At 220,000 xfer case destroyed itself costing 1500.00 rebuild, at 300,000 transmission destroyed itself costing 1250 rebuild $, 4 liter v6 motor has still got another 100,000. Leather interior seats are holding up very well. Do not by cheap door handles from auto parts stores not even from napa , they are Chinese and made from wrong plastic. Original Ford oem made from frp resin are the only ones that will not break until many years of service, these cost 30% more than the crummy ones at autozone or napa or pep boys. I do all my own work, m teh 1995 has serious design flaws in xfer case and 4wdv control scheme. I know this car well, 330,000 miles, 150 miles per day comm.

This ford has been good to me. No major problems. Just routine maintenance. I now have to trade it in as a clunker.

For an American-made car and first year of this model redesign, this car has been excellent and reliable.

We bought this vehicle because we now owned a cottage in the Maine lakes region and needed 4 wheel drive. I am the main driver and I can't say enough about it. It has over 150,000 miles and the only major problem has been the fuel pump. Grant it that we have been very fortunate in that regard, although my husband is faithful about checking the vehicle and changing the oil and rotating the tires. I would recommend the 1995 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition to anyone.

Looks like I bought it off the showroom floor

I bought my Ford Explorer XLT 4wd on 1995. Today it only has 120 00 miles on it. It has been garage kept and looks like I bought the right off the showroom floor. The inside is just as clean with the original components including an am fm cassette audio system. We have mostly used the vehicle for long range trips. It gets terrific gas milelage on the highway. The only problem with the vehicle is a unique problem for explorers of this time period. The odometer has quit working. Other then that in handles great and will probably last another 10 years as long as I take care of it. It's the best vehicle I ever had.
