EXCELLENT Vehicle Buy One!
A great car at a great price....a All Wheel Drive vehicle that can seat seven. Have not had any problems
Cheaply made and lots of problems
This car is very cheaply made. We got it at a good price but we have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. It uses oil and water but don't know why.

Don’t buy a Dodge Journey
I have nothing but problems with this car, and would never wish for anyone to buy it. Fobes, Consumer Reports and JD, power all gave a poor rating.

Has potential - but flawed
I've driven this SUV for 4100 miles through all sorts of terrain. Good: Interior storage, comfort, & the value. There are plenty of places to put things, & the seats are comfortable for 6-hour stretches. Bad: Ergonomics, handling, power, & transmission. The controls, especially the stalks, are confusing & illogical, making for dangerous situations in heavy rain or using the cruise. Body roll in emergency maneuvers is scary. The engine has too little power for a V-6 and stumbles on acceleration. Transmission programming is so bad I had to shift manually on most hills. Visibility out the rear window is poor. This SUV has potential, but is dangerously flawed. I don't recommend buying.
This is the worst vehicle
First of all the air bag light should not keep coming on - took it in 8 times and they finally fixed it. Now makes a terrible noise when idling - has cut off on me once and hesitates after cranking. Do not buy this car - I agree an expensive mistake!
Possible Lemon
I bought 2009 Journey in August 2009. Within months, the sun roof leaked and it took several times to fix it. At about 20K the brakes had to be replaced. Dealership replaced at no cost (thankfully). At about 40K the tires had to be replaced (19" tires are very expensive). Driver side passenger door filled up with water because tape was left on the drain holes. Had to have PTU gasket replaced recently. Cruise control looses 5 to 7 mph going up hill before it increases speed. Dealership says this is normal. Transmission has a delay in accelleration. Dealership can't find anything wrong. Currently have 49,000 miles on car. Really like the way it drives and handles but not happy repairs.

Dollar store product
Do not buy used.... this will only cause you grief as you can see from other reviews. There is a reason they are being traded with in the first 5 years. The Battery in under the Front bumper exposed to the elements. You have to take the wheel off to even get to it. Then the tray holding it will completely fall apart. There is known issues with the computer, Clusters and TIPM. We bought used 102 000KM in 2018. Had a few rust spots but had this fixed under the warranty. Now in the shop on and off for the last 4 months trying to figure out why my battery drains. Over 60 days of shop finally found the Horn relay is defective. BUT here is the real issue, I have no problem getting the relay fixed but my Mileage has since zeroed out for no reason and suddenly my Journey had 7KM on it. FCA will not even entertain me in any way and they sound like robots reading from a script about warranty. Now I require a Cluster in order to get my mileage proper, I cannot sell this vehicle, renew my sticker or renew my insurance with out proper mileage reading. (this would be considered fraud if I tried) So at the end of the end of the day I am one Battery tray, 2 battery replacements (the first one went defective as per the dealerhship some how), one TIPM, one Horn Relay and HOURS of shop time. My bill we be over $3000.00 in total at the very least just get this thing on the road again. There is a reason Chrysler is the Economical manufacture cause the repairs are going to KILL YOU LATER

Never again
I bought A 2010 Dodge journey RT awd. When I bought the car it drove really nice shortly after that I had a lot of problems. My car was in the shop More than I drove it. I had to get a new transmission 9 months after purchase. It was still making a loud noise when I got to about 55. So they tried everything to find the problem , Differential, harmonic balancer, Motor mount, control arms, two EGR valve, water pump, timing belt, Tpm, And I had several Other items that had nothing to do with the transmission issue. I got brand new tires because They thought that was the noise. After 6 months of replacing the transmission, im still having the same noise at 55mph. I also had to replace the heater core and the air conditioning compressor. It’s a good thing I bought a warranty.
can't fix the shakes
bought 8/2010-Nov 2010 trouble light going on and off-dealer said no codes on computer-drive it. Light on and off more frequent-then stayed on and vehicle shaking- had to pull over-couldn't find problem so dealer drove-decided it was engine-replaced valves, seals, on right-3 days later started all over again- dealer couldn't find problem-drove with computer on-reprogrammed powertrain module - fine til this week light on shaking violently going down highway(had car 1 yr 2 weeks!) dealer/Chrysler said its the other side of the engine-parts BO till Mid Oct!! on a 1 yr old vehicle! Also turned rotors on back this spring and front rotor/ pads in 7/11. Will be in shop total 2 months since Nov!
One of the best cars I have owned
I'm enjoying my Dodge Journey more than any car (including BMW's) I've owned in quite a few years. I look for reasons just to go somewhere in it. Great car at a great price.
Ever So quiet
very quiet, awd very good in snow, in side good but could better, cup holders badly placed, door panels need improvement, fun to drive.
I love this car!
In November I went car shopping, tried this car & loved it. After I bought it, I read the 2009 reviews & thought what have I done. This vehicle is very roomy & comfortable. The price was right and gas mileage is good. Very quiet & comfortable ride.
Enjoy it More Every Day
I really like this car. Decent power makes it fun to drive and a very practical interior serves my family of five perfectly. With three rows of seats I can keep my teenage daughter and two younger sons peacefully separated. I can also fold down the seats in a variety of configurations satisfying most of my errand run needs. While I've only had this car for just under 3 months and about 3000 miles, there has yet to be a single issue. Build quality is remarkably good for a brand that is often criticized in this regard. There isn't a single buzz, rattle, or squeak. It just feels smooth and solid.
The best Dodge ever
Test drove this beast earlier today. Very comfy suspension, eats up all the imperfections of the road. They borrowed it from Mercedes and I like that. The 3.5 L engine is adequately powered, 6 speed transmission is very smooth. Noise both from the road and the engine is nicely hushed. The instrument panel is new electroluminescent, controls are well laid out. Trunk is huge, third row of seats are useless, so don't take that option. Drives very nicely overall. Was positively surprised. Got a respectable 19 MPG, good for mid-sized SUV/CUV/Wagon.
Best Chrysler Ever
Have driven this car for over 20,000 Miles through last year and feel very happy about it. I am surprised to see such a good Chrysler car.
Good Economical Family Mover
I purchased the Dodge Journey as an alternative to my trusted Chrysler Minivan. On the plus side is the low price tag as opposed to the more expensive cross overs. This vehicle fits the bill for loading cargo with the rear seats folded down or people with the 2nd and 3rd row seats erected. The ride is smooth however, the power is lackluster at best. If all seats are used, the vehicle has virtually nonexistent room for any suitcases. This makes it unsuitable for long trips.
Unhappy in becida
We have had our Dodge Journey 2010 and we started jerking back and forward when you get to about 55/60 mph this started a month we got it . Now it's been three weeks that they have had it and still don't know what is wrong with it. Wish we had kept our van.
stalls in traffic
This car is a p.o.s. Has stalled in oncoming traffic 3 times, brakes are junk. 33,000 miles and chrysler does not car care about the safety of my family or standing by there product. Transmission acts like it is on its way out. I tried to buy an american vehicle, I Knew better than to buy a dodge. $30,000 mistake
DON'T BUY A DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLE
I purchased this Journey SXT AWD in August of 2010 with the Premium Sound Package, and Bluetooth hands free calling option as well. At 3,000 miles there was a violent shake in the front end...the rotors had to be replaced. At 4,000 miles there was an awful whistling noise, which turned out to be the mirror. That was replaced and at the same time I started having problems with the facotry installed options...had the vehicle in 4 times...is now at the dealership for the 5th time for the issue. I've tried to work with Dodge on replacing the vehicle and they've been nothing less than outrageously disrespectful with no concern of customer satisfaction. There has also been a recall.
Never buying a Dodge again
The vehicle computer system needs to be updated and can cost $1500 if you didn’t buy the extended Warranty. Issues with sensor even after dealership replacement. Battery located in driver wheel well. There has been a known issues with the horn sounding on its own with the Dodge Journey since 2009 and no recall. Over all a decent vechile

I enjoy it
Currently have less than 1,000 miles on the car It handles well, accelerates perfectly, drives very smooth. I have took it off road and the AWD is very responsive. Cargo space is excellent if you carry equipment.
3 boosters
I love my new car. We downsized from a 2003 expedition and I really don't miss the extra room. I can fit all three booster seats in the second row. My kids have plenty of room and it is easier to get them buckled in. There is even plenty of room for our Great Dane in the back. Looking forward to camping and canoe trips this spring.
Favorite car I've owned so far.
I was shopping for a mid-size SUV and pretty much looked at what every major car company had to offer in the $25,000 dollar range. I love this car because its style is timeless, not too boxy and not too round. The SXT is also a V6, which is great. I test drove the SE model and found that the V4 wasn't powerful enough for the weight of the car. Test drive them both!
Journey R/T 2WD with all options
Have about 8000 mi on car have had no problems with car except a small squeak in right dashboard . Love all the electronic gadgets an hookups
Silky Smooth, Quiet Ride - Awesome Car!
Just finished first 1,000 miles on this dark blue beauty. Six speed auto is very smooth and the engine is responsive and fuel efficient. Round trip fuel economy for holiday weekend 500 mile trip was 26.8 mpg! We love the two zone temperature controls and six cd sound system.
Another lemon
Had this car six months now. Second time that all electrical power was lost while driving. Very dangerous. Also nothing locks gear handle in place so it is easy to bump it out of drive.
Brakes
I just bought this 2010 Journey SXT with the V-6. At 50 miles the front brakes started vibrating so bad you could feel it in the steering wheel and also the drivers seat started shaking. When you apply the brakes at a normal level, the front end started shaking and it gets worse until you come to a stop. I called the dealer when I got home and am returning the Journey and getting my 2008 Commander back. They will have to undo the deal.
Miss my Pacifica
Traded "05 Pacifica Ltd. and am having regrets. I forgot how much the 'Mercedes' input meant! I like the Journey but am disappointed in interior. The seats are narrow and stiff. May be too many hidden storage units for a 'kids grown' couple. I purchased black leather and it looks and feels like vinyl. Mileage is better but it will take a while to forget the luxury of the Pacifica.
Lost power while driving!
I admit it, we were in love with our Journey. It is comfortable and fun to drive. We have room for the kids and all of their friends. This love affair was crushed today as we were driving down the road and suddenly lost all power (wipers, steering, brakes, lights)we couldn't restart the vehicle while in motion. Luckily we were able to coast off the the side, and could restart after a couple of minutes. We directly drove to the dealer and they seemed to think that I was over- reacting. We are awaiting a repair report. I see that this isn't the first report of this problem on Edmunds (See: Another Lemon by unhappy in NY). There clearly is something wrong. AAAAARRRGH!
my dodge journy
Bought dodge 2010 (new) was good in start, but have had prob in the last month. Engine light has come on twice from no where and wanted to die on me. shakes crazy going down road, have had it at dealer 3 times. now when lights are on , the dashboard goes dim and resets itself. brakes squeek, and the bumper sliding out they have temp fixed. when i accelorate, it kicks in a lower gear and doesn't want to go, and if i stop completely at stop sign, it sputters and act likes it want to die. Been in contact w/ chrysler and so far they are ok, but now i will try and see if they can purchase my car back and offer diff, express my concern to dealer/chrysler. HELP!!
Great vehicle but questionnable reliability
Love this vehicle. Comfortable, quiet, good performance for the type of vehicle, good road manners, good brakes (No issues yet after 26,000 km), well designed. On the dark side, fuel consumption is high. Up to a couple weeks ago, the only issue was the backup camera that goes crazy when temperature is below freezing. A week ago however, the transmission got wrecked for no reason. The vehicle could no longer move. Was like the brakes were always fully applied. Got to the dealer. Transmission had to be replaced. Completely wrecked inside apparently. It was replaced quickly and successfully. Great service from the dealer. But now my confidence link with the vehicle is broken.
Don't buy
I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy. I spent more money trying to fix the car than pay it off after the first month I pretty much had to take it to be fixed once a month. It's just a giant money pit. Get outta dodge!
1 month old, so far, SUPER, We love it
Traded in a 2004 300M, loaded. I have not missed it yet. The options on the Journey we purchased fulfills our most needed feature. Easy entry and exit to the vehicle. We are retired and have leg and knee problems. It was getting very hard to get in and out of the 300M. It sat too low to the ground. We do have 19" wheels on our Journey SXT so it is just the right height to get in and out without having to bend the legs much at all. So Far, we love the ride, looks and quality. My daughter bought a loaded used 2009 Journey R/T the next day after we bought our new one. She loves it. She traded in a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Limited and says she likes the Journey better than she did it.
Travel to Cancun
In march 2010 traveled in Mexico , ags city to Cancun aprox 5000 km in my journey rt 2010 and don't have a problem, excellent travel with my family 5 adults and 2 babies now had a almost 16,000 km and I'm very happy, i live in mexico .
Tin Can
This car is a Tin Can. I wished I had read ALL of the reviews before I purchased it. Bad Brakes, Starting problems, CD player does not work. Have to take off Antenna for radio to work properly. Tire sensor broken. All around failure! Help me Toyota!
