We have had our 2021 Edge in the shop for about a week now. The engine stalled on us multiple times. The dealership replaced one part, but it is still getting stuck shifting between gears. Only 2000 miles.

2021 Ford Edge tech issues

Leased my 2021 Ford Edge Titanium in July 2021. This is my 3rd Edge and I have always liked the performance. Unfortunately, the 2021 model doesn’t measure up to my other Edges. First thing I noticed was the stiffness of the ride and a continuous knock coming from behind the right rear seat. But the biggest issue I have is the Edges electronics. From the info screen going blank to the misalignment of the rear view camera, which renders it unreliable because the sensors point towards the ground and doesn’t always sense cars or people behind the vehicle. The rear hatch came down while my wife was removing groceries, on a number of occasions. The right side blindside detector doesn’t always pick up vehicles in the zone. The info screen continuously wipes out previous audio and phone settings. I could go on, but there’s just too many issues with this vehicle. This $ 47,000 Edge can not be trusted. I have brought the Edge in for service 3 times at 2 different dealerships. Only to be told that they were unable to replicate these problems. And the service department and my sales rep insist that the rear view camera is positioned correctly p, even though half the screen displays my license plate. I contacted Ford corporate to get assistance with my issues. Only to be told there’s nothing they can do. So, for $ 47,000 I get an unreliable and sometimes dangerous vehicle.

2021 Edge Titanium Enhancements are Crap

Hatch Whacked, 07/15/2022

Like a previous review, this is my third Ford Edge Titanium lease. I had a 2015, and 2018, and loved them. I drive 33,000/yr. In 2021 Ford added a bunch of enhancements just so it would look like they had made improvements. The 12" screen is the worst of them. Putting all the climate controls on the screen forces you to take your eyes off the road to make adjustments and turn features off and on. The touch screen makes it especially fun when it is -30 deg. C, I am wearing gloves, and I have to adjust the heat controls, heated seats, heated steering wheel, defrost, or fan. I have to remove my glove and keep poking the screen until the feature works. I used to be able to access the mechanical buttons and knobs by memory without looking down. These features on the bottom of the 12" screen are distracted driving at their finest. The 4 cylinder engine and transmission combo are peppy, but the engine sounds like a sewing machine. I cannot count the number of times the rear hatch has come down on me when I have been at the back of the car putting on ski boots or loading stuff. This was never a problem on previous models. The plastic rear bumper is not secured on either side of the trailer hitch and just flaps around, especially on a bumpy gravel road. Intermittent rain sensing wipers do not work worth sh*t when it is snowing, by the way. Turn off that feature. Ford added a second lane keeping button to the steering wheel and juggled the cruise control buttons. It took me 6 months to get used to the new button positions on for the cruise controls, after 7 years of them being in the same location. The passenger side seat belt kept locking every time my wife moved. I had finally had enough of my wife's frustration, and drove directly to the dealer. I would have traded the thing in, if they had any cars on the lot (chip shortage). They did fix it on warranty, and I am trying to put up with the rest of the annoyances. Hey Ford, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
