Graduated from a Kia to my family standad Honda
third row seat will rarely be used by me and my family. I would have rather had more storage space where the seat is now. Also there are no sensors in the rear bumper alerting me to approaching surroundings. although there is a nice camera

Best Pilot Yet
This is the third Honda Pilot that I have owned and it is definitely the best. It is very smooth riding and handling. The interior and exterior finish is superb especially the liberal use of leather on the interior. The complaints that I read about prior to purchase regarding the navigation system are unfounded. I found the entertainment and navigation very easy to operate unless you object to frequent cleaning of the touch screen. Conclusion: Congratulations to Honda. This is the best Pilot that they have offered.

Not this Honda - Sorry
Owner of a 2014 (and past 2004) Pilots...lease is coming up next year on the '14 so asked my sales manager bud if I could keep a '16 for a number of days. Long relationship and I've bought 7 other Acura's/Honda's from him - it does pay to stay loyal! In short, I'm not going to get one. Appearance - looks like a CRV on steroids or any of the other mid-SUV's out there. I've also shun Acura until they get over their "the gaudier the better" styling philosophy. Yes, it does drive and feels more solid on the road vs. the '14; however road noise, ever the Achilles Heel of anything this corporation produces, is still omnipresent. My '02 GMC pickup is still quieter! The interior gets a 10 for overall styling and material improvements, a 7 for an over-busy dash/electronics (Consumer Reports just hammered Honda for their e-systems), a 1 for making the driver area "tighter" in both height and width, and a -6 for removing the high-center console and replacing with those el-cheapo arm rests from their parts bin. So, overall I'm disappointed with their efforts here - and I note here are not many glowing reviews on this and other boards. My dealership buddy says reception has been lukewarm with a number of people saying it's more like an "Odyssey with a longer snout". Hopefully Honda will hear some of these words and make further refinements. They finally did revise the Civic following an outpouring of criticism. Happy New Year!

Overall just a barely average vehicle
The Pilot looks great on paper and in pictures, but don't be fooled. The specs are good and it looks good in photos as most vehicles do however the reality is much different. While fuel economy and engine performance are good, those seem to be the only things that don't disappoint. But to get straight to the point, here are problems that I've noticed: 1. The infotainment is a really terrible system. It is underpowered, unrefined, unintuitive and cumbersome. It is really slow and unresponsive, probably because of outdated/cheap components used to power the system. Every tap lags, every single one. The interface is also very unintuitive, common features such as playlists, albums, genres are buried multiple menu layers deep. When you plug in your device, it defaults to playing your entire library of songs alphabetically. I get random error messages that cause the audio or navigation to close on a fairly regular basis of about once a week. An error message will just pop up and close the current app. 2. The navigation, probably in part to being underpowered, has been terrible so far. I've only used it a few times so far but each time is has incorrectly calibrated my location and it would take a few minutes of driving for it to properly recalibrate my location. I've driven and used many vehicles with navigation and this is honestly the first time it's ever happened, on each occasion. 3. The radio is complete junk. It sounds like listening to a 30 year old clock radio because the reception is so bad. Sound is constantly fading, crackling or has static. There has been speculation that this is something that has only impacted a few Pilots however I am convinced this is a design defect. The antennas on the Pilot are similar to the antennas on the iPhone 4 and consist of bands on the rear windows. What's worse is that despite this being an issue since the release of the 2016 Pilot, there has been no official response or acknowledgment from Honda yet. 4. Because the radio is so bad on the Pilot, most people such as myself will often listen to the music on my device. There is nothing wrong with the sound system itself, just the reception. However, since the infotainment system is so incredibly bad, even trying to listen to the music on my device is a major pain. 5. The footwell heat simply doesn't work well. It seems like a minor issue until you have consecutive single digit degree weather and realize only a very small portion of the area above your ankles are warm. The footwell area never completely warms, no matter how high you set the temperature or how high the fan is. Your lower legs will always be cold, or at least mine have. 6. For the trims below Touring with the 6 speed, the shifter is so poorly and terribly designed, it looks like it came out of a 1990 Corolla. Above all, my impression of the 2016 Pilot is that it was severely rushed and a lot of cost cutting was involved. There really is no excuse for the radio to have such horrible reception in this day and age. The infotainment system is clearly the result of cost cutting as its so terrible. The main benefit of the Pilot is the engine performance. I highly recommend anyone considering the Pilot to take it on an extended test drive and really pay close attention to the radio and tinker with the infotainment. Drive it back to back with any other vehicle and I'm certain most will recognize a clear difference in radio quality. However, if literally none of these things matter, than the Pilot may be a good choice, otherwise I would at least hold off until the 2017 models arrive before even considering one. Update: I’ve mostly grown accustomed to the faults of the pilot, but it does have its merits. Just about the two best things about the vehicle are the functionality and design of the interior space and the AWD system. Otherwise, the navigation continues to be a complete piece of trash that literally takes minutes to properly calibrate itself everytime you turn on the car. *update* 3/8/19 So my original review still stands, a lot of things that just feel half baked and poorly implemented. I have not had any issues with the reliability of the car and the AWD system is probably one of the better systems out there. Although I still take issue with the complete junk navigation system and the heating/cooling is also not very good. I’ve gotten used to the crappiness of the radio I guess and don’t expect Honda to do the right thing and provide some kind of fix for it. Overall, would I buy this vehicle again? Probably not.

Love my 2016 Pilot
Hated the look when I first saw the images released online. Saw the White one on the showroom floor and ordered an EX-L with Nav about 30 minutes later after a test drive. Traded in my 2012 Pilot EX-L with RES. Have had it a week and it is just better in every way. I had a 2011 Pilot that I traded in for a 2012 so we really liked that style of vehicle but this is just awesome. Love the Garmin brand NAV. The touch screen radio takes a bout 2 days to get used to but once you do you realize it is so much better and easier than the last consoles layout. The arm rests are great and the storage console between the front 2 seats is perfect compared to the last model. It looks very similar on the inside but just improved in every way. I hope the 2017 CR-V compares to these updates and the exterior gets tweaked so the lines are comparable to the Pilot. If so I will be trading in my 2012 Accord SE for the CR-V touring. Fingers crossed. I can't believe we hated the first images as much as we did and now this is our Favorite we have ever purchased!!!
