2013 Honda CR-V EX-L w/Navigation 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)


First drive was across central Oregon at 60 mph.
Note speed limit is only 55.
But 35.4 mpg for the first tank fillup is pretty darn good.
Wind that day was calm and dry roads.

Since then it's only been around town with an average speed of 27 to 29 mph.
With that I'm getting 29 to 30 mpg.

Best Features

I'm 6' 2" and average build. Seats are very comfortable. Load it up with three adults and 2 children and still feels like a lot of room. Very well designed.

Worst Features

I have been using Garmin GPS for years. Really miss the "speed limit" tag on display. And several times I've jumped into the co-pilot seat to play with the nav/radio system and have been "locked out", unable to practice or help the driver. Note, when in "drive" most features are disabled from the dash mounted unit. Those features are only available thru steering wheel buttons and voice commands. Suggestion, have some sort of an override similar to the air bag OFF feature. When someone is occupying that co-pilot seat, enable an override for example.

Don't know what kind of Honda you drive or if your math is correct, ours has never gotten gas mileage even close to your numbers?

After 3 months ownership, still getting pretty good fuel mileage. 1,400 mile drive from ID to CA averaged 30.3mpg for Xmas break. Extreme high mpg was Reno to SF - 37.2mpg. Low was 29.2 SF back to Lovelock, NV. When in rolling hills, better to drive with ECON mode OFF. Engine performance is "dummed" down when ON. In cruise control mode, you see pretty big swings in speed (-7 or 8 mph) before computer downshift. With ECON OFF, you'll only see -2 mph before downshift. Also noticed in the downhill at freeway speeds, you'll notice car speed coast up to 5 mph above cruise cntl speed before computer automatically downshifts to D3 to help slow you down. Also found a big parking lot that was froze over with ice and empty. Test time! Found it took a bit of work to get the CRV to slide. It has what I call "ASA" and "ASB". Anti-skid Acceleration and anti-skid braking. Simply think of it as an "A" & "B" system! You can see the difference by simply turning OFF the VSA system. Huge difference. And that GPS. Honda GPS is very "street address" oriented. If you don't have the street address handy, best to use the mouse, and zoom over to the area you're trying to navigate to and ENTER. Example, try navigating to a CITY. Say you're in SF and want to drive to Monteray. Darn near impossible to find by searching the data base. Way easier to just use the zoom OUT, mouse down (slew) to Monteray. Then zoom IN to a spot of your liking, and ENTER. OK as destination. And you're on your way. Simple. Sure is fun to drive!
