Very Disappointed!
This was by far the worst vehicle I've ever owned. I sold it with 68,000 miles on it. The battery leaked, and it had ECU sensor problems. After having the transmission removed and repaired once, it needed to be replaced. Then, that transmission failed. It wore out three sets of front brake pads and a set of ball joints, aAll in 68,000 miles. This vehicle was driven to and from work daily, not hard miles.
My Baby
I love my baby! It has been the best vehicle that I've ever owned. I hate to part with it, but I managed to have to bad deer collisions within one week, and they are totalling my baby! Get one if you can.

Throwing My Money Away
By far the worst car I have ever owned. I bought it with 80,000 miles on it, and it was great for 15,000 miles and then the problems started. Distributor wires, the infamous EGR valve 3 times, fan clutch, tension pulley, power brake booster, master cylinder, exhaust, etc. Pretty much the same problems as others have with this car. It now sits in my driveway waiting to be fixed again. It has a rough idle and almost stalls, the brakes randomly stop working, and the exhaust sounds horrible. Last time I really drove it was in January. This is the first and last GM vehicle I will ever own.
Fantastic
This car is amazing. It has lasted thirteen years of merciless punishment, and come out spotless. I live in the mountains, and my car has to deal with storms, mudslides, fallen trees, potholes, and deer.
the blaze
have not had many problems with mine. the egr valve stuck open once and i had to put a fuel pump in it but its been good to me with 115,000 miles on it
wish I'd bought a Toyota
One of the poorest vehicle buys I have made: Brakes are terrible, replaced engine due to remote oil filter failure. Electrical problems plauge it. 15 mpg is nothing to write home about. Sways side to side too much. Interior rattles due to poor fit & finish. Plastic trim on exterior falling apart, door hinges broke on driver and passenger side. CD player died. Would not recommend to others.
95 Chevy Blazer
This vehicle has served me well. I have over 270,000 miles on it. The 4.3 motor just keeps running.
like a rock
This has been the best car I have ever owned right after I bought it couple of my friend liked it so much they went out looking for one and one did he bought a 2000 zr2 blazer and now my dad wants one two its just a great all around car I wouldn,t trade it for the world.
Beautiful
With almost 180,000 miles on it my blazer is still running strong. i have never owned another vehicle like it, and other than the usual wear and tear, and normal car maintanence, it has never given me a problem. if you know anything about serviceing cars/trucks, and keep up with your annual services, this is a great vehicle that will last forever. this truck still looks and runs brand new like i just drove it off the showroom floor, and at 180,000 for a domestic vehicle, i'd say its a great value. and coming from a die-hard Nissan fan, Chevy should take this as a great compliment.
Shari review
It is fun to drive, it handles good and is a great vehicle to drive.
This is an expensive car to take care of
I bought a Blazer when I was pregnant with my first child. At first it was comfortable. Not a month went by that the Check Engine LIght didn't come on. This SUV has been in and out of the garage for so many things that we had to open up a savings account just to put money aside for repairs. The 4x4 doesn't work, heater core went twice, ABS is horrible in snow. The only thing I can say is that the leather interior was nice and the outside was sharp looking. The thing just was a money pit and I had to get rid of it.
Good car, likes gas though
This has been a great car, It handles nicely for an SUV, and it runs like a champ. I love the V6 and 4WD, and the leather interior is awesome. It's my black beauty!
10 Years Old & Still Running Strong
With 182,000 miles this car has seved the family exceptionally well. Only a new tranny at 140,000 miles and the usual maintenance. Great in the snow and no problems what so ever with the AWD. Comfort and reliable to the max.
Boo
The worst thing I ever did was buy a beautifully kept up Blazer for a move across country. After over $1,000 in repairs before I got out of town (brakes, brakes, new radiator, brakes again.. egr shmee-g-r, oil change, etc) and another $350 on the road, in the middle of nowhere, for a new fuel pump, the thing lasted only 5 months thru the winter (without 4WD, which wouldnt work) before the engine blew. This car was very well taken care of by the previous owner and myself. Who knew? I knew there was a reason my Dad made that face when I said I was buying a Chevy. I guess after the Citation in the '80's he knew what was up.
Great SUV!
I've owned my Blazer for almost 11 years, and I am the original owner. With 218,000+ miles what can I say? We have had a recurring problem with the EGR valve and oxygen sensor but other than routine repairs we have had no problems. Replaced the main belt at 125,000 miles and finally replaced the muffler system at 210,000 miles. Also replaced the fuel pump at 212,000 miles. Rest of the equipment is still original.
Never Again
This was the worst car I have ever owed. I was stranded many times due do the EGR issue. I have 16 service write-ups for the same issue and this does not include the times I had to immediately return to dealer because problem was not fixed or car died when exiting dealers service area. This vehicle was purchased new and it was a piece of junk. When I finally got rid of it I had to have it towed to the dealer. This was a common problem that GM was aware and they were not helpful.
No Thanks on Blazers
The quality and reliability issues make them not worth the price paid. Very bad value.
Let's see......
I now have 104,000 miles on my Blazer LT. I bought the veh. with 6,000 miles on it and have replaced every thing from wiper motors to fuel injectors. Just when you enjoy a period of peaceful motoring, something crops up! The suv is great in the snow and rides nice. Just wish it were not such a money pit. Would be hard pressed to buy another Blazer. Redesigned or not.
This Truck is the Greatest
Haven't had truck that long, had a few simple fixes (blinkers, rear windsheild wiper motor) and engine has a high idle when at operating temp. Other than that I love that little truck and it packs a lot more power than Explorers. They have no power whatsoever. My Dad has a '93 with 280,000 and tranny just began to slip in overdrive. Amazing trucks
Poor Choice for family vehicle
Anything that could go wrong with this vehicle did go wrong. Although I was religious about regular maintance, there were always problems. Major Transmission problems, Major Brake problems and constant AC problems. I spent a good $3000 a year fixing and refixing the constant problems. I'm not buying another one of these vehicles ever again
Good Looks Bad Personality
The Blazer looks really nice but buyer beware of good looks. I have had to replace the EGR valve twice. I had to have brake work done for 1,500. The transmission needed an overhaul for 2,000. Then the spider on the fuel pump went out. I am not waiting around to find out what will break next. I feel like I should send it off a cliff so no one has to go through all this again.
BLAZERSTILLKICKIN
I have had my Blazer since April of 1995. I have tried to trade the truck 2xs actually purchased a 2001 Pathfinder LE and went to get my Blazer back. The truck has needed maintenance:EGR problems, exhaust, brakes etc--all happened to me after truck was out of warranty--called Chevy to discuss and Chevy did refund part of the bill. This truck has never left me stranded in 8 yrs. It's putted home from NYC to Philadelphia but it always makes it home. Pickup and vortec are powerful. This truck performed better that a Pathfinder with 240 horsepower compared to Blazer's 190. Also terrific gas mileage for an SUV (15" wheels help). I think I'll keep it.
Well...
Lots of power. Reliability left something to be desired (b/c first year for this body style?). Stopping power was atrocious (main reason I got rid of this car). Smooth shifting automatic transmission. If towing heavy trailer (over 2000 lbs), recommend load balancing hitch (rear of car was uncomfortably low with 4600 lb load). Anti-lock brakes sound like a dying moose. Another reason for selling was I missed having a car (better handling, gas mileage).
Nice SUV
Love the 4 wheel drive, and it tows very well with a 3500 lb boat. Trans changed out at about 55000, but that's about all the issues.
She's still a ticking...
An excellent car going on 138K miles. Outside, as well as inside is still looking great-- exterior & interior looks like it just came off the lot. We did have to replace the transmission, fuel pump, water pump, ABS went out (still has power brakes though) and a few other things. ...She's still running good, but I think at 138K miles, she's almost ready for a new engine and a rest home. Overall though, good car and still wouldn't hesitate to take her across the country.
SUV of the Year 1995?
Ist day I owned my new black '95, a fuse blew in the fuse box, killed all the interior lights, dealer said it needed a whole new light "module"--they kept it for 3 weeks with less than 600 miles on it. The part was on back order due to a strike at chevy. When I got it back, the integrity of the interior panels were compromised by removal during repair. There were numerous re-calls on various parts needing replacement. I had never owned a chevy that had been recalled so many times.
pimped vehicle
I have had a good time driving this vehicle and it has been very fun and reliable
Good when running, sucks when not!
Since purchasing the vehicle in 1999 I have had nothing but problems, replacing the transmission (twice),O2 sensors, EGR values, fuel injectors, major repairs to the frontend ... It has caused many of headaces over the years...however when running it is great, rides nice, comfy, lots of room for passengers and parcels.....
95 ST Blazer
The truck still runs like new-very smooth and doesn't use oil, but it's loosing power and that's killing the gas milage. There were actually very few repairs until 140,000 miles and then several very major things went wrong. The egr valve which had been replaced one before, failed again. This time the dealer removed the intake and cleaned the cross over passage which was largly blocked. At the same time he noticed that the fuel regulator (or some related component) was leaking. The entire bill came to $900. ouch. We also had to replace the fuel pump. Twice. Luckly the dealer waranteed the pump the second time. $1,100. ouch.
A great all around SUV
I love my Blazer, it has wonderful power and has more get-up-and-go than my new 4Runner that has 60 more hp. The interior fits perfectly and is comfortable. I also like the truck features like the 4-Lo and the rear hatch door that lays flat like a pick- up. The cargo space and floor length is still unbeatable in a midsize SUV (try finding a midsize SUV with a floor length greater than 6 ft.). Like others, I've had problems with my fuel/exhaust system.. I have replaced the EGR valve and the fuel injector. I have 144,000 miles though and it is still running like a champ. I've never been stranded on the side of the road, and I've never been stuck in snow.
Almost perfect
Bought my Blazer in 1998 and still use as my primary vehicle. Paid $15,000 and it had 32,000 miles on it. I have replaced the transfer case, I am on my third gas tank, 1 alternator, 2 EGR valves, On my 4th fuel pump, 2 batteries, 1 heater core, 1 Engine (my fault), 2 sets of oil cooling lines, 2 front brake jobs, I now have a problem with a fuel sensor, it comes and goes, light comes on and then goes off, runs bad then runs good? Body is rusting now but thats driving up and down the beach all spring, summer and fall plus New England winters. For the most part it starts 99.9 percent of the time and holds lots of snowboards and beach stuff.
Comfortable Ride with Poor Relability
Bought a clean, well maintained car in good shape with 196K and I'm now at 230K. I've replaced:heater control switch,4X4 switch, wiper delay module, complete exhaust (inc. catalytic convertor & 02 sensors), brakes & lines, EGR valve,ECM,ignition wires, cap & rotor, fuel filter & tires. The truck also needs a gas tank & sending unit, front wheel bearing and a driver side door lock. Thank god my boyfriend is a mechanic - otherwise I would hate this car. Parts-wise its costing a fortune. I bought it cheap but I'm paying for it. Don't buy this car used if you want something reliable. Look to something like a Toyota Rav4, I wish I did! A comfortable but expensive ride with poor gas mileage(16-20mpg)
Why did i buy this?
I bought this truck for $2,500 back in 2006. I have put money into it than what I bought it for. Brakes 3 times, and they're going again, water pump, heater core, ABS brakes don't work, 4wd doesn't work. Seat motor died, driver side window motor is dying. Both mirrors don't work electronically. Also, I had to replace my washer fluid pump, but the back windsheild washer still doesn't work, also replaced exhaust. Also, the frame rusts and paint chips off. Bad MPG as well. Word of advice...don't ever ever ever buy one unless you have the money and patience to maintain it
Great first vehicle
This was my first vehicle, and I have not been dissapointed one bit! Interior is nicely designed, it does great in the snow, and it has been very reliable. The only major repair I've had to make is replacing the gas tank after it rotted out from too many Ohio winters. My Blazer does everything I want, and takes me everywhere I need to go.
Needs many improvements
I have to put a lot of money in the car just go keep it in running condition. There always seems to be something wrong with it. I had to replace the transmission, the brakes a couple times, couple electrical problems. replace egr valve and fuel pump. I dont know what's gonna go wrong next.
