Love everything about this car EXCEPT the cloth upholstery

I truly love this car. I previously owned ten Volkswagens and two Subarus and found the Edge to be much more reliable and the build being of better quality. I can put the back seat down and the front seat down and put my kayak inside the vehicle too! The interior plastic is of good quality and does NOT rattle at all (which was a big issue I had with the Subaru's...that and the stupid muffler guard always being loose). I will stick with Ford in the future. The only thing I wish I did differently was I would've bought leather. The cloth upholstery is HORRIBLE and even when rain hits it the seats look like someone peed on them! Pay for Scotchguard or get the leather package!

Riding the Edge

Edge is a very nice ride and in the three years we have owned it only the battery has failed us. Wish it had a dash storage space like my Fusion though. I would definitely recommend this vehicle as a family ride.

Like a Cross Between Driving a Lincoln and an F250

Loved this SUV since first seeing the earliest model when it came out in late 2006. I LOVE this car’s distinctive, “chunky” styling. It’s Bad-Ass!! It is absolutely unique looking. If you look at all the SUVs out there, many are indistinguishable from each other - the Nissan looks like the Lexus which looks like the Mazda...you get the idea. The Edge looks like a FORD and like nothing else. It drives beautifully. The cabin is gorgeous; the seats are like sitting in a comfy plush chair. The handling is crisp, if a bit heavy (I have the Sport version which has 22” wheels which gives this particular model a slightly heavier feel - but I love it, I call it a “two fisted driving experience”) I find it’s still a pleasure to drive. It’s like a cross between driving a Lincoln Town Car and a Ford F-150 truck. It feels very solid and strong, well built. No rattles (at least not yet!) The 3.7 V6 is a great engine and the car is pretty fast - not as fast as a 1968 Shelby Mustang with a 428 V8, obviously but fast enough for most anyone’s practical needs - quick off the line and very powerful for passing on the highway. The fit and finish of the body panels, as well as all the interior components, is excellent. With the back seats down, there is plenty of space for your stuff. The only thing a prospective buyer should be aware of is that the Edge V6 engine has an internal water pump, and this design can be trouble IF you are not meticulous about changing your oil and engine coolant. If you’re sincerely interested in purchasing a Ford Edge, I recommend doing your homework. I did...and looked for awhile before finding a beautiful 2013 Edge Sport at Carmax with only 21K miles on her! If you find an older model with low mileage, try to find one that is a ONE OWNER vehicle, and confirm the previous owner has all his service records. The key to having a good experience buying an Edge is finding one that has been meticulously cared for. If you find the RIGHT ONE, I think you will be very happy with your Ford Edge. Happy Hunting!

Has been a very reliable, solid SUV

Bought new at the end of 2013, SE model with the 3.5 V6. Only one problem in 4 years, an gas tank overflow valve started sticking and causing a check engine light. Replaced it myself for about 50 bucks. Car has over 106k miles on it now.

I get a lot of coments on my Edge. I have the Deep Impact Blue SEL with Vista Sun Roof. I've had it for almost 2 months and I love this car. It's fun to drive, it has plenty of power when you need it. I'm a big guy, 6'4" and I have plenty of room vertically, could use a little more room in the hips, snug but comfortable. I'm avg 16.4 mpg but I do a lot of stop and go driving. I am looking forward to a long trip. The didn't think I would like Vista Roof, but it was the only SEL in Blue the dealer had, but driving down the Paliseades with the wind in my hair and the sound system blairing, makes me feel young again! Did I say I love this Car?!?!
