I love my Suburban
I have always been a Ford Truck guy , Pick Up truck and Excursion , and then I wonder into Ourisman Chevy in Baltimore and Took out a Suburban for a Nice Test Drive , I was impress with style and Interior of Model I took out , Told salesman that i needed a little more then a trip around the block , so We took a nice Ride . So I came back told them i see them in a week and went Home , Got on Chevy Site and Built my Suburban , I went for the Premier , and got Everything i wanted and back to Dealer No Hassle sat and built and order , I have had my Suburban since November I thought I put about 15000 miles a year on it , Here we are almost easter I just had my second oil change at dealer and over 14000 miles , so that 15000 is out the window , The Comfort of Suburban is great and ease of getting in and out for passengers in Front or 2nd row is easy I doubt i ever need the 3rd but i am sure it be fine , handling is awesome , Just did a trip to charleston sc it 562 miles from Balt to downtown , Mileage is great on road , I have bump avg of 22 letting cruise control do most of the work . just running 5 mph over speed limit , The GPS is great and and various safety control help keep you in your lane and aware , But great thing is taking a few breaks on the trip arrive in Charleston not feeling like i had did 562 miles . Not Stiff or Tired I enjoyed the ride , and with GPS I was warned of a Traffic Issue and It took me around it , So as I looked over at 95 south and North Sitting still , I just eased by on 301 because of Technology at it best . Oct 2020 , 38,900 miles on my Suburban , I am very happy with it , I think i get great fuel mileage on road i am 21.plus per gallon that using the cruise control , most times on highway , my dealer ourisman at security blvd baltimore giving me great service , I have had one issue engine light came on it was a fuel injector that happen about 20,000 . i think i get 50,000 miles out of my tires , I still have good tread and wearing even So if your looking for a great SUV , I would recommend , I know that in couple years i trade in get another Here we Are April 2022, If Covid had not happen i probably have 100,000 miles BUT bumping 74,000 , If or when I replace my Suburban it be another Suburban , Ride is great I can not complain about Fuel mileage on Road it 21.plus mpg I think only thing i would Change is Captain seats in second Row , that away passenger can recline if they want and may give them little more space to move around , I am glad that New Suburban have air ride , and Diesel , that would be my other 2 option , Great Service at Ourisman Security Blvd , Baltimore

I hate Chevy for making me want this
Rented a beach house for a family reunion. There will be some flying in, so I needed more room for passengers and bags than my Acura MDX has, in order to get everyone around. I rented the Suburban just because of its size. I can't tell you how surprised I was. I've been a Honda/Acura man for over a decade and was firmly under the opinion that U.S. cars just couldn't compete. My middle boy used to have a Chevy Silverado so I should have known better. The interior detailing and options were every bit as good as my Acura and the interior space is enormous. I have been accustomed to overstated MPG over the years so I figured this monster would get far less than my MDX. Wrong. It states 16 to 23, but I've been getting from 17.3 to 24.4. I've never gotten more than the stated MPG, I would be happy if my MDX just got it's stated MPG. I'm just renting this beast for a couple of weeks so I can't validate the long-term life, maintenance requirements, and upkeep cost, but if it's anything like the Silverado, it's well made. What I can attest too though is the comfort, response, cabin design and quality of the vehicle. Like I said, I was/am very impressed. I've seen a lot or reviews, here and on other sites that mark it down for how hard it is to park and navigate through tight spaces. It's NINE passenger SUV. If you want the space, it has to be big. I haven't really found it that much more difficult to navigate than my MDX, (Except for the turning radius) My MDX will hold 6, cramped with next to no luggage space. This Suburban holds 7 in comfort and has as much additional space as my MDX with the back bench seat down. The technology was easy to use, my phone synced up easily and everything is extremely comfortable and well thought out. I don't regularly need this much space, but if I did......This is the car/beast I would get. It does what it is designed for extraordinarily well. It's not a minivan or a small SUB. Oh, and it gets roughly the same MPG as my MDX which is a midsized SUV. Still don't understand that.

My original update is below and here my updated one from 2022. The cylinder deactivation system on the 5.3l engine is poorly designed or has inferior materials. For me this resulted in a stuck lifter and a bent pushrod. Upon further research online this is quite common and requires head removal. I've always given GM another chance over the years, but this was the last one. I picked this up to move my family interstate to visit relatives. I sometimes drive and sometimes fly. Usually myself and one of my kids. When the whole family and dogs wanted to go I was stuck without a suitable vehicle. I used Turo and rented a standard Escalade last year. I liked the luxury, but it was still too small. Most of the gadgets were a bit over the top and not needed IMO. So I had been eyeballing the Suburban or Yukon XL. I'm glad I did. It's essentially a personal limo to drive around in comfort. Super good seats and very quiet. Ride is good. The new engines are game changers with good power even with the 5.3l and impressive fuel economy compared to models of the past. Pull the seats up and you have a long bed enclosed pickup truck. With the length being a city block, the backup camera is a game changer as well. It would be impossible to maneuver in confidence without it. Mine is a 4x4 and I have owned several to go to my hunting camp. I haven't tried this one yet though but with the fascias and no low range it's probably best for sandy roads and not true offroad. It's the ultimate all purpose interstate travel and around town utility vehicle. I'm very happy with it.

We are in Suburban Heaven!!
We went back and forth between a Toyota Sienna and Chevy Suburban for a year and a half. We had driven a Sienna and were so close, like driving to purchase, before I actually test drove the 2018 Suburban. One mile into the test drive, I was in love!! I was sure I would not be able to comfortably park this huge vehicle, but I pulled in between two cars as well as well as our Tailblazer. This thing lets me know if something is close by vibrating my chair on the side of the hazard! The leather, the 2nd row captains chairs, bluray with 3 screens and Bluetooth headsets, Android Auto, rear camera, etc. Is Amazing!! If I veer out of a lane it puts me back in it!! Bravo, Chevy! This is best vehicle we have ever owned!! Highly recommend!!! Go test drive one!!

meant to work and drive not to park
We purchased the 2018 Suburban Premier to replace my 2005 (one-owner) LT Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Duramax. I commute daily 60 miles so my reluctance was adding quick mileage to a new vehicle. The Suburban is awesome. We own a 31 ‘Airstream trailer and this will be the fifth tow vehicle, with three being Suburban’s, one 1996 GMC, the Duramax and a 2002 2500 Avalanche (8.1). All had over 150,000 miles one them, with the Silverado going to 225,000. This 2018 Suburban is one of the safest vehicles we’ve driven. I read the comments about the MB, and the Toyota Sequoia’s which are great vehicles. My challenge was having a dealer that was consistent with quality care. The MB, is one of the best vehicles on the market, but maintenance is priority with them, and having lived in both Germany and the DC area where service is common, once you get out of that type of care, it is hard to compare. If you plan on keeping a vehicle for 10 plus years, putting over 200k in mileage on it or even passing it off to the next generation, this is well worth the investment. The technology with WiFi, Onstar and just comfort when you drive allows you to have a portable office. The mileage is easily 22-24 on the road and if I keep it at 65-70 MPH, I can get a range of almost 725 miles to the tank. Safety with the sensors and alerts, LED lights and automatic wipers are a plus for highway driving. The ability to sit high and away from any impact in this vehicle is worth your life with today's distracted driver on the road. For planning this is excellent when traveling around cities to the North or needing to get to Florida in the South. During foul weather like Hurricane season, a full tank will go 10 days, and the WiFi allows network access, when internet is down, even with a back-up generator in the house. Its all about planning, livelihood and this vehicle fills the void for other things than just trying to find a place to park it, as it was meant to work and drive. Update-Suburban is an awesome vehicle. I have incurred more miles in a daily commute and trips to Tampa and Baltimore than I would have liked, however, we are so, so glad we have the Suburban to drive. When highway driving, we have average 23 MPG, with a range of over 700 miles to the tank. This fuel range is excellent when sitting in traffic or wanting to fuel up at a full service center. Storage when traveling for luggage is so convenient being able to load multiple suitcases and coolers. Dealer support is excellent with accessories to make the traveling very comfortable. Great vehicle with no regrets and would most likely buy another one passing this one off.

2018 suburban waste of money
Leased this car less then a year ago put down 12k because I planned on purchasing at the end of my lease, but now I will not be doing that and will be filing a formal complaint with chevy. After a month of leasing my AC went out in June! My car was in for repair for two months for this! And I have two little babies and I was given a tiny Chevy to drive in the meantime which was horrible. Then the window seal on the drive door broke, once again car was in for two weeks while they ordered the part. Next, passenger visor broke just from opening it, once again in for repair. Now today the driver visor broke! I don’t know what is going on with this suv but this is just so upsetting. Also my back up camera lines always disappear and Chevy says because they can’t recreate the problem they can’t fix it. This is a 65k vehicle and leased less then a year and already more problems then I have ever had with another vehicle over a 10 year period.

2018 Premier is my 4th Suburban!
This vehicle is built to travel, haul, work, and move more than your average sized group of people. It is incredible on the highway as well as in town. Yes, if you are accustomed to a small vehicle, you will initially have a hard time parking and working your way through traffic. Once you get accustomed to your Suburban's size, you will love all the extras the greater capacity affords you. Being one of the largest consumer vehicles on the road, fuel economy is not great, but the trade off is well worth it. Comfort when traveling cannot be beat. Plenty of room and entertainment for everyone on board. The seating is firm and comfortable. You feel safe in a Suburban due to the vehicle size and the fact that you are not looking up to every vehicle you pass. All of my Suburbans have been super reliable. Very few mechanical issues...and I have driven all of them over 150,000 miles. If you are towing, the Suburban is for you. While a diesel 3/4 ton truck may do a better job for extra heavy loads, most boats, etc will be right at home behind your Suburban. Update 2/12/24 139,000 miles: as with any machine some components fail overtime. Unfortunately, we just had to replace the transmission at 130,000 miles. This particular model has a few more rattles and other signs of aging than my previous Suburban lower build quality ? I’m not sure. Will I buy another Suburban in the future? Yes.

Denali XL without the price tag!
We recently purchased a 19' Suburban Premier Plus with the 6.2L V8. It's unbelievable! It's by far the most comfortable vehicle we've owned and is very nimble for it's size. If you are looking at a Denali XL or Escalade, look here first. It's the same vehicle with the same options for much less. Thank you Chevy for looking out for the middle class!

Once you go Suburban you'll never go back
Loved my 2017 so much we got a 2018. 7 people and their luggage on a five-hour trip to the beach and nobody complained. Dual DVD players was a hit.

Comfortable and powerful car
This car is the best suburban I owned. This Is my 3rd suburban and I was impressed by the technology on the car. The engine and transmission are still the older fashioned transmission and v8 but they work! Definitely recommend you get the premier with magnetic ride.
Nicest vehicle we have ever had!
Plenty of room for three kids and two Newfoundlands. We wanted the second row bench and are so happy we got it. My wife owned a 2004 Yukon XL before we bought this and the smile on her face makes the price for th LT worth every penny!

Love my suburban
From sports cars to a Suburban is a huge jump but I honestly love my Suburban; it’s my dog car. It rides like a Cadillac, has lots of room, doesn’t go in the shop constantly for expensive repairs, holds 6 adults very comfortably- even on long trips, plenty of space for luggage and kids stuff. Most of all it’s practically maintenance free. I have it serviced regularly and with over 200’000 miles, it’s an awesome vehicle.

It’s like driving a beautiful spaceship
I feel like a 50,000 price tag should get you some more featurs like standard power lift gate and standard auto charge port on the center console but I have never loved a car so much in my life.

This SUV lacks nothing! The emblem is something many buyers pay for, but this vehicle offers all of the power, sport and luxury options without the ostentatious emblem. We are still searching for a forgotten option or want but I think Chevy has it covered :)

Do Not Buy the 2018 Suburban Transmission Problems
Warning ... do not purchase a used 2018 Suburban. The GM transmissions have catastrophic problems. I just replaced the transmission in this Suburban for $6,000.00 ... complete failure. Look around on line and you will see the issues related to this vehicle. The Suburban I own has just under 100K miles and has never pulled a trailer. Broke down when I was 300 miles from home with no warning. On Star didn't even catch it until it had already broken down. Had to pay an additional $500 for transportation to return the vehicle to my hometown. Was without the suv for 30 days. It is my understanding that the Suburban, Tahoe, Silverado 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL and Sierra 1500 all have the same transmissions. Stay away from these vehicles.

Whoever Designed This Clearly Never Drove It...
Its been a while since I took a ride in a suburban. But what I do recall is plenty of passenger room. That was maybe 10 years ago. Move along to the 2018 model and my god - what did they do to this thing? Its an ergonomic nightmare. First off - simply getting in and our of this tank is extremely awkward and cumbersome. Once you get into the driver or passenger seat, its more of less what you'd expect in terms of comfort. However, if you sit in the middle or 3rd row - good luck. Not only does the middle row of seats not slide forward to adjust on a rail (like most other vehicles it compares against) - the space you get is quite cramped. There is more room in the third row of many SMALLER Japanese SUVs than is in this beast. Yes - there's a ton of cargo room - but if you are looking at this to be the family hauler - and you have teens - look elsewhere. Next up - the engineering of this car is just all wrong. Not only is the space not effectively utilized, the entire front dash is just wrong. All the displays/devices/buttons are oriented straight up. What this means is - even when adjusting the steering wheel to the max up position - you can't read the speedometer - instead you have to rely on the digital screen in the center to tell you your speed. Ok - but the problem with this is - it significantly lags reality. As does the digital display in general for basic operations such as shifting the car into a different gear. The version I had lacked an item that should be required on vehicles of this size in this day and age - proximity sensors and blind spot sensors. Thankfully when you're driving the largest car on the road, people generally get out of your way. But at least I now know why people who drive these on the roads seem like such inconsiderate drivers - they're difficult to see out of w/o having to turn around and look over your shoulder (which is extremely dangerous). Finally - the ride on this thing is super bouncy. The springs/struts need to be tighter on this. Gas milage is horrible - as expected - but the massive gas tank gives you the illusion of ok milage due to the long projected ranges of up near 700miles. All this means is you fill up once every two weeks vs one to get effectively the same range you would otherwise in competing vehicles. 19mpg combined is not acceptable in this day and age. The accelerator is very loose and requires a lead foot to get the thing to move at all after a dead stop. Bottom line - you can do so much better at this price point in almost any other brand. I'm shocked this is such a popular vehicle as it is. It shows me the very sad state of American car engineering.

HATE Navigation system.
So, overall love my new Suburban. 20 to 26 mpg not towing, 10 to 15 mpg towing. HOWEVER: navigation sucks. Dodge has them beat 100 times over. Chevy navigation is only through your smart phone. NO stand alone features. You have to pull up map on your phone, select directions and hit start BEFORE hooking up USB port to phone for chevy screen. THEN you have to go into Chevys program to activate the map on the screen. BUT: once there you cant change to a new place of directions until you go back and disconnect your USB and go through all the steps again. You CANT do it through the touch screen and because Chevy takes over your phone, you CANT make changes to your phone either while connected via USB. PLUS, if you dont have unlimited data phone plan, youll use data on your phone, issue when doing a series og long trips. pLUS watch your phone, it gets hot is used for too long. HATE the navigation system.

More money less power
So disappointed. At 18 my very first tattoo was a Chevy bow tie on my left arm. I’ve always driven Chevy vehicles. Never been disappointed.. until now. I recently sold my 2011 Suburban with 210k miles with no mechanical issues as well as my lifted 2007 Duramax LBZ . I thought it was time for a nice upgrade. I purchased a 2018 Suburban LT with 54k miles, purchased the extended warranty. The car has every single option you can get. Within 3 weeks we sent it back to the dealer to be looked at for a shake and ended up replacing the torque converter. We had it back for a week, used it to pull a tandem axel trailer and it struggled. We had the dealer look again and they can’t find anything. It’s as though it doesn’t have enough power to tow much of anything. The dealer assured us the transmission and transfer case were fine. My 2011 had way more power than this. I totally regret selling it and am so bummed that the direction Chevy took was to add fancy buttons and take away the power to the motor. I have 4 kids and tow a camper regularly and this car is just not going to cut it. We’re looking at trading it in for a Ford F-350 which is something I never thought I’d consider..

Why would anyone buy one of these monsters?
Rented a car for a day since my Mercedes E350 was getting serviced. Car rental had only a Suburban available. Pros: Suburban seems to have high towing capacity. Engine is smooth and has lots of low end torque. Cons: The car is enormous and even on the highway I was always afraid to hit another vehicle. Parking or maneuvering is a nightmare. Visibility from car is very poor. Truck based design makes sure you feel even minor imperfections of the road while you also have this monster constantly floating on the highway and you never really feel planted. Poor fit and finish with cheap plastic parts (though admittedly way better than Chevys from 10 years ago). Door lock of right front passenger door feels like it’s giving out in a car with only 8k miles. Fuel economy nothing to brag about. Poor ergonomics (no telescoping steering wheel, all sorts of instruments that aren’t relevant, oddly far distance between gas pedal and break pedal which creates a delay in making stops), weak brakes that are not confidence inspiring. $50k for a Chevy?! Can’t say how glad I was to have my Mercedes back. All of a sudden the E350 felt a sports car. I guess if you had 5 kids to shlep around and also need to tow a boat every weekend and plan to sleep/live in the car and/or want to feel like in the Presidents motorcade, maybe this car would be worth considering.
No Telescopic steering wheel?
Looking to purchase an American SUV vs. the Toyota Highlander I have had for the last 5 years. I can't believe a 2018 Suburban LS 4WD for well over $50,000 does not have telescopic steering wheel. I am 6' 1" and the driving dynamics suck without having the wheel come further back. Cars less than half this price have this feature. I know the 2018 Highlander Limited is not the same type of vehicle but it has pretty much every feature the top of the line Suburban has for more than 20K less than the Suburban LTZ

Anybody have a tranny I can borrow?
This is a beautiful car to the eye and the reason I purchased one used with 15000 miles in 2018. The transmission went out with a little over 69000 miles on it - just over the warranty. The replacement transmission had issues from the start and was not 100% healthy. It is now in the shop at 98000 miles getting the transmission rebuilt again. Before that there were problems with the brake assist, hood sensor, brakes, and trailer system. Very expensive to maintain and OnStar is no help. Going back to more reliable brands for my next purchase.

AN EXPENSIVE UNRELIABLE VEHICLE
Purchased 2019 Suburban LT 4 wheel drive with all the bells and whistles. Less than a year of driving and battery suddenly died leaving us stranded on the road in the Florida heat during summer. During the second year, noises in the front breaks took many visits to service and some extra dollars to solve problem (including changing front brakes in such a short time) and finally last week on the vehicle's third year, starter failed and it had to get fixed with a $730 bill. Can't say anything positive about gas mileage either but that wasn't a surprise. I am getting ready to trade it with any other brand as soon as inventory is available.
