CONS, NOT IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER: 1st gas mileage., on busy streets, around 12 MPG. Best highway 23 MPG. 2nd the AC CIRC mode turns off every time you turn the key off, having to reset it every time you restart the car. 3rd the location and shape of the front roof columns obstruct your view of pedestrians and even some cars VERY DANGEROUS. 4th the shifting. Some times when shifting out of 1st gear it kicks really bad, since brand new. BAD. 5th in case of a flat you have to place the regular tire in the cargo area. Impossible to do when you have luggage in it. This is HORRIBLE. NEW CONS: 6.- The location of the oil drain plug and the oil filter itself are a royal pain for DIY's The filter is a kind of difficult to put back in. When you remove the plug oil will run all over the frame of the vehicle. I now use a piece of plastic to act as a shield to avoid this mess. I saw a new Buick equivalent to the Traverse, and the filter and plug have been relocated and they look good now. I do not know if the Chevrolet engineers have done the same. A)This vehicle has incredible electrical issues that come and go by themselves, some of which have been: 7.- As I went on a trip my sons in law went by my house and found that the brake lights were on. They did not have the key, so they left it like that. When I returned they told me and I found the light out, so I thought that I had a dead battery, but not, the problem had corrected itself. 8.- A day after a heavy rain I went out in the Traverse and everything was normal. I stopped at a parking lot and when I came back the remote would not open the door. I got in with my key and tried to open the door with the switch, but nothing work, like if the battery was dead. Called a tow truck and they tried to jump start it, which I had tried already to no avail, and nothing, so they towed to my home. That night I tried it and it started fine, but no AC. The next morning I started and everything was working fine, except for the rear AC unit, which still is out after three months. 9.- The Service Air Bags light came on, and after a couple of weeks it went out and has not come back on. 10.- There is a fuse box under the glove under the dashboard, on the passenger side that is nearly impossible to work at. Good luck if one of those fuses blow. HORRIBLE LOCATION. B.- 11 The transmission is another problem. If you are driving at a normal speed and have to slow down, when you step back on the gas, many times, it will give you a good kick. PROS I liked the ride and the idea that the leg room in the second of seats can be adjusted to to accommodate passengers in all 3 rows.

Got this after the 2015 Journey

Coming from a 2015 Journey, I can say that overall, I prefer the 2017 Chevy Traverse so far.I have the LT1, which I understand to be the mid range model. Much roomier, wonderfully smooth ride, captains chairs in the middle row bring more comfort for the backseat passengers and also make it easier to access the 3rd row. I feel it has a classier interior with the dual brown/gray color combination. Better fuel economy, much more storage space with both the 3rd row up and down and from the drivers perspective, much more fun to drive as it handles very well and as I said previously, has such a smooth ride. The down side? The infotainment center isn't as up to date and user friendly as the Journey, it won't connect to my iphone 5s so I can't use the texting or pandora features, it doesn't have the auto unlock feature where all the doors unlock when the driver grabs the door handle, it starts with a key instead of a button start which means I have to get used to having my keys out when I leave where before I could just leave them in my purse and my final gripe is that it doesn't have a digital speedometer!! I have had a digital speedometer since my 2012 DodgeCaravan and I am finding it hard adjusting to actually having to read the speedometer instead of just glancing down to see the digital number. I do believe that all of these features I don't like were eliminated with the 2018 Traverse so in 2 years when I turn in my lease, if I were to get another one and those features were upgraded, I would give it 5 starts

Stepped up to something bigger

I traded in my 2010 Equinox since the equinox had started to have some rather costly repairs. So i figured to get something bigger with more space. And that is exactly what I got. Compared to the equinox, the Traverse has en enormous amount of space. Even with the third row up, there is still ample cargo room in the back. That and passengers in the third row can actually sit comfortably and have plenty of head room and leg space. Since this was a bigger vehicle, it did take some time to get use to it. I have a narrow drive way and it took some effort to adjust to a wider car. Aside from that so far the ride is comfortable and acceleration is very nice considering the size of the engine. I thought i would be underwhelmed since the V6 i had in the Equinox made it very quick, and the steering was very precise and responsive. The Traverse is a little more muddy but not too much, i think that i am just feeling the weight a lot more then i did on the Equinox. So I feel the weight a lot more on the turns then i did on the Equinox. But not so much that its an issue. Its more something that i need to get use to. Over all I am happy with the Traverse. Since what i needed was a family SUV with lots pf space for kits and and entertainment option for long trips, the Traverse was exactly what I was looking for. The only thing negative that i can report was that when we fist got the car and took it on the express way, there was a noticeable vibration in the steering. We took it back to the dealer and that was corrected quickly and no fuss. Aside from that we have made some long trips and it has been great. Entertainment system is adequate even though i wish i would have been able to get one with a newer version on Chevy's MyLink. But these are minor grips since so far a really like this SUV.

Handling is very good . Gas mileage is great if you know how to drive on the highway. If the road is level and you are traveling at 65 I have had gas mileage numbers at 25.5-26 mpg. If there are rolling hills then the mileage will be between 23.8 to 24.5 mpg. I traveled from Twin mountain NH on 302 to North Conway NH at 50 mph I averaged 28.8 mpg distance about 29 miles. Adults sitting in the third report that the leg room is a little short. This is due to the second row captains chairs needing to be moved backward to accommodate child car seats, no problem if child seats are not in place. I have had no other issues with this vehicle. I still will give it 5 stars. It is now 2 years with the vehicle. Still no issues. no warranty work needed. current mileage 15880. No rattles. I still think this is a great vehicle. Would have no reservations about buying another traverse.

I've always been a Ford guy so impressing me is hard with the way most GM products work. This thing packs a pretty decent bang for buck as we tested an explorer, Santa fe, and pathfinder. If the deal would have gone right we'd honestly have the pathfinder as that had the most overall refined feel and features for the price. As the dealership that had it was horrible we found the traverse as a happy medium with the lt2 package. Sound from the radio is amazing and between that and the quiet cabin it really drowns out the subpar engine as it winds up to use every ounce of power it has to get moving. I'm not kidding when I say this thing lacks power... it's really bad and I find myself 2nd guessing myself passing quite a bit. Inside the cabin is quite roomy with a couple quirks that don't ruin your experience. For instance, when you turn the car off with Bluetooth audio on you'd expect it to be the first thing that comes up when you get back in the vehicle. This isn't the case at all and it's slightly annoying. Also the cup holders in the middle part of the cabin are right on the door (w/captains chairs). Not sure if the bench is the same but this is a disaster with children slamming doors on road trips. Last thing is the auto windows. They're only auto down... not up. Not sure who thought of this but having to roll this thing up and down 5 days a week to show an ID at a gate makes this very irritating. It really seems small but makes a huge difference. Other than that features on this are very good and it seems very well put together and kid proof. Cargo space is very lacking with all seats up but if you can fold a seat this really opens up the area. If you can't I'd suggest a full size SUV and not a crossover. Visibility out of the front and behind you is adequate but there is a huge blind spot on the vehicle thats caused me to buy bubble mirrors. Gas mileage is about the same as our old F150 with low 20s for mixed driving so we can afford it. Others may find this bad and I'd agree and suggest the fix is an engine that won't work as hard to get this thing moving (drive the explorer with the ecoboostto see what I mean). The vehicle handles turns and bumps extremely well with what you'd expect from this body style of car with the standard dead feel in the wheel. So far there are very few manufactures that can really put feel into their cars and give then soul so this isn't a killer for me. Over all we like it and we're pleased with the purchase and look forward to having this thing for some time. Update 2018Feb21: As winter really set in up in ND we found our heat was having issues and would not blow hot air all the time so we called the dealer to arrange fixing (not a big deal these things happen. I can accept that). After the service counter hears my problem they then ask me if my car is throwing a code or running funny so i let them know everything is normal except the heat. After this im informed that as my car was not running funny or throwing a code they would not fix it under warranty but i could pay to have it fixed... Is this not why a manufacturer warranty exists on a vehicle? I fought for a couple days with them as in ND during the winter it is dangerous to not have heat and talked to the dealer i purchased it from gently used. They more than willingly made a deal on another car (that they can fix (hyundai)) and got us out of the vehicle so as to avoid have us pulling our hair out over a grey area. A vehicle is only as good as the warranty the manufacturer is willing to service it under and if they cant honor that then they dont deserve to have me represent their brand. Because of this situation i find it very doubtful i will ever buy a chevy again as it left a hole in my wallet and a sour taste in my mouth. Yes i could have paid to have it fixed but what happens when the same thing happens another 10k miles down the road or something else comes up the warranty will not honor? I refuse to leave any boxes unchecked and will not have my family suffer because they cant do something they should be expected to. Decent vehicle overall but do homework on warrantied items and whether your dealer will honor them before representing a brand u could regret down the road.

I never had the first issue with my 2010 Traverse but i have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. Within 48 hrs had in back at the dealer ship because we could not get the windshield wipers to turn off. After 4 times of this happening and taking to dealership and they claim "nothing was wrong with it" my husband figured out the relay was not completely inserted. He removed and reinserted and no problem since. Now I have had a problem with the banner on the radio no working or should i say "displaying" correctly and all hands free options do not work. Was told after taking back now for the 8th time that per the service department supervisor that the "Tech guy" at the dealer ship spoke with GM and was told this was an on going issue and they were aware and "no fix" available at this time!! THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE WHEN YOU PURCHASE A 50K vehicle. Not sure I will ever buy another GM product!!!

We love the roominess of the vehicle but a few small annoyances. 1) Cannot adjust the rear tailgate to 3/4 position. 2) No digital speedometer.3) Rear windshield wiper cannot be set to constant...only intermittent. Our previous and less expensive Equinox had all of those features.

With leather seats that both heat up and cool down, no matter what time of year you drive it, the Premier will have everything you need. I love the fact that it has 3 rows of comfortable seating. The back 2 rows fold down for sleeping in the back if you are camping out during your road trip. The captain's chairs are wide and extremely comfortable. Love it!

Had my 2015 Town and Country in the shop and had to rent a vehicle for the week. Closest thing they had that was similar in size was the 2017 LT Chevy Traverse. The vehicle has TONS of room, and overall was a very smooth and comfortable ride. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the acceleration. If buying one, I would go into the purchase decision knowing that I am buying it for safety and cargo capacity, not acceleration. With nearly 300 HP, it accelerates just fine. No, you won't blow a sports car away, but it will handle basic driving tasks just fine (i.e., city driving and passing on the highway). That said, the vehicle falls very short in terms of modern technology, as well as some basic amenities most family oriented vehicles seem to have. The center console seems intrusive and not really functional. The cargo door does not automatically raise or lower itself, and there doesn't seem to be a way to control this from the driver's seat either. The center entertainment console looks like it is a 1st generation console; possibly from the early 2000s. The gauge cluster gives you trip information and mileage, that's it. No distance-to-empty, which even our 2011 Sonata (base model) has. The rear view camera seems a bit slow to respond, but works okay. Climate control seems lacking, though is very effective. For example, there are climate control knobs for rear passengers, but if they're kids (in our case), they can't reach them. In our mini-van they can reach them fine. No dual-zone controls for the driver / passenger either. With that said, the air-conditioning and heating works excellent. Overall, I can't imagine anyone buying this SUV unless they were only concerned with cargo capacity. Unless you step up to the Premier level, the vehicle is simply out-classed by competitors (my opinion).

Unless you want to pay an additional 4,500 for a new transmission I suggest you run to ford, Toyota or Honda fast! I loved this car initially but after new brakes front and back, new water pump, new alternator and now the topper a new transmission! This is not a family car it is a money pit. Oh and don’t count on the dealer or chevy to help- they will just go back and forth with you for a month to result in nothing!

Not exactly sure the trim as it was a rental which had 20k miles. Vehicle drove and handled ok but saying it is week kneed passing another vehicle is giving it more credit than it deserves; everyone riding in the vehicle laughed at how loud engine got while flooring gas pedal but took a long long long time to pass a car in a 45 zone in moderate traffic where quickness is sometimes needed to maneuver around vehicles. I would most definitely recommend test drive with acceleration test b4 purchasing this rig instead of going off the clearly misguided review that I also laughed at. Also, poor gas millage even when not driving with a lead foot.

Great vehicle in the class. Other brands feel a bit more upscale in materials for the interior yet the Traverse interior doesn't seem cheap. We have the technology package and the wifi hotspot was helpful in some situations during the trial period, but not worth the monthly fee. The 20inch tires, 2nd row captains chairs and heated driver & passenger seats made it worth while. When 3rd row is in use the cargo area becomes miniscule. Overnight bags for six will block your view out the back and give you the liftgate open light 8 times out of 10. Ride quality lands right in the middle. Responsive for a large mid-sized SUV. The ride in an Explorer feels more luxurious as well as GMC sister.

The 2017 traverse was great off the lot however In only a few years serious issues with exhaust popped up. Electrical issues with windows including corrosion in electrical connections ( all dry no water). Failure of back up camera and wiring. Running rough. Build quality is the issue with these sadly. AWD system was great no complaints as it performed beautifully in snow. Would not recommend owning past 150,000km

I just sold my 2017 Traverse LT with 103,000 miles. I had an AC issue at about 37,000 miles, was not covered by warranty. Other than that it was trouble free to 103k miles. No rattles and solid feel after almost 8 years. Cloth seats very durable, although some passengers don’t love the headrest positioning. Towed a 3500lb boat set up very well. Overall, very good value and decent fuel economy for such a large SUV. Excellent highway machine, extremely smooth ride.

Stereo stays on when car door opens

I have a 2017 Traverse with 24000 miles. When I turn the car off and open the driver door, the stereo stays on. This is fixable, however, it will cost about $600-$1000 to fix.

Don't buy a Chevy

I purchased my 2017 new. I have had issues with it from day one. The dealer has dismissed me like I am a stupid woman. I have had to get my father to take it in and he is treated much differently. They car is huge and I like that. The outside and look is nice. The inside is roomy. The gas mileage is terrible. The light dimmer doesn't always light up so you can be driving for some time with no lights on and the dealer will claim it is you.

Poor Quality Backup Camera

The quality on the backup Camera is so poor it's useless. There are so many things I do not like about the vehicle, but mainly the stereo and backup technology are so far behind my Mazda CX-9 that I regret the purchase.

. I have owned the Traverse for about three years and still find that it is a smooth riding and fairly quiet car. I have had no problems the room inside is fantastic. I load my 12 speed bike and my grandsons 20" bike in the back with no problem when we go riding. I'm 6'4" and leg room is one of the main reasons I went with the Chevy Traverse. I ride comfortably and there is still room for people to sit behind me. I traded an equinox, and find the ride and overall interior more comfortable. The engine has very good power.

Have issues losing power, traction control need services, if shut vehicle off and let set for a few will run ok. Dealer says unless doing it when i bring it in they cant tell what is wrong. Only had 49,000 miles. So much for it lasting 250,00 miles.

Love driving my Traverse. It is a wonderful highway cruiser and if you slow down a little and drive with the trucks you can average 25-27 MPG for the trip. It’s quiet and handles great!
