Road noise a bit higher than I hoped for. Everything else excellent so far. I only have 1,200 miles on this vehicle since I purchased it a few weeks ago.

Since my last odyssey a 2007 EXL a lot of changes were made. The ride is great, noise level is better, safety features are nice but take a little getting use to. One thing I wish Honda would look into is folding outside mirrors. Home owners with limited garage space this feature would be nice to have. I could go on about the car but I think Honda has a home run with this vehicle!!!

HONDA VCM SUCKS !

Honda's Variable Cylinder Management is total CRAP, had no idea Honda Odyssey engine had VCM. Would not have bought if had known there were law suits. The engine suffers plus the associated issues related to VCM are completely unacceptable. Honda you should be ASHAMED.

We bought our Odyssey new in late 2015 and have since put over 50k miles on it. It continues to serve daily family activity (4 young kids) extremely well. We’ve found it reliable, versatile, and comfortable for around town errands, etc. As an active family I think we have a unique perspective of “getting the most” out of the cars capabilities. We added an OEM roof rack (self-installed, very easy and well made) and a dealer installed trailer tow package. We load it up with bikes on a hitch-mount rack regularly, and the kids have done their best to abuse the interior with food, dirt, and general abuse but the seats and other materials have held up remarkably. Most recently we took a 4,000 mile road trip across 10 states, spanning 2 weeks. Through steep mountain climbs the car remained stable and confident, keeping up with spirited mountain traffic going 80+ mph, fully loaded with gear for a family of six and a roof-top cargo box. It’s been a solid member of our family and I look forward to many years and miles ahead with this capable family hauler!

Monster Mini-Van

Cindy, 08/26/2018
2016 Honda Odyssey EX-L 4dr Minivan w/Navigation (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

I immediately fell in love with this mini-van because it made me feel like I ruled the road. I continue to feel that way and would probably by another if I still had a big family at home. The fuel economy, while not the best, was decent enough on long trips. The built-in navigation was too challenging to use so I just used Yahoo Maps on my phone. It could use another UPS plug-in versus the car charger plugs. The parking aids, rearview and passenger mirror cameras, ROCKED MY WORLD. They are life-changing when it comes to feeling safe and being able to park in the city. The opening of doors with the press of a button made life utterly simple when shopping and I can't say enough about the leather interior. This vehicle is a gem and I highly recommend it.

The Navigation system while reliable and accurate is complicated and slow. The Ride and handling is excellent. The engine is very reliable, smooth and powerful. One must be careful on wet pavement not accelerate to fast as the engine has excellent torque, but on wet roads accelerating to fast creates tire spin on wet pavement. Overall the ride performance, looks and handling are all excellent making the Honda Odyssey an excellent value to own.

Middle seats are supposed to come out for cargo hauling. I find it impossible to get them in or out without dealer assistance even with the user manual. Why make the seat design too difficult for users to operate? On that subject, the entertainment center is way too complex for the driver to navigate while driving. Surprised that Honda would do this. These items put a big damper on an otherwise nice vehicle.

My car trunk will not open during the winter! Unfortunately I live in a state where it is winter Dec.-March. If it is lower than 40 degrees the back hatch sensor does not work and I can't use my trunk. This model does not have an inside release button like other years have. The dealer and corporate have NO fix for it. If I want to open my trunk I have to put a hand warmer over it for a few minutes which means my groceries are usually put in the back seat now.

Seats 1 to 8.

_Not so Good: (1) Rubber around the windows started to deteriorate and had to be replaced at my expense. (2) The headlights have clouded over. (3) Road noise is loud at speed. (2) The front pillars on each side of the windshield are thick and can hinder vision. _The Good: (1) Seats up to 8, we do 5 adults and 3 teens, with no comfort issues, and all the luggage fits too. (2) Actual Mileage 22 mpg to 28 mpg, depends on city driving or long trips on the Interstate. (3) I like how the vehicle handles while driving. (4) Fold down the rear row of seats, remove the center row of seats and you have decent cargo space.

Did I get a lemon?

Walked out one day and the running board on the drivers sides was hanging down. Didn't get hit or hit anything. Did drive over a dirt road with washboards. I was able to clip it back on but don't trust that it will stay on. Then washing my car I noticed some of the clips on my font bumper were overlapping and visible (they should not be visible). Again I didn't hit anything. Perhaps some one backed into me but couldn't find any marks on the bumper. Then notced the back bumper on one side looked to be pulling away. The only thing I think that could have caused it is driving on a dirt road. Seems like it should be built to withstand that. Second issue is poor sound system. I have the SE model with the rear entertainment system. Well kids keep complaining that they cant hear the movie when I put the sound through the car speakers. Guess what there aren't any speakers in the back. What was Honda thinking on this one. This is my second Honda odyssey, loved the first, drove it for 200K miles over 10 years. Bought a new 2016 and seriously regret it.

Edmunds Reviews are Rigged this car stinks for the price just buy the base model. If its raining outside it will slip, if there is any ICe don't leave home, if there is any snow its dangerous, it senses every bump in the road, electronics are retarded and slow I cannot wait to return my Lease. I agree with the precious reviewer, the car is bouncy and you can feel every bump in the road, I did the same thing, I reduced the tire pressures but no use. I made the mistake of not test driving the others, do not believe the reviews they are biased I think, the Sienna drives much nicer, the Sedona has all the technology that the Odyssey does but at a lower price. The Odyssey has a better reputation but that's about it. What Honda needs to do is upgrade the Odyssey to an Acura Minivan, with Acura comfort and styling, it would really go along way. The difference in price between the EX-L and Touring Elite is not really worth it. No LED RDL is stupid. No LED headlight choice is also stupid. The LDW is very sensitive. Drives like a regular car so that's great. Honda Vac? who cares. Wide screen, a gimick. No panoramic roof offering. Dealers are stupid to deal with they are useless, just sell your damn cars direct better than a person spending hours dealing with tall white sales people. Bottom line, it's a Minivan, a good hauler for kids but as soon as Lexus, Mercedes, and BMW figures out a way, the high end Sienna and Odyssey will be dead, I wish Tesla comes up with something so I can just buy direct.

My Odyssey was a great vehicle, with the exception of the MMI. the delay when entering addresses into the Nav felt like I was back in the days when AOL was new, and the entire interface is over-engineered and difficult to use. For example, there are two screens on the dashboard - why? In terms of comfort, safety, reliability, interior and cargo space - its great.

Traded in our 2012 EXL for a 2016. I am in love!!! I love the subtle changes Honda made, I won't miss my old odyssey at all because they are a lot like. They added the touch screen stereo I really liked this feature a lot. I like that the EXL is now equipped with camera with your blind spot on the right. The truffle leather interior is beautiful we got a pearl white exterior so very pretty. Rims are stylish. Very happy with our purchase.

Been a Honda/Acura owner many times over. Acura RDX, 2 Accords, Civics, Pilot..so, I know my Hondas. And usually I'm very, very happy with my purchase. So, after having second baby I decide a mini van would be a helpful choice as I am petite and loading a car seat would be much easier. At the time I had a fully loaded 2015 Nissan Platinum & had to be on my tip toes to put the car seat in. I looked at Toyota & Honda to compare and went with the Honda. Of course. I do like the overall appearance of the OD but was a little worried about not having AWD for CT winters. Anyways, I've had it for 9 months now and feel I can write this review fairly. After leasing, which I'm glad I did. I was actually excited to get it home. So, here are my pros and cons. The pros-the space! It is truly amazing how much you can fit in the van..grocery store/whole sale club kids, dog, strollers..I will give it that! Gas mileage is on point!! Another plus!! And ease for a three year old to climb in and enjoys the big windows and auto doors! The 3rd row is very roomy and comfy for adults!! The cons, no AWD..come on Honda (that is why I was looking at Toyota) Awful entertainment/console with pairing with iPhone, extremely frustrating when driving to operate, from changing songs to phone calls, and I'm on my game with tech. Can't move seat to get to third row/so you have remove and store to get to 3rd...that commercial on tv is so right! Creaking tailgate, annoying tailgate alarm...that you can't shut off/the whole neighborhood hears you when you get home late at night! Acceraleration-when needing to move, it bucks. Definitely not a smooth transition. Height position of driver seat-when my husband drives feels like he's way too high and head is close to the ceiling. Minimal alert when low on gas, it beeps once (kids talking, music on-you won't hear it) and if you miss it...only your common sense will let you know how low you really are. Basically meaning if you look down and it's orange..god only knows how long it's been on. And then when you get gas and click(S) the cap like your suppose to sometimes an alert will stay on. The back up camera is awful on so many levels..one thing Nissan has is that 360 degree camera which should be standard on every car on the planet! Actually beeps when getting close to something. I actually have to open my honda door get out and look..eye roll. I actually could go on..but, I'm going to stop. I'm rating it a 3 stars because the overall day to day stuff gets under your skin & quick. And that overrides my decision. I've kinda been bummed for the past few months with our choice. So, if you need space this is it. But, if your thinking of getting a mini van loaded go with the touring. As the lesser trim levels are not so good, well for us. We have the EX-L & back in the day of the old trim levels EX-L didn't exist/but, now it's just an upgrade of leather. If you need roof racks you have to get the touring, if you want charging tools for your company in 3rd, you have to get the touring. Where I'm going with this...is..for the price you can get a loaded AWD/4x4 Platinum with wayyyy more stuff in it-then a kid wagon. Step up your game Honda-this mini is boring and that overhaul is taking wayyyy too long!! I think Nissan will be getting our business next time around. I do miss my platinum amazing snow handling 2 wheel, AWD and a 4x4, unbelievable access to the 3rd row with car seats in, heated seats in both rows, double moon roofs, storage, off the chart nav, iPhone, 360 cam, all accessible from steering wheel, alarms when carts, people and stuff behind you, gas mileage, the works! Come on baby, turn front facing so mama can get back to an SUV!

We are getting our second one replacing our 2011 the brakes SUCK we've gone through 3 sets of rotors up front and one axle in 70 thousand miles. However we load the carp out of it roof box four bikes and camping gear to the top inside .the brakes are off the 94 - 02 Acura tl so it's under braked they added better venting now so we'll see. Over all its a good buy. We have had our second ideas now for 3 years brakes have same issues as our 2011 . Honda refuses to adresss a transmission problem claims driver using it wrong!? The car has a shudder between 20-60 mph and on first start of the day reverse slips then chunks into gear. Our dealer has had car over 3 weeks during last 4 months and there answers are as follows it's normal/ driver error. They are using a cvt transmion witch is basicly a golf cart transmiton with a belt that rides on two cones. Think 10 speed bike to better get a mental picture. These are week at best and are not suited to reliably when being powered by higher horse power engines the ideas has 260 + horse power depending on the year . We are getting rid of this one and not going with honda ever again

The Edmunds "guarantee" price quote was not honored. It helped to get to a price but no where near their guaranteed price. New to this car but so far so good. Bought it due to the excellent experience with the 2007 Honda Odyssey we owned. Amazed at the upgrades. Loss of storage from the old model particularly under the front passenger seat and in the floor in front of the middle row seating. Ride is smooth and quiet

I've only owned the Odyssey for a couple of weeks, but i've enjoyed it immensely. I'm one of those guys who had to be persuaded to buy a minivan after the birth of our second child, but I'm glad we bought it. The car handles well, the interior space is fantastic, and the automatic doors are brilliant. I still think the van's exterior styling is a bit odd, but even that is growing on me.

We bought it new in 2016, Easy to drive, 23-28 mpg, fits 8 adults comfortably. When the 3rd row seats are folded down - nothing can be stored below them. About the 6th year, the rubber around the windows of both side-sliding doors cracked and failed and the headlights were noticeably clouded. I am happy with the van and plan to keep it for many more years.

Overall this van provides the extra room and comfort that we were looking for versus our 2012 Honda CR-V boy biggest gripe is that the second row seats do not go back far enough to keep the kids from kicking the front drivers and passengers seats. And if you move one of those forward the area feels cramped.

Love it! We have put over 20k miles on it already and it is still looks and acts like new. What a great car - with 8 children over many years, we are now empty nesters with our youngest being 35, so why would we buy a mini-van? We didn't just buy a mini-van, we bought an Odyssey - the best car/mini-van we could buy. It rides and handles like a sedan with the visibility and storage capacity of a van. When we visited one of our adult children, we put 7 of us, plus my wife's mobility scooter in the Odyssey and took trips around Michigan. Everyone was comfortable and the Odyssey handled Michigan's horrible roads with aplomb.

Purchased 2016 Honda Odyssey new. Used as daily driver and kid hauler. Made numerous long distance trips from our home in Houston to Disney World. Never a problem or issue to report. The reliably is unbelievable. 8 years and 150000 miles later, still going strong and as dependable as ever. I definitely will never part with this van. Incredibly efficient and great utility for hauling people and cargo. Excellent fuel economy. Rides and drives like a car. Well done Honda.

As of September 2016, Honda has no information on their 2017 models. 2016 model pricing is very high. I bought a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica miniVan because it has Stow & Go foldable second row seats.

I got this 2016 model in July 2017 as they were pushing 2017's out for 2018 models. The SE was the best deal for the price that had the features of the Honda Vac and DVD player without getting a higher cost trim. For those who are military veterans - ask to see if dealer will offer a military discounts.

'Then second row of seats behind the driver are hard and on back roads the ride is very rough. The driver front seats are ok The tail seats are hard to get into. I have no idea how they ride. The Odyssey needs 4 wheel drive. In the wind it blows around The second row of seats are very heavy and hard to put in and take out

Good ride, plenty of power, mileage is ok and once you drive it the memories of your last Odyssey put a familiar smile on your face. The brakes are OK but you can feel them working the steering wheel. Computer driven items are not user friendly. Car was made in October 2016 but bought in April 2017 and got the XLE on a super deal. Sticker was 41 plus and paid 32. Presently have 17K miles on it and waiting for a sale on tires to replace the Continentals that have a problem holding air. Honda had problems getting the 2018 model line running so they made 2016s and 2017s longer until the 2018 line was perfect. Edmunds was there to scoop up the deal that I got for the pretty well loded Ody. Only real complaint is the wobbly brakes.

SCHNOOKERED AGAIN!

This is my second Odessey. I bought a 2006 LX new. Within the first five years it ran great. Then my electric driver's side sliding door quit working properly and started sticking. It happened to be as a terrible thunderstorm began while we were in the Walmart parking lot. The sliding door wouldn't shut as the torrential downpour came. I had my six-year-old seated there while this tornadic dark-sky storm hit. I immediately got out and attemped to manually close it as the entire door derailed and completely fell off in my arms. I attempted to put it back on somehow while getting drenched from head to toe and fearing that a tornado was soon to hit. I managed to hook the door back on enough to block the rain but it was quite inadequate to safely drive it home with my children and wife in the car. I took it to a local repair shop and he was able to remount the door and had to remove the power cable completely making the door only able to operate manually which was very difficult. Several months later we had the same issue with the other door. We toughed it out for several years and decided to trade it in for a 2016 Odessey. It's been running wonderfully until now. Here we are, 2021, and experiencing the same issue with the driver-side sliding door. The dealer wants $1400 to repair it and it's out of warranty. SCHNOOKERED AGAIN!

My van has over 100,000 on it and we have had very few problems. We have changed the battery, tires, and spark plugs. We do give it regular service. I am not concerned to drive it anywhere. It's great in the rain because the hatch works like an umbrella. Two sliding doors made it great to hall the grandkids. We carry everything in this van such as large chairs, tables, wheelchairs, large food orders, the soccer team, and several large pieces of luggage. My only reason to sell this van would be to get a new Odyssey It's great for long trips because there is always room to bring home new treasures. I love my Odyssey This is my third one. Before this I drove a Dodge Caravan it was always in the garage and breaking down on the road.

Having been driving many types of vehicles over 64 years, I must say my Odyssey Ex-L has the most comfortable seats bar none! Whether as the driver or passenger, front or back, you sit in great comfort. The only criticism I can find is above average noise and vibration in the front seat. I love the spacious cargo area for my groceries and gardening supplies as well as the easy accessibility for sitting in the third row. Also, the visibility when driving and the easy getting in and out are both great. What can I say other than I have loved driving it these past three years.

I would've liked an EX with power sliding doors, but I've spoken to enough owners who have had problems with the power mechanism. I didn't like the idea of spending $5000+ extra for the EX, then spending $2500-$3000 to have the doors repaired. That said, we occasionally have issues with the manual sliding door stays NOT staying - i.e., the doors won't stay latched open. Need to speak with our dealer service advisor.

This is the third consecutive Odyssey EX-L that I have owned. It is far superior to other makes of minivans that I have owned in mechanical service, cargo space, dependability, power and comfort. I have driven it, and it's predecessor, back and forth from NY to Florida numerous times without problems or discomfort. Living at a distance from other family members often results in my having to transport large amounts of materials. The Odyssey serves us well.

The van is great and driving well, one minor recall, and mostley oil change and filters. (even after driving 52k miles, and 5 years of ownership). The sitting is good, unlike tje toyota mini vans that I had before switching to the odyssey, that break your back. I like the right turn camera, and the back seats air condition vents, and that the engine does not go off, when one stop at the light - some features make this van better than the odyssey 2023. My only complain is that the phone blue tooth is limited, and you need to use the phone to dial out, or stop to do that.
