Used 2016 Ford C-Max Energi Wagon Consumer Reviews
Quiet and strong, with rare visits to refuel.
Reviewer error: says load floor above battery is 1 ft higher than laid forward seat backs, is actually much less than that. Plenty of room for shopping bags and closing cargo cover. This might be the greatest commuter vehicle ever. Plenty of room for groceries and even the monthly Costco run. The HOV sticker is convenient. 500 mile range all reviewers and EPA report is irrelevant and useless information. I typically go over 2000 miles on a tank. Engine could last half a million miles if it only is on 20% of the time! Down side is that the battery cooling system is inadequate for a 2 charge per day use. My battery capacity is down 25% from new. I monitor battery temperature and switch to EV Later mode if battery is getting too hot.

528 miles per gallon.
Using it almost exclusively on electric mode. I make a lot of short trips and can go about 24 miles in all electric mode. Great rebates from Ford, Federal government and State of California. My utility company will pay for charging the first year and after that on all-electric mode it is about 1.5 cents per mile. Very happy with the car.

Ford Should Promote this Car More Widely!
We just turned in our leased Chev Volt (lloved the technology but interior was way too small) and went looking for a roomier electric and gas car. We live in Alaska so a full electric car is a too hard to manage (few charging stations). These Energi combo vehicle works great. After looking at the new Prius and testing higher end hybrids (Avalon, Malibu, etc.) we settled on the CMax Energi for two main reasons: (a) comfort - this is a great vehicle for us and has plenty of headroom (I'm 6'2" and could not physically fit into a Toyota Avalon) and (2) Price - we got a fantastic deal on the 2016 model in January 2017... oh, and the amazing feud economy is also a given... After one month driving in temps from -20F to 37F we couldn't be happier - the car has great winter features and gets better mileage than the Volt! Oh... and I finally get to sit upright again... so why doesn't Ford promote this vehicle more actively?

CMax Energie
We bought the plug in hibred because most of out shopping consists of 16 mile trips to the grocery store and to the doctors office. The car will go more than that distance on batteries alone so no gas costs. Also since the body is based on the wagon and sitting position is upright it is much easier to get into and out of for handicapped people like me, which was a big selling point. Also Ford gave very generous rebate and discounts, making it a realatively inexpensive car for what it is. We compared it with the Audi Etron and the BMW 320e, the only other plug in hibreds available. . After a years of driving, all in city traffic, it's a great car. We charge it up regularly and get about 18 miles on a charge in hot weather with the AC on. Getting in and out of the car is easy for old handicapped people. In hybrid mode it gets 44.3 MPG, in electric mode it uses no gas at all. We ar enot big users of electronics so can't judge the electronics such as bluetooth because we don't use them. The 120 V charger that came with the car charges in about 5.5 hours. I b ought a 240 V charger that charges in about 2.5 hours. Maximum milage on one charge has been 21 miles but 18 is average and winter is less, maybe 16 miles.

So much more than I expcted!
I went to the dealership looking at Escapes - I wanted a hatchback, "decent" gas mileage, and lots of bells and whistles. My salesman asked If I'd considered a C-Max - I was anti-hybrid prior to this but he showed me a 2015 lease turn in. First, LOTS of options! Second - Sits like a small SUV, plenty of pep, and handles beautifully with the wider tires and bigger wheels! Third - 80+ MPG is not out of the question - and between initial charge on the Energi and Hybrid backup, I see this on a pretty consistent basis. After 2400 miles of ownership, I just filled up for the 3rd time. Everyone who has ridden with me compliments the interior, quiet ride, and comfort - and then I tell them the fuel economy and they are shocked! No regrets here, I'm in love with this car!
