I'm amazed
I bought this car expecting it to be full of problems - I got it cheap, so I could budget for repairs. Well, to my surprise, the car has been flawless. I've put nearly 10K miles on it (total nearly 40K). I have all the previous records, and its only repair was a fuel pump (common issue I hear). Thats it! I cannot find any probems. It handles well, and has a very smooth quiet ride. The engine is powerful enough to make it fun to drive. I love having ABS and side airbags - it was hard finding a 5-spd ZX3 with those options, as well as all the power equipment.
So far, so good
I have 31K miles on it so far, and there have been no major problems. A couple recalls, and a few very minor inconveniences have occurred. The brakes and windows are both a little squeaky. Also, once in a blue moon, my gas gauge decides not to work. I enjoy driving it. It handles very well, and has plenty of power to change lanes and merge in traffic. I get around 31 mpg. Overall a fun car to drive.
FOCUS ZX3 2000 KONA ED
I regret to have an automatic transmission on that car, it is much more fun and fast with a stick. Go with 16 wheels, it helps a lot the handling and maybe with 205/40/16 tires instead of 50's for a better stability when driving aggressively. I cannot wait that my Firestone Firehawk stock tires wear out, they are terrible.
Great Car... If parts would stop failing
The car is great... i love the way it looks drives and handles. The fold down rear seats provide oodles of storage space when you need it... However, i too have been to the ford dealership a little to often for my tastes. Everything has been covered by the warranty but i bought a new car so i wouldn't have to worry about the problems. However, i know my service guy really well now.
Way more fun than a Toyota Corolla
I bought this car brand new, and have owned it for almost eight years. It's been a blast to drive and way, way more reliable than my previous car (Toyota Corolla). Only major complaint was an ignition lock problem in year seven, which by then was out of warranty and cost $250 to replace. Being a 1st year model it had a few recalls but they were fixed quick, free, and easy. Fuel economy (23 city, 33 highway) was a little lower than expected. Handling was a MAJOR positive surprise. Braking fine, replaced once at 51K. Front and Rear headroom impressive - a friend who is 6'3" fits in the back seat with no complaints... and he even works for GM. 5-speed manual shifts fine, clutch is a breeze.
