2015 Honda CR-V EX-L 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl CVT)

It’s the EXL. Push button start. 70k miles. Just had front brakes done (wife kills brakes). CVT fluid changed. Had to replace starter. Same as our 2014 Accord but lasted 3 years longer. On third battery. Second set of tires which is typical. Great for running around town. Back seat has a lot of leg room and lots of storage behind seats. So far do not regret purchase. Starter was apparently a defect in 2014/2015 models. The CRV is still doing great. Consistently 28 mpg in city 30+ on highway. No regrets whatsoever. Just crossed 91k mark. Brake pads replaced. CVT fluid replaced. Third set of tires.averaging 45k per set. Reliable vehicle. At 103k now. MPG seems slightly less but it could be we are just driving more city miles than before. Still a very good vehicle. No further issues.

Best CRV since 2004

2015 Honda CR-V Touring 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl CVT)
6 of 18 people found this review helpful

I had to sell my 2004 CRV AWD with less than 20k miles, since health issues made it difficult to use the clutch in the 5-speed. That car was one of the best I've ever owned - virtually nothing went wrong with it, aside from a few recalls, all it needed was oil and gas, and you were good to go. I truly enjoy the 2015 CRV Touring replacement - the electronics, the audio sound, noise suppression, the ride - everything except the rumble at 1200 rpm, and the fact that they got rid of the flip up back window. Luckily the way I drive I don't dwell at this rpm, so the vibration is just a minor annoyance. Without the flip back window, I can't carry long stuff in the back - like long boards, garden tools, my lawn mower, and stuff the wife buys that comes in long boxes. Can't say it too much, I really enjoy this car. >>>>> Update 2017 ++++++++++++++ Well I now have over 20,000 miles. I can't say I've enjoyed a vehicle more that this one. My old sports cars were fun, this is a delight. My combined fuel economy is 27.2, however I get close to 34 mpg on the highway. I added the front bug deflector, door protection trim package, rain/ wind deflectors and a 2" hitch on the back. The Honda recalls for the vibration issues worked very well. The potential negative impact of fuel usage did not materialize. I love the CVT. The only way I know what the transmission is doing is by watching the tachometer. I frequently drive through the Allegheny Mountains. I don't even notice the engine bogging down, like it did with my 2004, and it is very still very responsive when it needs more power. Driving with the cruise control is very pleasant, and the CVT seemlessly holds speed. On the "rare" occasions where I drove over 70 m/h (like in Florida), there is a big fall off in gas mileage starting at 74 m/h - 2 to 3 miles per gallon. At these speeds the car is very quiet and runs smooth - must be do to the noise cancelling features, and the ride itself.

2015 Honda CR-V Touring 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl CVT)

I purchased my new Honda CR-V (touring) on June 1, 2015. I have accumulated over 35000 miles on the vehicle driving across the west and in the northeast after retiring. Actually moved out to California for the winter with my dog, from Pennsylvania, with everything carried in the car. The car has been very comfortable, and I have felt safer due to the blind spot monitor camera on the passenger side view mirror. The car has been driven in a variety of weather conditions, esp. rain and wind conditions. Did have two episodes of hydroplaning with the OEM tires in severe downpour condidtions, easily dealt with by slowing down by taking foot off the gas pedal. Majority of driving has been freeway/interstate. No experience with snow or ice with this car. I love the quality of the entertainment system and the variety of options with Pandora and satellite radio. The hands free phone system is very cool in connection with my iPhone 6plus. Navigation is effective in helping me get where I want to go, and in accurately gauging the "are we there yet?" factor! Power lift tailgate is a great thing to have! I am concerned that later this month, after only 10 months of ownership, I will be out of warranty having driven as many miles as I have, but have had great experiences with Hondas (an Accord LX, a CR-V LX, and a Pilot Touring) in the past. Very happy with this vehicle.

Poor Gas Mileage but we still love it

Just a quick review since we've only owned the car for about a month. I'll try and update it as time goes by. The combined average mileage is 22-23 MPG per the car's computer and twice when I've filled up I've double checked the calculation based on miles vs gallons and it seems spot on. We drive this car like a GRANDMA and still the MPG sucks (compared to what they claim it will get) Yes there is a vibration, a "bogging" down when you first accelerate from a stop if you don't give it a good amount of gas. Get over it or don't buy the car. My Wife doesn't even notice it and it doesn't bother me. The CRV rides smooth! Interior is very comfortable and the lack of road noise is nice!

I have owned the 2015 Honda CRV LX for about a month. It has driven flawlessly. It has been reliable, comfortable, and a nice car to own. The heat has worked fine in 16 degree weather. I have the all wheel drive model. It drove fine on one inch or so of snow we had a few days ago. I think it is an excellent value.

My husband and I turned in our 3 year CR-V for the 2015 CR-V EX, and we love it. Just about everything has been improved. Although the styling hasn't changed too much, it feels like a much improved vehicle. I look forward to many years of enjoying the new CR-V.

Brand New 2015 CRV EX with horrible vibrations when idle. Do not buy!

My wife and I were so excited for our new CRV. We have two small children and this was going to give us extra room for our kids and their stuff and was replacing our 2002 Honda Civic which we had for 14 years with no problems. We loved all of the features and look of the CRV. We had come to love Honda from our Civic experience. However after purchasing the car and driving home 30 minutes (our test drive was about 10) we realized that the CRV had a serious problem. At idle at a traffic light the entire car began to strongly vibrate. We btiught the car back to the dealer and tested several others and they all did this. We have come to find out that the car idles at too low an rpm. Do not buy!

My wife really likes her 2013 CR-V, so the 2015 was on my short list when my ancient Saturn died. The biggest concern was the new CVT transmission, but after driving it for the better part of a month I've pretty much gotten used to it. It certainly has a different feel, and for someone who has driven manual transmissions for 40 years, the mild vibration I get at low speeds reminds me of the "lugging" that would usually prompt me to downshift. But it didn't take long for me to get used to it, and now I hardly notice it. The car itself has been absolutely flawless; no problems whatsoever. Handling is even better than my wife's 2013.

Unlike many who complain here, I have been thrilled with my purchase (2200 miles) with one small exception: some minor vibration at idle (about 600 RPMs). Honda now has a fix for this, as well as two other forms of vibration at higher RPMs (termed modes 1, 2 and 3). I had the mode 1 fix for the idling issue done today, and, voila! NO VIBRATION AT IDLE! I am thrilled. My fix involved new transmission and lower radiator mounts, neutralizing the engine mounts and some software fixes. Everything seems 'tighter' now, and am hoping mileage will improve as a result. Some have mentioned that you have to sign a disclaimer on mileage, but I don't recall that I did. Absolutely no charge and about 90 minutes of your time. Do it and be happy with your purchase again!! UPDATE, 8/18: Still no vibration. Have owned the auto for almost three years. Don't drive it a lot, so, as they say, "your mileage may vary".

Have had mine for almost a year now. Test drove a number of these and tried to replicate this "vibration" mentioned. This must be either waaaay overstated, or limited to a select few. Have not experienced this phantom "issue" once, though every car I've ever owned has had some level of vibration (perhaps because they all had engines).

Rating very high for: - excellent deal for 2015 CR-V close to $30,000 after negotiation - Touring trim, needs hardly any additional equipment or package at that price compared to the other similar cars whose price goes up 8f you opt for those accessories or technologies - SUV feel and cargo space - right blind spot camera standard on most trims is a marvellous idea most other brands don't provide; much superior to the blind spot warning beeper. Rear and blind spot cameras and splash guards should be standard equipment on all automobiles. - only accessories I agreed to were 4 splash guards already fitted on the car, although pricey, but I figured it would cost me not much lower after market, and trying to screw 4 of them in a crouching or lying down position would be very tedious for me. In Oregon where roads are wet at least half the year, it is very annoying and dangerous having the vehicles in front or side of you splashing all over your windshield all the time even when the rain is stopped , especially on the freeway at high speed. I am amazed there is no legal requirement for this low price equipment that can prevent accidents and save lives! - really liked the dealer placing number plates on the car immediately on buying for a fee that was reasonable and avoided the wait time involved - cannot rate reliability now, but historically, is excellent. - no sales tax in Oregon. Bought in Portland. Not so good: - Honda had year-end 0.9% promotional financing on all other models except on the CR-V; WHY? I will quickly refinance to lower the interest rate to half. Haven't started paying yet. Spoke to Honda Financial; they said go for it and have no strings or penalties attached if we do refinance early. - the dealer tried to sneak in additional fees and amounts over and above of what was agreed before visiting the showroom, repeatedly angering me and making me almost walk out a couple of times

Some people complain about the steering feel. True; there is slight vibration felt in the steering wheel at times during low CVT ratios, such as idling and slow acceleration. If Honda engineers isolated the driver from the steering feel, some people would complain about the lack of feedback. As the automobile evolves, and safety, reliability, economy and performance (CVT) are improved, the experience of driving necessarily changes. Until I have a self-driving car, I expect some steering feel and other feedback that engages me in the driving experience. The 2015 Honda CR-V hits the sweet spot of the current generation of the CR-V.

For me it was a toss up between a 2015-16 CR-V Touring AWD or a 2016 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD. It was gut wrenching because my last 4 cars have been Hyundais'. Both cars are truly neck and neck in almost every aspect. Although the Tucson had a few more extra features, such as heated rear seats and more refined technology. The two things that swayed me to a CR-V was, it had a much better ride. My Mom has a bad back and it was important to get a car she would be comfortable riding in when we spend time together. And Hyundai would not give me any incentives on a new purchase. So, having this car for two weeks now, I have no regrets. The voice commands and touch screen are painfully slow, and seriously Honda, no rotary volume knob!? I love how the rear seats fold several ways. I have no issues with vibration whatsoever. I was caught in absolutely terrible weather the other night, pounding rain and just nasty out. I felt very secure and safe in my CR-V, the AWD really does give peace of mind. Very happy with my decision. Although there are a few mis steps with this SUV, the package as a whole far outweigh and negatives I can point out. Next up is some window tint, summers are harsh here in Florida.

My wife and i bought a 2015 CRV back in May 2015 and it has been a great SUV. My wife at the time was pregnant and could not get in and out of our midsize Mercury Milan. We looked at the Toyota Rav4 and Volvo XC60 as well. When we looked at the Honda my wife drove and we both loved the seating position of the front seats and the rear seat room. The CRV had more room then the other 2 in rear and frontal room. It as well overall scored higher in the crash tests then the Toyota. I love how the seats fold flat easily and how easy a stroller and car seat go into this vehicle. My wife as well is beyond pleased and very much enjoys this car. Definitely worth the money

I bought my new 2015 CR-V in June 2015. I was very skeptical about purchasing a CR-V after reading so many reviews about the vibration problem. I have not experienced any problems with the vibration, what I have experienced is the wonderful gas mileage with my eco boost, the quality of the CR-V & great storage room. I enjoy being able to see out so well. I owned an 03 Accord for almost 13 years when I traded in June. I got a great deal & no vibration problem.

I took my first trip in my new 2015 Honda EX-L CRV. The odometer is high by almost 3 percent. Seems like Honda is repeating their 2006 odometer problem. Is this how honda improves the gas mileage? 3 % of 31 MPG is 30 MPG.

Man, after reading all these reviews you would think that every single 2015 CRV has this vibration issue. I will say that my brand new Touring has a SLIGHT vibration at idle (usually around 700rpm), almost like a purring cat, but it doesn't bother me at all. I've got about 1200 miles so far and it is unchanged since I bought it new at the dealer. There is zero vibration during driving even at highway speeds of 70-85mph. This is my 5th Honda and I am still incredibly pleased about my purchase. Between safety features, aesthetics, quality of the interior, and especially the fuel efficiency I see myself keeping this car for a very long time. Compared to my other Hondas this car does idle more roughly, and louder than my other vehicles, but I understand that is a result of the CVT and again, it doesn't bother me. Perhaps I just got lucky, or perhaps those with bad vehicles are a very vocal minority. I have no idea as I bought one of the last available 2015 models at the dealership before the 2016's started rolling in. My only complaint is that the US version of this car does not offer a rain-sensing windshield wiper. It's available in Canada, and when I purchased the Touring I assumed it was an included feature, but it is not. How is it that a top of the line car with adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and a blind spot camera doesn't have rain-sensing wipers as an option? Honda dropped the ball on that one.

We bought the CR-V EX-L to replace an older Acura. We chose a 2015 model in January 2016 which I think helped us get a 15% discount from MSRP. We chose the two wheel drive model to reduce purchase and maintenance costs. The car is overall excellent. Great features, fit and finish for the price. 16K Miles: The noise and vibration is a bit more than our Acura - as to be expected for the brand position and pricing. The radio and phone controls are not intuitive but easily learned. MPG has been less than expected despite operating it in "green leaf" mode. All in all, we highly recommend the car! ---- 35K Miles Update - Aug 2019: Now have 35K miles. Very good small SUV with very good reliability. Motor, paint and trim holding up well. Only issue was a front wheel bearing failed at 25K miles; dealer replaced it under warranty.

I traded my 2005 Pilot for the 2015 CR-V in November. I did not notice in the test drive but I have the same transmission vibration others have described. I now have 1800 miles on it and I am getting nowhere near the mileage advertised. I average 22-23 mpg combined city/highway. Now that I have gotten the disappointments out of the way I have to say I love the car. It is comfortable and stylish inside and out. The cargo room has been sufficient for me considering I came down in size from the Pilot. I would like to update my review.....it is now 5/2016 and my gas mileage started getting better a few months ago. No change in driving habits it is up to 26 MPG combined city/hwy. I have alwas used the econ setting so I have no explanation for the increase but I like it!

2015 CRV EX-L 4WD. No problem so far. Gas mileage depends on who is driving it. Wife: 21 mpg, When I drive it: 28 mpg. Air conditioning not so great, my 2001 Honda Accord is much more efficient. I don't feel the vibration too much or we probably got used to it, it jitters when going from 0 to 40 m/h. I called Honda company and complained, and they suggested to take it to dealer to apply some software patch, and then they asked me "when are you planning to go to the dealer ?". I said "Never", they asked "why", I said if I don't trust Honda itself (who knew about the vibration problem for 2 years now and they did not act), then how can I trust a dealer. I still love the car Update: 2019. At ~30k miles, engine is consuming oil (about 1 quart between oil change). I called Honda and they said "You will need to pay for the dealer to check the engine" Dealer wants ~$150 to check it.

I bought the 2015 CRV new in January 2015 and I loved it. The vehicle I had always wanted. Couple years ago it started shaking so they replaced the mounts on the transmission. It helped for a bit then it started again but worse. I took it in about 2-3 times again and the last time they said there’s nothing that can be done. I was so upset that I sent and email to Honda about how disappointed I was in “Honda” which are known to be great cars. I would be happy if they said they were trying to come up with a solution but nope. If this is “normal” for one of their cars then honestly I don’t want to buy another Honda. It’s BS!! I’m planning to trade it in for a different make.

Bad Brakes

2015 Honda CR-V EX-L 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl CVT)

I have a 2015 CR-V with 30,000 miles on it. I had to replace the brakes (rotors and all) at 12,000 miles and when I took it in for regular service, I was told the brakes needed to be replaced again! They will cover labor but say it is $250 for parts. As I was driving home, the brakes began to squeal. I called the dealer and they said the brakes are starting to fail & I need to come in soon. They were at 2mm when I left and I am now concerned the brakes will fail as I'm driving it back to the dealership. This is a safety issue! Others have evidently had the same problem. The brakes are only warrantied for 12,000 mi and I am at a little over 13,000 mi, of course. This is ridiculous----I am done.

Our 2015 CRV has been great. I've had absolutely no issues. The only thing I’ve needed is routine breaks (once), and tires, oil, and air filters. Performance and comfort are great. Handling is solid. Quite happy. Only two things I'd change: --the built in microphone for calls really has a hard time with any ambient noise. Wind or even air from the vents regularly disrupts calls and commands. --You also can't start a call or text and use the turn signal at the same time. Somehow the side view mirror camera takes over the system entirely as you turn. It's annoying if you're at a long light and have your blinker on. -- The tan seats get spots too easily. I moved to the CRV from he Ody van and a Passat and Camry before that. These CRV seats definitely mark up more quickly than any of the others. Scotchgaurd helps a lot. Other than that, great car! Solid mileage Great comfort for 6'2" - 5'2" husband and wife drivers. Love the lumbar and height adjust on my EX Nice handling in 4 season weather Interior sound is pretty quiet. No permanent sagging or wear to the interior at all. The black carpets (beige seats) help keep the floor immaculate looking. Lots of nice storage esp compared to other small suvs I had researched. Not a single mechanical or electrical issue. At 95k my drivers seat started to squeak once in a while, but it stopped on its own. Love this CRV.

Love everything about this car from the sleek styling to the overall comfort and reliability of a Honda. Wouldn't buy anything else but a Honda. We have a black on black interior. The cabin is spacious, lots of leg room, great gas mileage, beautiful interior screens, back up camera, side view camera.... It's loaded for the EX.

I've only owned the car for 7 mos. It was stolen off of street parking. I liked the car a lot. My main dislike is the body is made of plastic with underlying cardboard in places, but that's how all cars are made today. The gas mileage did not approach the EPA ratings. It was far less by 6-8 mpg.

What Vibration Issue?

I have read the complainants about vibration at idle with the eco on and off. There is a slight vibration but that is with all cars, even the 2013 Nissan Altima, I bought brand new. If setting the RPM's higher fix the issue has no one asked a Honda Tech to reprogram for a higher idle. Think of a washer, the slower it spins the more vibrations it is going to have. Not nearly enough to give this car less than 4 stars. Some have even admitted that there was an issue during the test drive. Why buy then?. Honda is notorious for being a little more sporty than Nissan or Toyota, hence the road feel. Drive a BMW 5 series supped up, that is some serious vibration at idle.

My Honda is 800 miles and I haven't felt any vibration. I am so happy that I decided to buy the car, even though I was hesitant after reading all the reviews about the vibration. It drives very smoothly and I actually really like the CVT. So far I am getting about 29 miles/gallon when I drive to work. This is surface streets + highways. My other car is Honda CRV 2006. AT 140K miles, the only issue I've ever had was a light bulb that needed to be replaced. I've decided to keep both cars because the 2006 is higher and better for off-roading. Knowing how reliable Honda's are, I decided to go with my gut. The 2015 CRV is great to drive - quiet, smooth and, of course, reliable.

This new CRV is really fantastic to drive! We love everything except: No auto adjust on front passenger seat. That means there are probably 40 things about it we love like the cameras and blue tooth. And there are so many small things that they paid attention to like the connection to signal on the dash panel. We just keep discovering more as well! Like this one even better than our RAV 4 which we also still drive.

My mechanic (and owner of shop) told me this was the car to buy over a Rav 4. This car handles amazingly in the snow!! It handles well and is comfortable to ride. I purchased the EX-L and I am glad I did. Like others said, there is a slight vibration when you have the foot on the brake at a stop, but not a big deal. Honda has a great reputation and I am so glad I bought this car. The back has great leg room as well. No regrets

Performs well. Easy to operate, good acceleration and braking. Excellent cargo space and very comfortable seats. Look is really nice and handles well. It lacks the blind spot blinkers and audible warnings but includes a camera for passenger side blindspots. That helps but can also be distracting. Doesn't allow voice commands for audio and navigation but does for phones. Good lane monitoring system, collision, variable cruise control and braking.

Great vehicle this is my third one. Nice levels of comfort, reliability, fuel economy and power. Had for a little over 2 years now and still a great vehicle. It gets 25mpg around the suburbs and about 34 mpg highway. Original tires still like new. We have not had a single problem with it. Had one recall to adjust computer and it took about 15 minutes. We leave it outside year round and it still looks new inside and out. Would definitely consider another one when my wife's accord needs replaced. Going on 7 years old got new tires all around. Oil changes are the only maintenance done other than oil filters. Still low mileage (41,000 miles) Would possibly buy a new one if dealers would start getting new ones in.

Decent so far, reliable Honda SUV roomy enough, comfortable, AWD great for east coast where we just had 3feet of snow. It's not fancy, it's not stripped down, it's just right for everyday driving and commuting. My last Hionda vehicle ( Civic) going strong still 80,000 miles no issues, hoping the same for this 2016

We went from a 2011 Honda Civic that had elusive periodic issues with the ignition. We adore the CRV. Once in a while at a stop light I notice some vibrations, but nothing to get upset about. The back up camera, right side indicator/safety camera, dash, roomy size and the gas economy are fabulous. I was worried I would spend more in fuel costs, it has worked out exactly the same as the wee Civic, so I am very happy. The heater does take longer than I had hoped to warm, the wipers are somewhat awkward and washer continues to drip.. there is also a dead spot for the fluid, right at the passenger's eye level-frustrating. We are also experiencing an exhaust smell in the cabin on vent. Update... March 2017 - Still LOVE her!!!! There's an undetectable leak from the sunroof though. Blowing rain or standing snow causes some horrible wetness in the passenger seat, door and floor mat which can be frustrating.

My wife and I love our CRV. We have a AWD Touring model. Very smooth handling/driving. The ride is smooth and appropriately quiet for the type vehicle. Acceleration is smooth. (We have another 8 yr old vehicle with CVT with no problems.) There is no vibration riding or idling. In our 60's and really like ease of entry/exit. We especially like the new tech features of the right turn video of the right side of vehicle, the adaptive cruise control, the lane keep assist, blue tooth pairing of iPhone and three way view of the backup camera! Glad it has adaptive braking, but do not want to test it. Overall very stylish to own. Updated: March 14, 2016 Had the opportunity to take 2 trips of about 1500 miles each and regular around town driving. We still love how the car handles and rides. Really like the adaptive cruise control out on the interstate. We finally developed the minor vibration that some reviews mention; happens with us at around 72-74mph on the interstate; not noticed with around town driving. Updated: September 14,2016 Now several trips later and up to 15,000+; we still love this car. Primarily my wife's around town car and our travel car. Averaging 29-31 mpg. The more I drive it the more I like it. Easy handling and parking, great ride and still love the driver assist features. Wife likes the ability to fold down seats from the back and the easy loading height. The only item I still monitor is the oil change percent indicator. Our older Honda is down to 20% by about 6,000 miles; first oil change on this one was at 10,000. With just over 15,000 now the percent is at 50, so looks like another 10,000 interval. Seems high to me, but dealer assures me they are using pure synthetic so no need to worry. Great car for retirees. Would definitely buy again. Updated: September 15, 2017 Still very satisfied at 36,150 miles. Numerous trips now. All aspects of vehicle still working well with no mechanical or fit/finish issues.

CVT Transmission takes getting comfortable with. Once you understand what it is doing you will realize it is nicer than a standard shifting automatic transmission. Read things on the internet as to how CVT works so you understand what is going on with your CRV. As for the vibration issues - there are fixes but I have not had any done. Basically you can eliminate the issue by simply turning on the headlights and keeping your oil changed as required. I additionally only use Top-Tier Gas (Regular) and ---- the big thing in addition to the headlights ---- I do not use the Econ Green Button System. I also see comments regarding seat comfort. I am 6' Tall and have no problems. I use a wooden bead vented driving seat and back and it works great. As for the problems reported at higher speeds. I have had no problems going quite fast - on roads with 70 mph speed limits.

Purchased this car because of safety technology. The collision mitigation does not work. As a race car driver, I tested the system to the max without a collision. The system does not intervene in a way that would prevent an accident. Honda will not recognize the issue at both the dealership and corporate level. Subaru does not have this problem.
