Don't buy this car

My Malibu is best described as the Mobile Money Pit. I keep having to invest more money into this car. It is a nightmare to own. It is an okay car when it does run properly, which is not often. Save your money and invest in a Honda or Toyota.

Malibu

As for me, I just purchased my Malibu a month ago from the one and only owner. Great price and so far it has treated me good. We took it on a 300 mile ski trip this past weekend in the snow and it handled very well. The previous owner said they had to replace the fuel pump at 35k and the air conditioner not long after purchasing it. I hope and pray it will continue to treat me good!

Disappointment

When first purchased, the Malibu seemed to be an okay car. After 20,000 miles, the brakes went and had to be replaced. The cassette player never worked properly even after being replaced. Then for a while everything was normal, but now with 77,000 miles on the car, the ABS and brake lights have come on. I am told that the problem is in the "modulator" and will take approximately $1,000 to repair -- time to trade but never for another malibu!

Nit picked to death

Bought for step daughter at 120k, now with 175k. Drive train held up till about 170 with no issues, then head gasket went and tranny that you can not service, had to be replaced. I did not mind those due to mileage but the rest of the vehicle a disaster, abs, ignition, passlock, heater control, ABS sensors and more, majority items where maintenance can not be done.

Money Pit!

Have to keep pouring money into this car although it has only 60,000 miles and is taken to a Chevy dealer for repairs. Tires, battery, alternator, ABS, steering column all worked on or replaced! AC switch doesn't work right and brakes squeak. I can't trade the car in fast in enough for a foreigh car-- the Malibu is stalling now and will be taken in again for repairs! This car is too expensive for me and causes to much stress.
