Used 2012 Honda Civic Consumer Reviews
Driving the new 2012 Honda Civic LX 4dr sedan
I just bought a new 2012 Civic LX from Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos, California. [non-permissible content removed] Now about my new car. It is so good looking, and it is so wonderful to drive. I researched many vehicles through Consumer Reports and Edmunds and also Kelly Blue Book, and I wasn't quite sure. However, I am in love with how it drives. It is so right for me. I wanted fun, and I got fun. I wanted economy, and I got economy. I wanted a great looking vehicle, and I got that too.
A step up from the last gen Si
I totaled my 2009 Civic Si Sedan, I was T-Boned by a full-size SUV doing 40+ MPH, the Civic Si held up superbly, so I knew I wanted another one. So now I have had my 2012 Civic Si Sedan for a bit and can comment on it over the 09. It's a big step up, not only in looks, but in power, the torque is very noticeable and the ride is smoother. Not as sporty as the 09 but grippier than a regular civic, my Wife enjoys the ride more and its more comfortable on the road. The upholstery... the '09 has softer plush-ier fabric, but I actually prefer the new fabric due to pet hair and it seems easier to clean as well. I miss the higher redline of the 09, but the '12 feels less of a "chore" to drive.
Five stars with an asterisk
In the 8 years of ownership of our 2012 Civic, the vehicle has operated reliably and without issue. Averaging 12K miles a year, we have maintained the vehicle as recommended (regular fluid changes, tire and battery replacement) without need for additional service or attention. Power and acceleration, passing power and fuel economy sufficient. Actual 28 city/32 highway. Cabin noise and occupant comfort are the negatives. Loud droning road noise is irritating, regardless of tire choice...and seats are hard and narrow for me personally (6’/185)...which is essential for the amount of travel I perform. This is my fourth Civic since the mid-80’s...with the 1985 still being the best of all four.

150 HP Gas Saver
This car has ample cargo room and takes the load it bears over mountains, going from 5000 ft elevation to 1000 in half an hour, with ease of power. Yep, to get to town or work, thats what I climb or descend, so HP is very important. I have not had any repairs in 90K miles of driving it. I have changed my own oil, coolant, and transmission oil with no struggle. I sometimes wear earplugs to listen to my radio on my phone and so I have to cut off the bluetooth on the counsel.....because road noise is the downside and have replaced tires every 40K just trying to improve the ride and get some silence, but even premium tires cannot make the ride quieter.so Honda has room for improvement but overall, what a gas saver...

Still a great ride!
My intitial impression of owning the car is great. It's incrementally better than gen. 8 (2006-2011) The information display is very helpful and the ride is comfortable. Continental 16" tires have been no problem in rain on the hwy and car handles in typical Honda fasion with a compliant and solid feeling. The interior, which has been the subject of much debate could feel a little "warmer" but overall isnt offensive. The navigation system in my vehicle helps to absorb some of the plainess on the dash associated with lower trim models. I continue to stay with Honda for their reliablity, strong resale value and for how well im treated at my local Honda dealership for service.
