30+ yrs of Driving Hondas

2006 Honda CR-V Special Edition 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

I've been driving Hondas since 1977 (accord, civics, hybrid and acura) and this is my 6th. I really enjoy my '06 CRV/SE. It handles well and is the perfect size for me. I traded in my Civic Hybrid because I wanted more room for camping, etc. The Hybrid got about 42+ mpg so it's a bit tough getting used to the new 22 mpg at 30%/70% city/hwy driving in the CR-V. I haven't decided which model I'm getting for my 7th.

Great little SUV

Overall, I love this SUV. I was worried going from a V6 to a 4 cylinder, but I'm actually surprised at the pick-up this car has. The AWD has been a huge help in the snow and dirt even though it isn't a true 4x4. It is comfortable and has plenty of space and I like the interior layout. I have had a problem with the glove box not completely closing and was told by honda that it is a frequent problem and that they just replace it. It also makes a clanking sound when you first start to drive, but I was told by Honda that it was the rear ABS activating. It worried me at first, but I guess it's ok.

All But The Mileage

I have owned four Hondas, all have been great reliable cars. In this new addition, the gas mileage is a crime. There should be a law to prevent misrepresenting gas mileage this much. This 4 cyl CRV is getting about the same mileage my 4X4 Toyota Tundra Pickup go when it was new. 17 MPG driving the same roads.

Great Little SUV!

I have only had my CR-V a short time, but I am very happy with it. I am amazed at how much pep it has. I live in a rural area with many steep, curvy roads and my CR-V handles even the steepest hills with ease. Despite the tough driving conditions, it is still getting 23+ mpg, which I feel is excellent for the roads I travel and this also includes city driving. It handles like a small car, has a very tight turning radius and yet has enough cargo room for hauling gardening and horse supplies and my 100-lb dog! It provides a smooth ride and has plenty of room for passengers. I think it's a great little SUV and I feel I made a good choice.

Dying Breed - Get One Before LX is Gone!

This is my third Honda, all based on the Civic platform, dating back to 1982. The first two were 82 and 89 Civics. They served their purpose, but I ended up with a bunch of Toyotas, including a 1993 Toyota Previa which now has well over 400K miles. When looking for an all-around family utility vehicle, I almost ended up buying the Toyota RAV4, but the 2005 model was too small and the 2006 model is trying to be another Toyota Highlander, bigger and over-priced. I searched all over car lots for something to set itself apart, that's when I came across the 2006 Honda CR-V LX 4WD, the ONLY trim level made in Japan, not England. All 2007 CR-V will be bigger made outside Japan; that's OK, Right?
