Great College Vehicle
The Malibu Maxx came out of no where while searching car lots, oddly enough it had every feature I wanted and for a very reasonable price. Don't believe the in-dash MPG rating, instead calculate it out yourself. I've found the computer is off by a large margin, including waiting at a light in the MPG calculation. I average (with city and highway) around 26-28 MPG. Great car for a college student like myself or a family just starting out.
Good Car
I have been driving Saabs for 20 years. The Maxx is on a Saab platform. Fit and finish not as good but engine has more pep. I like the hatchback. Price is right. Seats good.

Feeling mixed about the Maxx
I fell for this car when I found it in the used section of the dealership over a year ago. The XM radio, the wood trim (although it's fake), the zippy way it drives, the dvd player, the two sun roofs... all so neat! But the Maxx has been plagued with problems - mainly electrical. And I have been driving for 10 years with no problems with blowing out the tires, but I have gone through 4 different tires on this car apparently due to my driving (I was driving trucks before). I'm not sure that I would buy this car again. I think I would go for a Honda or Toyota (sorry Detorit).
GM Sales Consultant Owned
I recommend the Maxx LTZ to anyone who loves functional space and long trip comfort. I average 24 mpg city and 30 on the Highway and have exceeded 34 mpg on some trips. A Large Size Pet Porter fits in the cargo area for hauling my 100 lb. labrador. A great amount of features for the money. As a performace oriented person, the LTZ is sufficient but I would love to try the SS on my next lease, as long as they add heated seats and auto dimming mirror options!
Chevy Maxx
Fun to drive, fuel efficient car, good acceleration, comfortable to have four adults over 6 feet to travel long distances. Doors can be opened very wide (almost 90 degrees to the body of the car) allowing exceptional access to the car. The design of the car allows for considerable features for price of the car. The styling of this car is for those who want be a little different and have all the comforts storage and handeling. It is nice for us in cooler climates to have the block heater and remote starter.
LTZ MAX
We went to the dealer with the intention of buying an Impala. The salesman suggested that we take a look at the Max. We found that with 2 young children that it would probably be a good car for us with the windows above the rear seats and the rear dvd system. The kids love it and so do we. We definitely would suggest at least getting an LTZ model. The bigger wheels and chrome accents really add to the looks. We like it more and more. We commute about sixty plus miles per day a combination of highway and city driving and have averaged 28mpg and on our trip highway was 34ish.
This is the Best Car Ever
This car is very roomy and has lots of different things to try out. Everyone should experience a Malibu Maxx. There is a lot of leg room for tall people and the comfort is just like if you were at home relaxing in your favorite chair.
Like it but...
I love the way it handles, and the way it looks. Not too many cars look the same. The only problem I have is that I can't get even 18.5 MPG when everyone here is claiming 22--26 or so.
This is a terrific mid-sized car!
Ive owned my Maxx for two months and love it. I had to replace my 270,000 mi. BMW 318is commuter car and needed great gas mileage and four doors. I looked at Vibes and Mazda 3 wagons but liked the Maxx better. This car has exceeded my expectations! It has comfortable seats with lots of leg room, sun roofs front and back and the rear seat audio controls and headphones keep the kids busy and happy. The hatch area holds all our stuff. It is a fun car to drive. I like the power steering. Average mileage is 26/33 city/highway. Some dont like the looks of the car but I do. This is a real winner! GM should build it with the new Malibu styling. Now that would be fantastic!
Fun, and stylish "family" car
I was reluctant to get into a "sedan" since I gravitate toward the smaller, zippy foreign economy cars but I kept seeing these new Maxx's around and was struck by how cool they looked from the back. I decided on a whim to give it a test drive. It was so comfortable and felt so much more substantial than the other smaller cars I test drove. I've had it for 6 months now and can say that I'm loving this car. It also gets very decent gas mileage.. Not quite the 28 shown on the sticker..I'm averaging about 26 on the highway, but I'll take that.
