Used 1998 Chrysler Town and Country Consumer Reviews
minivan
Good all around vehicle
Recent problems
88,000 miles evaporator under the dash had to be replaced: $675 92,000 new transmission and axle: $3500 93,000 new computer and other related equipment: $1400 Annually new brakes: $70 Biannually new roters: $100 Until recently this car has been reliable but now it is a drain on my finances. I had a 92 minivan and put in 2 transmissions. I don't think I will buy another chrysler product ever again.
Expensive vehicle horrible reliability
This was a great vehicle till we got over 70,000 miles on. Since have had it in the shop @ least 8 times for electrical/ not starting issues. The shop could never resolve the problem. All the gauges stop working while driving, still drives, but it is scary. They ask a lot for these new and I would never in my life buy another Chrysler product, not to mention some of the deaths related to these vans and Chrysler did not help the deceased family in the least. Steer clear of these. Sounds like a death trap to me. I'll probably have to give mine away because, so far I have NOT found a single dealer or person that will even look at it.
Best car I owned
We have now put 127,000 miles on it and it has been the most reliable vehicle we've ever owned.
What a nice vehicle!
I bought the vehicle on a whim. My wife swore she would never drive a mini-van, so I bought one with 140K miles for $5800.00 (a steal). With the exception of an ABS speed sensor needing replacement 9 months later, the car has needed nothing. The car now has 151K miles and runs like a champ. The wife's Mercedes collects dust in the garage! With 3 kids, it's the ideal luxury family vehicle. She'll never be without an LXI again. In all, the best auto value available, hands down.
