Good car worst service by almost all Ford Dealers

I bought my Ford Explorer 2013 with about 10,000 miles on it from a car dealer in MA. Besides the manufacturer warranty, that car was a Ford Certified vehicle, which an additional 12,000 miles and 12 months warranty. All was worth less from the first problem with the car. The car started leaking water through the seat belts of the back seat, and here was the moment of truth. Dealers were reluctant to accept the car for service, and when I tried to lure them by including oil change and break service, they gave me two appointments, now for oil change and break job but weeks for the water leak. This experience involved about four dealers one of them is about an hour and a half from my home.

I have always owned Japanese cars/suv. I really like the style of the Explorer(looks like a range rover)so i switched to Ford. Well, the quality is about just as good as a range rover. $45k sticker. Xlt with sport apperence package, sync, dual panel moon roof, leather/suede/voice activated, nav, etc. Loaded up nice. Fuel economy isn't what it's rated at unless your driving Mrs. Daisy. Where do i begin. Bought brand new, always dealer maintained. Hood blistered at lip(15k miles) and it's aluminum! Steering rack completely went, non serviceable. Whole rack replaced(22k miles). Weather stripping tearing and falling off car. Ford ok'd to replace. Inside of doors are rubbing, all the paint is gone off the bottom, starting to rust(25,500k). Now the idle is surging when first starting with heat on. I was told could be a program issue or a/c compressor clutch is going bad(26,300). WTF Ford? These mass produced junk boxes should be taken off the road. Never ever again will i buy a Ford. I have an 03 F150, runs like a bear.If you buy one of these, get a good and very long warranty, you're gonna need it!!!

Poor Reliability, expensive repairs

Had new battery installed, picked up vehicle, no radio, usb not working. Had to leave car at dealer, need an electronic module, $800 to repeater and 1 week sitting at the dealer. Headlights are insufficient and outright safety hazard, Ford could not provide a safe solution. Advertise “fog lights” that are just ornamental. Fog lights do not provide any additional illumination for improved visibility and safety. Extremely disappointed with the high maintenance costs and poor reliability of electric components.

I switched to an Explorer after owning several GM products. Although the GM’s always treated me well, I expect to replace this Explorer with another Explorer when I decide to upgrade. Currently I have a little over 75k miles and not a single issue with the reliability. The 3.5 Ecoboost makes this car fun so fun to drive (which really sets it apart from the class). Additionally the ride is amazingly smooth and quiet making for easy long distance highway driving. My only complaint is that it is difficult to judge how close you are to things up front when maneuvering (the new models have front parking sensors and a camera). However, you’ll be hard pressed to find another vehicle in this price range that drives like a performance car, allows you to safely drive through heavy snow, tow a boat, and carry 6-7 people. I expect to keep this car until it has at least 125k miles, so I will report at a later date of longer term reliability.

Had my 2013 Explorer Base - AWD - for a little over a year. The car has performed perfectly for me. Plenty of pick up & power between 3-4RPM but your MPG will hurt. I can average 19-20MPG Compbined City & HWY. The interior blows away the Chevy competition, can't speak towards dodge and other direct competitors. So far the only issue i've had has been with the gas tank. Car infront of me lost its muffler and i couldn't avoid. it struck my gas tank causing the sending unit to fail. a $25 part cost me almost $500 because of the time to take down the sattle style gas tank.
