Well Worth A Look!!

I have had this car now for 9 months and 14k miles. It is amazing!! I can drive this car all day long and arrive at my destination fresh. Roadtrips, the miles woosh by silently as the V6 purrs along. That 75 mph, it spins along under 2,000 rpm. It returns mpg at that speed 27-28. The interior does have a lot of hard resting spots but is so full of cubbies and storage bins, who cares, really? Two bins under the floor in back, another huge bin in the cargo area under the floor, another bin under the front passenger seat cushion. Cupholders everywhere, door and console. The rear seats recline and move back and forth for legroom. The third row is just for kids though.

Saved our lives in a rollover

We bought a gently used journey and traveled cross country for Thanksgiving, honestly I didn't love it and hated the weird headrests, although the various compartments were great. Someone clipped us going 90 on the highway and we rolled 5 times, ending up on the roof 165 feet into a field. The side curtain airbags and those behind the front seat headrests saved our lives, we bought another one immediately. We had small children in the back, and we all walked away. Cheap interior, yes, but that car saved our lives so we can celebrate Christmas this year.

Great Ride and Good Economy

After delivering mail for 18 years, mostly out of Mopar minivans, I looked forward to driving a smaller, more efficient car with features I like most: economy, comfort and quality of build. I found all those in my Journey. The only things I've found fault with are 1) the transmission is balky in either the select shift mode or the full automatic mode. It is slow to shift, but very smooth; and 2) the ignition key is VERY VERY fragile. Who's idiotic idea was it to make such a cruddy key that costs over 200 to replace after only 29 months? They really need to re-think the ignition keys with all the needless bells and whistles. Just give me a simple metal key that starts the car!

I have read a lot of Edmunds reviews and I have grown weary of their apparent car snobbishness and demand for perfection. There is no perfect vehicle. For the money I find that my new base model Dodge Journey is comfortable, adequately powered, and very roomy. For those who do not expect the moon and the stars from our ride, I find driving the 2010 Journey to be a pleasant experience that is not overshadowed by glaring defects. The ride is comfortable, and for having a four banger under the hood, it does what needs to be done without blocking traffic. Bottom line, the Journey is a satisfactory family SUV that is easy on the budget and will take where you want to go in relative comfort.

Had an '04 Porsche Cayenne Turbo and just loved it! Thought we'd like a Mercedes - bought an '08 E350 4-Matic. Super car but missed the SUV. Wanted 3 row seats for grandkids, reasonable economy, comfort, conveinence, versatility, etc. Looked at everything out there within reason. Thought the Jouney is the best bang for the buck. The Mazda CX-9 was nice but too big for the wife. This Journey does not disappoint - super quiet, very comfortable, and easy to enter and exit. Would like memory seats/mirrors and a heated steering wheel that we had before but.....all else is excellent. Black R/T AWD, NAV, back-up camera, DVD Player, everything. Best move we made in 46 years of marriage!

RUN FROM 2010 DODGE JOURNEY

I have owned many dodge vehicles over the years, about 20, and I have never had so many problems with any vehicle like I have had with this one. Brake system is terrible. Replaced pads and rotars twice in 10 months. Chrysler aware of brake system problem, unwilling to take responsibility. They made car model knowing it could only take 1 type of tire, no snow tire. Tires run over $220 per tire. There are many recalls. Car can cut off because of the the key fob system can easily slip from on to acc, this is very dangerous, loss of power steering and brakes, and other recalls. Spoke with Chrysler about issues, denial is their best defense. Needless to say, I will not be revisiting dodge.

I've had the Journey 6 months and have put 23,000km on it. It has had no issues, everything has worked perfectly so far. I'm glad we got the 4cyl with gas prices nowadays. My other car is a Chevy Tahoe and the Journey is way better on gas, way smoother ride. It handles bumps extremely well, and when i need to weave in and out of traffic while doing 130km/hr it handles great. I feel confident driving it. The car feels like a more expensive vehicle and I'm sure that's because it was designed by Mercedes while they owned Chrysler.

I had 5 new company cars since 2000, this was by far the worst. Returned to shop 3 times for running on three cylinders (under 1000km), turn the key and nothing happens 3x, odometer reset itself to 0 and 26,000km disappeared, front brakes at 40000km and rear shortly thereafter, turned itself off while driving down the highway, absolutely, completely gutless. Like 1988 k-car style. I put it in park, exited the vehicle, and it started rolling downhill! This happened at the dealership, the mechanic saw it and shook his head! I was in a rental what seemed like monthly. Bluetooth assistant almost NEVER worked, my wife would laugh at me as I punched the radio. Horrible experience. Run!

I bought my 2010 Journey used in 2015 with 45,000 miles. My 1 st problem was buying it from a shady dealer, which I didn't know at the time. Dealer had it more the 1st month than I did. I noticed after driving it a day, the gas gauge wasn't working. Then after I got it back, the rotors were bad. After a year, I had to get a new key...which was $265 at the dealership. I've had to have the oil pan replaced. Water keeps leaking IN my car on my passenger side because the smallest of debris gets down in my a.c. hose and plugs it. It fried my relay switch and a leak in my coolant reservoir had a leak. Now, I have a pin hole in my motor which causes my antifreeze to leak and overheat. (At least, this is my understanding of my newest issue) Needless to say, I'm getting rid of it. If it weren't for all the problems, I'd LOVE this car! I go to greyhound events with my 2 large greys and it's perfect. I even fit 2 kayaks in it. And it hauls my 27' camper.

This vehicle is absolutely amazing. It has an 3rd row of seats so I didn't have to buy a minivan. Plenty of space for all the extra kids I tote along everywhere. The drive and the ride is so smooth. All the extra storage spots are awesome. It is relaxing to drive this crossover. The gas mileage is average but great compared to what I was spending on gas in my Dodge Ram. The kids absolutely love everything in our Journey. So many windows, and not a blind spot anywhere. The 6 disc cd changer is great. There is nothing negative to say about this car. Did I mention that it is beautiful on the outside. What a sleek and sexy crossover!!

I purchased a 2010 in 2015 one owner prior, 52,000 MILES, FIRST MONTH - had to replace the front tie rods drivers side. ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP 62,000 MILES, leaking transmission cooling lines & transaxle coupling etc going out so after one year of ownership its cost me $4,300.00. Worst car I've ever owned in 31 years of driving. It's a nice looking car and the sound system in great but, thats about it. Acceleration is sluggish at best, average MPG in town 17 MPG 20 HWY, interior is low end but that why it's priced low, Seating is not comfortable for longer travel. Hidden Storage is pretty much non existent, Back storage is o.k., good if you fold all rear seats down. Visibility is terrible with the very wide corner post on each side of the front and rear windows.

Coming from a Dodge Grand Caravan, I wish I would have bought another van. The Journey is a great car (79000 trouble free miles,) I just miss the space of a van. I've had no trouble as described by other owners. I do get a very respectable 24 mpg mixed driving everyday. My Journey is AWD, which shows itself in PA winters. The only gripe I have about the Journey is the 3.5 seems a bit underpowered on the highway.

First sign of trouble with my engine was a carbon build up issue at 40K. I took pride in my vehicle and followed the maintenance schedule. They tried to tell me that I had to use higher octane gas when the specs didn't call for that. I did it for a while, but just after my warranty ran out, my EGR Valve went and then my transmission at 120K. Both bearing went in my front wheel. One while under warranty, the other just after. I’m at 170K and because of carbon build up again, my rad reservoir blew and they just replace my cylinder head because their heads are made from aluminum and guess what now?

After reading " Motor Trend " positive expert review and "Yahoo" users group on the Dodge Journey it certainly re-enforced my decision to purchase it. Since I have been extremely satisfied with my reliable 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan it was really a no brainer. At only $21,165 sticker price it was the least costly in it`s class. It`s roomier and has more cargo space than others. The 4 cylinder is no powerhouse but it`s certainly adequate. The ride is quiet, and handling is good. Bottom line is if you want something significantly better you are going to have to pay significantly more. There`s just no free lunch.

I have spent more time at the dealership than I have at home. I think I bought a lemon. I have had so many problems with this car, I have had more Dodges in the past but this will be the last. I think if enough people fill a class action about the vehicle they will have to do something. I am going to see what I can do. I am paying for a electrical piece of crap. Don't know from day to day what is going to be wrong.

I purchased this car after Thanksgiving and in less than a year of ownership I spent over $1200 on the same issue and still not fixed. Dealership doesn't seen to know what is wrong with it, horn honks at random, from time to time it goes dead and wont start, sometimes windows wont roll down or heater for this trip wont work, air pressure alert goes off for no reason.....This SUV has been the worst ....... unreliable, and right down irritating! Dodge is of no help

Let me tell you first what I loved about my Journey. The car was spacious. It was great for travelling with my daughter and her softball gear for games, adding teammates when there were distant away games. It was a comfortable drive. It had a killer sound system which is always good when you have teenagers. What I didn't like started about 4 months after I purchased my 2010 Journey used in March of 2013. I had to have my vehicle towed in because it would not start. It would not click, not turn, nothing. They get it there and it starts right up. They run a diagnostic on it just to check and found that the security system had been triggered within the ignition which is what caused it to not start. They reset the code and I picked it up. 2 months later, it was back in the shop. This time for brakes, pads and rotors for front and back. When I purchased the vehicle, it had about 43,000 miles on. I had put maybe 6000 miles on it at this point. About 15 months later, approximately 14000 miles, I was again replacing pads and rotors. I found out I also had a very shady dealership who was trying to replace things that didn't need replacing. The brakes on this vehicle are CRAP! There is no need to have to replace brakes this often. Also, it is UNHEARD of to have a battery that is inaccessible like this one!! And now the kicker. I am having transmission issues. It is slipping and of course I can't check transmission fluid because there is NO DIPSTICK!!!! Why can I know check routine maintenance on my own without taking to a dealer to have them tell me yes fluid is low???? I will NEVER buy another Dodge again..... EVER!!!

We shopped for vehicles for about a year. The wife did not know what she wanted. We looked at trucks, vans, SUVs and cars. She finally settled on the Dodge Journey, Chevy Equinox and the Ford Fusion. I liked the Fusion more, but she won. The fuel mileage is not the best for in town driving, but for a 6 cylinder is OK. We are still playing with all of the accessories. It is a great car to drive. Just wish we got AWD for the snow we get here.

Traded in my 2004 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 for the Journey and for the first time in more than 30 years am not driving a pickup. With all seats folded, I can easily carry 8' lumber in the car. On the rare occasion I need to haul more, I use a small utility trailer. In the process, I have a smaller, more economical, and more fun to drive vehicle. The AWD shoud get me through the snow this winter. I went to the dealer expecting to buy a Ford Escape, but left with the Journey. I have not been sorry for a moment I bought the Journey instead. My only real problem is keeping my wife from stealing it and leaving me with her 2008 Taurus (which is a great car, but the Journey is more fun).

I puchased my 2010 Journey used. All prior service records were in the vehicle and I was confident that I was buying a dependable vehicle. 2 yrs, 1 month later I have put over $1000 into new brakes, calipers, rotors and axle seal. Estimate as of today is for $3838. New intake manifold, instrument cluster, SKIM module, tune up, transmission flush, & computer update. Just replaced the axle seal. I lose power intermittently in the center console, steering column & doors, slow to shift, sometimes does nothing when attempting to start it, vibrates horribly at high speeds. It is serviced every 3000 miles and issues are addressed promply. Will NEVER buy a Dodge or Chrysler product again!

2009... Dodge has hat in hand looking for help to stay a float.. The Government bails them out.. Being a proud Canadian who loves to support our workers.. I decided to go with the Dodge Journey R/T. Well, with a piece of garbage like that no wonder they needed a bail out. I also hadn't realized this vehicle was assembled in Mexico.. Who knows, someone may have poured tequila in the engine or something as this was a 5 year nightmare. 2 rebuilt engines, new drive train, Hubs, bearings, 4 sets of brakes, problem after problem.. Chrysler would have been in the $40-$50k range in warranty work... Myself, I figure my bills hit the $20k range over 5 years!!!

I have 5800 miles on my Journey. The other day, I was on the interstate, in the left lane with no traffic in front of me. All of a sudden, my engine light and traction control light comes on and the car starts loosing power and shaking violently. The car slowed to 30mph within seconds. I managed to get it to the side of the interstate and had it towed to the dealership. They claim I hit the gas and brake at the same time causing the traction control to lock and the engine light to come on. A mechanic tells me this is not true! Also, my foot won't hit both at the same time. I tried it after they told me. They did say they found a problem with the brake rotors and replaced them.

We love our new Journey! It gets much better fuel economy then any minivan we looked at. And best of all it's not a minivan. More like an SUV that handles like a car. The cargo space is quite exceptional as are how easy it is to lie down all the seats (including the passenger seat) perfectly flat. The third row was a must for us and though it feels a bit tight, it is much roomier than any other third row seat option from any other crossover that we tried out. We've gotten much better fuel economy than it's EPA rating would suggest. The cargo compartments can store items like a cooler for drinks and the interior is quite spacious.

As my wife was driving home she noticed a smoke smell pulled over and the engine compartment was on fire with my 2 year old in the car. Dodge says it's was not their fault but how does a 2009 new car just catch fire. It's impossible to reach any one at Dodge. If you value your life and the life of your family don't buy

I tried the Ford Edge, Chevrolet Equinox, Jeep Compass, and the Ford Escape. The Journey, in our opinion rode better and was a much better buy for the dollar. It has plenty of power with the V6. You have to be careful to avoid spinning the tires. I have owned Dodges before and have found you can't wear them out, you just get tired of looking at them. We have taken it on 2 long trips so far and have really enjoyed driving it. We are getting @19 mpg in town and 26 mpg highway at 75/80 mph.:)

Brakes, front wheel bearings, alternator, key fob x 2, starter, cd / dvd quit working, never fixed it because i was quoted $2000 to rellace, exhaust sensor valve was carbed up replaced, battery wouldn't keep charged, bought new 1, unplugged back flashlight, turned off cooler in dash, etc...still battery issue. Took it to dealer andcorroded electrical, GPS/ hardrive had update done by dealer, GPS quit 1 hour after leaving lot. Hardrive corrupted. Recently it's at dealer again, electrical issues again. I've had enuf! Its outta here.

I have had to have the car repainted due to faulty paint at factory. At 30,000 miles we had to replace front and back rotors and pads. There is a shimmy in the chassis from a newly diagnosed "bad Kumho tire" that only costs $267.00 per tire to repair. Beware! Cannot buy any other tire for the 19" rims other than kumho. This was not disclosed at purchase.

Well ive owned 7 dodges from when i was a teenager i got 70 T/AChallenger. That was a fun car no problems other than what i caused. An 87 Ram 50 new bad engine almost had to lemon law to get Dodge to get it fixed and that was a new motor. Then 2013 Charger sxt had electrical problems from day one traded it back in less than a month on a 2010 Journey nice lookig but has way more problems than i want to deal with. Go to start it next day click click wont start. Wouldnt take a jump wiggled the shifter it started so for a couple of weeks we did that then that didnt work all the time. Took it to tge dealer it wouldnt do it for them so we got it back and drove it for about 2 more weeks until it was just dead wouldnt start no matter what. Looked it up on line told them i want the WIN MODE replaced under recall welk until it did it to them they still fix it so we left it with the dealer for over 2 weeks paying for a rental car. The dealer called said they replaced battery alt, starter, win mode and we gt it back again. 2 days later we are still wiggling the shifter to get it started but it dont work every time. I just got it back again and ts still click no start sometimes. Couldnt use it fir 3 days rented another car. I am having a tough time making a payment on it now since i have to rent cars all the time now. The brakes are very bad car shimmys when applied even had the tlrotors replaced as i was told they were warped but they arent so i cant afford this car any more. The dash is dead nothing happens at all with flashers and esp ect, cruise dont work and it eats tires. I never liked front drive cars and this confirms my reasons why. I had so many missed days off from work and rented so many cars to get to work i actually lost my job with that company. At 59 years old try and get another job in this economy NOT EASY so i say if you buy a Dodge journey you will like me regret it big time. Dodge wont help they just said its a power train issue and your out of warranty. I can tell when someone is reading a script and that person was . I will now apply all my efforts and money to the media so that everyone will see how well Dodge cares about service and helping out the customer. With my big mouth and all my friends and news media will make Dodge pay in one way or another from lack of sales and loss of new and old customers to what ever it takes to get dodge to replace the car with another vehicle that dont have 15 recalls on it. Im just waiting for the day it shuts off while driving like someone i met told me they had happen and dodge knows all about these problems and does nothing about it. It will take a bunch to get me happy with a MOPAR again. Well this is a new issue with the Journey 11/04 /17 Had it towed in as it just quit running. Lost control got it to the side of the road and then had it towed to Garber Chrysler Dodge and had it for repair and it was at the shop for a month they said it was another starter so told them to give me time to get the funds together. They fixed it and 2 weeks later on 8/01/17 I called to get it and they told me that they turned it in for lien against it with my finance company REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE and they repoed the car and I was never ever late on a payment and now it's on my credit report that it's a repo. So this is bad for wanting to buy another car. I am going to hire a Lawyer and go for the law suit as this should be a slam dunk. I can't believe they actually did this to me never being late and now this has dropped my score. Ill get a car paid for and more when this is over. I have talked to 3 different lawyers and they all said this is a easy case for them. So what are they waiting for settel before it coat you way more and they will pay the lawyer. I won't give up.

Great Car That Gets You Places

We Take it on vacay every year and it never gets tired. It can go for hours and hours on the highway without stopping to refuel. The ride is very comfortable for 16 hours of driving. The only problems is that is has frequent brake wear and every once and a while it won't start. Solution: Turn key to on. shift to neutral. turn key off. Turn key to start. voila! Overall this car has great performance, and I would buy one again!

I have the nicest or shall I say the most expensive Journey. My Dodge Journey has been a nightmare. At 10,000 miles I needed new rotors at 11,000 new brake pads and now at 21,000 new rotors again. My computer box is going out, when I start the car nothing works. IO have to turn it off, wait and restart it. The trans mission hums when sitting at a stop light. I can't even back out of my driveway because if I over extend the wheel a tad it makes a very loud grinding noise. I have had some other parts on the turning wheel parts replaced. My car has been in the shop more than I have had it. Then it comes back with the same problems. The visibility is so bad I have a hard time backing up.

Most of the time when this once in a while problem happens its warmed up engine and when I go to turn over the key to start it it will go click, click, click. The sometime will continue each time I try to turn it over. but sometimes it will start right up after a couple of tries. Sometimes a few extra tries but always will start after several attempts. I am afraid one day I will be all out of luck and I will be stuck. DOES ANYONE HAVE A FIX IT FOR THIS?

I wanted an alternative to a minivan and thought I found it in the Dodge Journey. I was very wrong. It's tiny interior doesn't even allow for a space for my compact purse. Cramped and uncomforatble seats. Brakes have had issues since I purchased with premature and uneven wear. Had to replace front and back both at 50K miles. Ignition gets stuck in ACC mode and wont turn to off so when I take key out, it drains battery. Recall work done on that already, but worse since the recall work. Transmission is clunky and always feels like the car is about to shake apart when moving from park to reverse. So very disappointed in this vehicle.

I just bought the Journey because it was the most reasonably priced cross-over out there and I have been nothing but pleasingly surprised at the quality. It is the most quiet ride I have had in any vehicle for a long time. It looks great and is a blast to drive. Only downside is that I can't find any aftermarket wheels to fit. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

I bought this 2010 lemon at Moss Bros in Ca I like that it had a lot of storage and the look of the outside was good. But that is where it stops. It has tiny interor. Uncomforatble seats and the driver seat is making a noise the dealer can't seem to know where it is coming from. Bad brakes they built the front end to heavy for the brakes. So the problem is not fixable. I will have to keep replacing the front brakes as long as I own the car. I have had them replaced at 5,000 13,000 21,000 miles There was a recall on the door locks. That was fixed. There is somethings wrong with the transmission when I go out of park into reverse. It doesn't perform good. The interior is cheap. It's a lemon

Well I bough car used 42,00 miles ran well till it got to 100,00. in 2 months replaced brakes, 02 sensor ,coolant reservoir, fuel pump, several hoses felt like car knew when I got paid. Mechanic told me I needed muffler and I knew it was time to go after 2,500.00 in repairs. Got a new 2017 Nissan Rogue and bank paid off last 5,100.00 owed. Great ride but she was a money pit and grateful I got rid of her , I was scared to drive her. plenty of room. loved her but had to leave her alone.

The 2010 Dodge Journey sxt is the last straw for me. I have owned Dodges in all shapes and forms for 13 years. Neons, (fantastic) Dakotas not so good, Durango 2005 finally sold that last week. Nothing but problems with 2010 Dodge Journey. Owe 2 yrs and transmission is out. Electrical problems with Durango . Very expensive to be a Dodge customer these days. This is the thanks we all get for trying to buy American.

Snow Tires are not available for SXT by any tire manufacturer. The car is a good design and handles the road well. I have driven 45,000 miles on the car, had to change out tires, brakes, rotors and radio along with routine maintenance. The seats are very uncomfortable, the foam is compressed after just 18 months of use.

My wife and I purchased this $30,000 dollar headache, has been in shop 9 times and left us on side the road waiting on a tow. Dodge has only allowed us only one rental, my wife drives an hr to work and has had to buy a $800.00 car so she won't get fired and they have been very rude on the phone. We have had many issues with the journey. We bought a lemon please beware, once they sell them to you they are done they don't care. Thank you, upset in KY.

Sorry for the guy who had a lot of problems on page 1 but i traded my Plymouth Voyager 4-cyl. with 280,000 REAL MILES, got it new (1998) and drove it to death and just wore it out! so i wanted to give dodge another try since i had good luck with my mini-van, so far just 1500 miles on it and i like it a lot, quiet-solid-comfortable and good mileage for a v-6. 24 every day.
