BIG RED vs BLACKIE

Big Red is my 2nd Ford truck. What can I say ? I love this truck! I bought in 2000 with 62k miles on it. Change the oil every 5k miles & filters once a year & you will never have a problem. Blackie was my '85 & a base model. Manual & straight 6. Classic. These 2 years were (imho) the best looking trucks in the last 20 years. I'm so glad that the '04 style looks like a truck again. Can't wait to see & get the 2005 !

About a year ago I got myself a F-350 and needed to do something with my F-150 so I asked my dad would he like to have my F-150? He smiled and said sure. He has used it for multiple tasks. And said he enjoys being in it. Reminds him of the days when he was able to do alot more work using his old 1977 Ford Ranger F-150 XLT. I remember driving that powerful truck when I was 18. So we are keeping my 1995 F-150 in the family. For what I am sure will be a reliable hard working fun and very functional truck, for years to come.

I found out that eBay was the best source for finding this year model used truck. Consumer Reports reliability survey results indicated that Ford was ahead of Chevy and Dodge for 1/2 ton, full-size truck models from the mid-90s. Except for 3/4 ton plus trucks, crew cabs weren't the rage in the mid-90s but at least the extended cabs on full-size trucks can hold three kids (or three adults in a pinch).

I have owned this truck since 1997. Had 23,000 miles when I bought it. Has 235,000 now. I just can't sell it. It has never let me down. The 300 six is un-stoppable. Ford should have never stopped building this engine. Mine is Black with gold accent. When shes washed and waxed, I still get comments on her great looks. Don't drive it much anymore, but like I said, I can't seem to part with her. Replaced one hydraulic clutch actuator, clutch and two alternators. That's it. Still runs like new. Best vehicle I have ever owned!
