Good value, just needs a little refinement

I leased a 2020 Honda CR-V EX 2WD in December 2020 and have no regrets as it gives you a lot of bang for the buck. Performance is fine in city/highway driving—fuel economy could be better in the city but does well on the highway if you don’t have a lead foot. Overall, I average 24-25 mpg with mixed driving. Cargo and passenger space is plenty and handling is excellent—driving this vehicle is very easy. The EX model has a lot of upgraded features (7” touchscreen, blindspot monitor, smart key, moonroof, 18” wheels, power driver seat, heated seats, privacy glass, etc.) which make this a no-brainer compared to the base LX model. With that said, there are a few downsides to the CR-V. The driver seat bottom cushion is a bit stiff but it’s fine for commutes that are less than an hour. If driving more than an hour you may get that “road butt“ feeling and need to pull over and stretch for a couple of minutes. On rough roads you will feel a bit of harshness/vibration in the cabin and at certain highway speeds you will hear some road/wind noise. Granted, this is not a higher end luxury vehicle with extra insulation/sound dampening material and in most situations the ride is smooth and outside noise is minimal so it’s tolerable. The touchscreen audio system works fine but is lacking a tuning knob so changing channels other than presets can be annoying. Also note that some of the A/C controls are only in the display audio screen but fortunately you can make most adjustments without having to go into the screen. My only other real complaint is that LED headlights are only available on the Touring gas model (and the CR-V hybrid models). In my opinion, LED headlights should be standard on ALL models in this class. As of late August 2021, I have just over 4,000 miles on my vehicle with no issues and I recommend this vehicle.

Extremely disappointing

We recently switched from a 13 Ford Explorer XLT and since we no longer required third row seats, we thought we would try a 20 CRV. EX-L and never have I been so disappointed in a vehicle. We went on a long road trip right after our purchase and I have never seen such a non-user friendly setup. At the second highest trim level, it is missing some key (basic) options like navigation and rear back up alarms. The backup camera is very grainy and like looking through a paper towel tube. It has a blind spot indicator for the passenger side on the screen but not for the driver side and no blind spot mirrors, blind spot warning indicators or mirror turn indicators (only on the Touring). We finally figured out CarPlay but it was a pain having to plug my phone in every time I entered the car just to use the maps. When we bought it, the seats reclined for easy exit, but could not get them to work since. The car locks automatically when you walk away but that quit on the second day as well. The backseat area was severely overlooked. No rear climate controls (could not get it cool without freezing the driver/passenger, no seatbelt height adjustment, and no reclining seats. I guess they only thought about driver comfort and not the rear passengers. The remote start worked intermittently but never when I really needed it to. It seemed every time I adjusted one setting, something else would stop working. Extremely gutless, and overly road noisy. Two weeks old and we are trading it in on a Bronco. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone in the SUV market.
