Frontier. Then I test drove a Ridgeline and that was it! Comfortable, quiet, smooth riding and handles great! The more I drive it, the more I like it. I only have a few complaints...as many have stated before, the rear doors do not open wide enough and you do feel a little engine breaking under deceleration. It's faint but I do notice it. The only quality issue I've experienced so far is one of the sun visor clips is loose. I brought it in to the dealer and it was fixed in minutes. I've added Husky mats front and rear and the cargo net for the bed. My son may have to wait a while for this one. ***update*** After three (3) years of ownership I still love the truck. My biggest complaint is still the fact that the rear doors don’t open wide enough. Other than that, it’s been a fantastic little truck. I purchased a camper 6 months ago, a Winnebago Micro Minnie 2100BH (3700lbs dry) and it tows it fine.

5 year update
well over 5 years and still going strong. I have 76,345 miles on my Ridgeline now and nary a problem. It is like driving the energizer bunny it just keeps going and going. Normal maintenance from my Honda dealer. The driving aspect is still top notch from milage to ride comfort. My. neighbor has been driven me the last 3 months for my cancer treatments and has nothing but praise for the truck. From the layout of the interior to the actual mechanics of the truck very impressed . He said Honda really got it right with this vehicle. My wife still likes it too.

Well, I love the damn thing...
The only downside thus far is the infotainment system. As others have noted, it is so ancient. I had a 10 year old Prius which was better and a 2013 VW which was legions ahead of this clunky mess. Really, Honda, who the hell is working for you and worse, signing off on this mess of a system? Otherwise, a great car. Oh, one further nitpick, the outboard mirroruare so bloody old school. Really, idiots.

Forget off-road driving .This is not the truck you would buy for that .However comfort reliability and use of the bed for moving equipment I rate it tops in class.I do have a beef with brake pedal in cold weather.40 degrees or lower pedal will be rock hard and start up’s because pedal won’t depress can be tricky.Remote start solves this but this problem needs to be addressed.

2011 vs 2017
I had a 2011 Honda RTL Ridgeline and it was the best vehicle/truck I have ever owned. It had everything I wanted and more. The ride on trips was 10/10. Performance 10/10. Interior 10/10. Everything about this truck was 10/10. The only drawback was the gas mileage, 7/10. We researched for several months for a 2017 Ridgeline and decided to make the move and trade our 2011 for 2017. Now, after just a few months of owning 2017, we found that on a trip, our sciatica was acting up (4/10) to the point that we could not wait to call it a day and get to a hotel. The new Ridgeling is very cheaply made inside and out. The passenger door opening was at least 30% less which caused problems placing food orders in and our pet getting in. The Honda web page information showed the passenger door opening was a normal opening. (You can check it out by attempting to place a large pizza box inside.) You have to tilt it to get it into the back seat, (3/10). There's more I could say about the new Ridgeline, but, it would be overwhelming information. Overall, the new style of Ridgeling is not worth the time to even look at let alone buying one 2/10. In 2020 we finally traded our 2017 Ridgeline in for a GMC. As a side note, I filed a complaint with Honda explaining everything, especially the rear doors, and never received a response. The dealership could only state that the web page was made so that it was easy to look inside and nothing else. REALLY. Save your money, look for another vehicle.

Read this before you buy
I drove the Ridgeline RTL-T and found the interior cramped especially around the driving pedals -- the parking brake pedal interferes with foot and leg movement. Try stretching your leg all the way out...tall guys can't do it. The tailgate does not have a lock--good for thieves to steal -- yes this does happen. Ground Clearance is awful -- 7 and a half inches. After the drive we pulled into a parking slot at the dealer and the front end scraped on the cement parking barrier. So much for any off road fun. Spare tire is a donut and not really good for any off road areas. Option packages do not include an XM radio until you are in the RTL-T price range of $35,860. This is ludicrous, as the "lower" priced models of $30,000 to $34,000 don't have a decent entertainment system. Any vehicle that is priced over $30K should at least have an XM radio. Also who really needs speakers in the truck bed?? Towing capacity is very weak...how am I supposed to tow my three Honda motorcycles to the motocross XC events? Bottom Line: This "truck" is not a working truck. It is for people who like the image of driving a truck, but don't need the utility of hauling or going to off road areas. I would call this a Sport Utility Truck, as it is just another Pilot but without the covered luggage area. Honda had the opportunity to build a Tacoma crushing vehicle, but has instead built a truck that people can't decide whether it is a Sport Utility Vehicle or just a weak truck. On the positive side...my wife likes it.

Bed leaks, trunk leaks, tailgate doesn't lock, etc
Terrible design... if you ever plan on getting a cover or shell for the bed because you want to keep something dry... forget it. Your bed will always leak, your tools will rust and your stuff will get wet. If you try and do a self-fix, Honda will negate your warranty on the car. There are numerous complaints about the trunk leaking... don't ever put something in the trunk that you don't mind getting wet or mildewed. Tailgate doesn't lock if you did put a cover or shell on. When you drive above 60 mph, it sounds like a wind tunnel... per the dealership "that's just the way the Ridgeline was designed". The entertainment, navigation and bluetooth are substandard to other brands. It's nice to have a flat floor when you put up the rear seats, but Honda decided to add a bar down the middle to clip the seats in... so having a flat floor is useless... you have a big bump down the middle (Ford has a great flat floor... very useful). Side mirror on the passenger side makes objects look VERY much closer than they really are... you see many complaints about this... it's a safety problem If you want upgraded features (nav, etc), Honda forces you get leather seats... if you don't want leather, you're screwed with their lower models. The mpg is not what is advertised... I could go on and on... A Honda Ridgeline is the biggest waste of money... it's an insult to a real "truck".

Rush to Market
The interior on the prior models of the Ridgeline are much better. I own an older model Ridgeline and have been waiting since 2015 for the newer version. Initially told it was coming in Jan of 2017. It came out sooner but the interior is a big disappointment. It looks as if they put in a Honda Odessy front panel so they could get it to market. I won't buy this current version. Someone told me Ford is coming out with a truck with a trunk and tailgate like Honda's. I will have to check it out. Maybe their interior is better.

this is my second Honda Ridgeline, the first one was a 2006,i sold it with 350.000 miles running perfectly; now I bought a 2017 used with 60.000 miles, very happy with it.
Best truck I've ever driven
This is by far the best truck I've ever driven. All the features and safety ratings are top notch. You couldn't drive a better truck. The tailgate alone with the extra truck space is amazing. The sound system and navigation is top notch.

Honda’s answer to the El Camino
I’ve bought this vehicle as it was being driven off the delivery truck. I’ve been very pleased with this truck. A couple issues occurred at 35000 miles. All six fuel injectors fail as well as the catalyst converter. Repairs were covered by warranty. The truck now has 186000 miles. No problems. I change the engine oil & filter every 5000 miles, the air filter every 10,000 miles and the trans oil & filter, transfer case and rear end every 30,000 miles as well as other scheduled maintenance. I drive this truck back and forth between California and Arizona on a regular basis. So far so good.

This is a small pickup by today’s standards. For me, it is a very good size, a 4-door model with a small open bed. Just right for the light hauling I do. The Black Edition comes with all the bells and whistles that Honda offers. It is a joy to drive and performs well in traffic as well as on the highway. Glad I bought it although an expensive purchase.

Just the Right Truck
I was looking for the right truck. I was frankly partial to the F150. When I really checked it out, it was too big. The Honda Ridgeline is perfect for me. It is a truck that drives like the Accord. It holds the road and is comfortable- no big vehicle sway. It has plenty of power and very driveable. The bed is rugged and comes lined. Also, there is a hatch in the bed that opens to a trunk that is lighted. There are stadium style rear seats with plenty of room. It has a Garmin GPS which is far more accurate than those that come with cars. For me, the only downside is that it doesn't have memory for the driver's seat position. The other downside is the tailgate doesn't lock.

A Total Disappointment!
There is almost nothing I like about this vehicle. In fact, it is a very poor match for my comfort and driving style. and I can't wait to get rid of it after only 2 years and 5,000 miles. The Ridgeline has 52,000 miles, it has died twice in my driveway for very stupid reasons (ie left windows open overnight and the remote key had a dead battery), stranded me in the outback of Oregon on it's virgin road trip with a remote keyless entry computer module that was dying 85K miles before it should have, alot of road noise at freeway speeds ( I keep checking to see if a window is open), a forward speed of 5 mph without applying the gas, the gas and brake pedals are way up high and my foot slides off the gas and under the brake pedal because even with the 24 seat adjustments I'm unable to reach the pedal unless in the knee-to-chest position, the digital display causes eyestrain and requires taking eyes off the road because it is too far from driver's seat, all "features" have flat/black/sleek buttons that can't be read or felt in the dark or even during the day because the icons are miniscule, the "premium" stereo can't tune in to basic radio stations without intermittent signal loss and static, even in populated areas, wiith bad quality audio. The tailgate does not lock unless you buy an aftermarket part which is NOT currently available and costs $200.+ I can't get my skis into the inbed trunk. I have gone through 2 recalls, the hood latch that could likely come loose in windy driving and hit the windshield, and the wire harness that hooks up the back-up camera can get caught and destroyed in tailgate hinge.....which in fact I figured out before the recall was announced. Only once did the back up camera actually work. I actually have 2 dings in the exact same place when I backed into my garbage can. This truck has alot of blind spots despite the warning system. I actually feel that driving this truck is dangerous for me. The Owner's manual is so dumbed down, and contents hard to find due to wierd naming of typical parts, it is pretty useless and tiring to try and find answers. So, I am back to driving my 2000 Toyota Tacoma SR5, Thank goodness I still have it! It starts EVERY time, Is so comfortable compared with the Honda, which causes me back pain. I can play my CDs and the radio when tuned is a pleasure to listen to. bye bye Honda. I did like my '84 Accord but it was a lemon, the'92 Accord was better. But, my previous good opinion of Honda has changed, most likely permanent. I asked a dealer if they wanted to buy the Ridgeline, but they already have one dead in their lot and no parts to fix the back up camera. Luckily, another shop had the parts and I'm scheduled for repair next week. Hope it will sell SOON! and I will be done with this nightmare.

THE TRUCK WITH LOTS OF PLUSES

Acceleration problems
First couple of years were good, but sine then there is a delay in acceleration and a vibration when accelerating between 15 and 55 unless I press hard in the gas. Noticed RPS bounce around 2 to 3 thousand. Occasional blue tooth connectivity issues like the rear camera not working, phone not being linked. AC system is week on low settings and had to have the blower replaced and electronics because in hot weather the vents would not open in the front seats only the rear. Otherwise a great vehicle, good gas mileage, confortable seats and has great utility!

Fabulous
Reliable, comfortably, gas savings
functional, likeable, and easy hacks.
Overall, I'm very fond of this vehicle. Pros are comfortable without power seats and functional for a pickup with large under bed waterproof storage trunk leaving the bed clear for hauling, drives very nice and feels like driving a sturdy SUV. Fixable upgraded #1, i added heated mirrors by swapping the non-heated mirrors with heater elements mirrors, and purchased an aftermarket rear-defogger system which now controls the heated mirrors that i swapped out., Fixable upgrade #2, i swapped out the rear door checks with the HONDA Pilot front door checks, Note: the stock rear doors do not fully open limiting access to the rear seat which folds up for cargo space, so I purchased dealer part for this and now works perfectly! very functional pickup bed with tiedown hooks and spare tire in storage compartment under bed and without wheel humps so sheets of plywood lay flat. Cons with the looks as the rim offset needed to be more like the pilot and closer to the outer edge of the car (i change the rims and stands (looks) much better). It would also be nice if the front end was 3/4" higher giving the truck a better stance rather than looking like a nosedive SUV in the front, and the car tires were not appealing, so i replaced the tires with same size but a little more aggressive tread. The full con is the low towing capacity max at 5k lbs but it's helpful that you can turn off the overdrive when trailer is hooked up, Note, it works well with a bike rack.

Catchy Title!?Built-In Cooler.
Nothing better than the Honda Ridgeline with a built in trunk under the bed that has a drain plug and a lock that has a key. Love The vehicle; Has everything you need and then some. Like using the Trunk for a cooler, and can keep stuff in there without worrying because you can’t see it. But like everyone else that’s reviewed the 2017 Ridgeline is the Touch Screen is clunky to use and No volume knobs. Otherwise I’m Happy. Has enough room for Five adults without complaints. Everyone that has sat in the back likes the rear A/C with their own control and usb charging ports. Black is Nice but as you know it is like a mirror so you have wash a lot. Recommend a hydro-phobic product on the vehicles surface, Helps keeping it clean. Too bad That Honda has discontinued making these. I might just have to try to see if I can trade it in for the New One. 2022. Hard to find and need to have a lot of money. Not cheap or should I say Inexpensive by any means. If you want one you will have to pay for it. At least They hold their Value. Unless Honda starts building them again. 🙃

In bed trunk hite tonneau rails
I have a 2017 RTL and I love it but it`s not perfect. I .have a BAK-FLIP F1 tonneau. My in bed trunk can only open partially because it hits the rails of the tonneau. I love the tonneau but knowing this now I would do my homework and find a top that would give my trunk full clearance. i fixed the rear door opening problem by buying front door closures and replacing the rear ones. I also bought an after market rear view mirror with a digital compass on it. Can`t believe compass didn`t come standard.
Comfortable trucking
Fairly luxurious ride. I would term it a"gentleman's truck". Great storage and utility, the large locking trunk is a game changer. You see so many trucks with tool boxes taking up 1/3 of their bed space and they have to climb in the bed to access it. The Ridgeline tool box is easily accessible thanks to the side opening tailgate. The available tonneau cover easily folds back for open bed cargo and keeps things dry and protected when folded down. I drove a Prius for 4 years previous to this and suffered from a sore tailbone from the seat, since driving the Ridgeline my pain is gone thank you very much. I do miss the 50 mpg and am getting an average after ~1000mi 21.4 mpg. They are having trouble keeping them in stock in my area, Austin TX, but the black painted models are still available. It is a joy to drive if you need a truck.
