Can't hear you over the brake squeal
I was called in for every possible recall except the most irritating one, brakes. At 20,000 the pads had to be replaced. At 41,000 the pads, calipers, and rotors went. The following day I bought a Honda Civic LS. I will not own a Ford again because they did not stand behind their product.
Great after the first year
Purchased this car new in 2000. In the first year, we suffered through a few recalls and had the fuel pump replaced a couple of times. However, it seems everything has been fixed, because there have been no problems with the car since the warranty expired. It has only been in the shop for oil changes and other regular maintenance. Its not new anymore, but I can't justify getting a newer car when the old one is still reliable and gets very good gas mileage for an 8-year old.
Major Mistake!!!
The CD player has been replaced twice and in fact is in the shop now. The air conditioning leaked into my car and caused it to mildew under the carpets. There was a strange smell coming from the air conditioner and for a while black soot like stuff came shooting out of the vents. For a while now it has not been accelerating properly. It feels like it's dragging. The brakes went bad at 35k and the fuel pump had to be replaced at 37k . After they replaced the fuel pump, I started having strange electrical problems. When I turn the air conditioning up or the lights on something else will turn off.
Worst car ever!
I bought this car believing the hype from both Consumer Reports and everywhere else. I have now owned my Focus for 2 years, and I have had it in the shop 12 times. Yup, 12 times. 6 recalls and 6 broken parts that were under warranty. I have never been more disappointed in any product in my entire life. Truly, Ford has continued along the tradition of the Pinto, where they calculate how much it will cost to replace broken stuff as being lower then how much it will cost to put in higher quality parts. It's a textbook cost-benefit analysis, and Ford wrote the textbook. Don't buy a Ford.
Best car ever... will only ever buy ford
I love my focus, i have had it for a few months and it has been nothing but good. I have heard of all the problems but so far none of them. And I think i may have some electrical problems going on with the radio.. Road noise there isnt much. All around perfect car.
