Best Car of My Life

I bought this red M3 in Dec 94 (a 1995 model) as my 50th birthday present. This is THE best car I've ever owned! Fun to drive! Totally reliable! Great comfort! Bulletproof mechanically! Very nice trunk (unlike my 911)! Looks like it's speeding while parked. A head turner every day. While I've driven this luxury model over 115,000 miles, it is still a special treat to get inside this and drive it, every day. If I only had one car to drive, every day, for the rest of my life, it would be this BMW car. I currently have half a dozen cars (including a 2003 Mustang SVT "tuned" Cobra), and two BMW motorcycles, but everyday I go out, I instinctively get in the M3 and let it go. Buy one!

1995 BMW M3

To start with this beautiful piece of German engineering, the E36 M3 is a gem. Of coarse coming from a person that has tested some of today's super-cars, The 1995 M3 has been my affordable choice. I purchased this car with 98k miles for an unbeatable price. The first thing I noticed was the purr of the high-performance dual-overhead camshaft S50 motor. Then as the test drive started, I was astonished how a mere 240 hp and 225 ft/lb tq could throw me into the back of the aggressively styled Vader seats. Now the previous owner didn't take the best care of this machine, and due to the negligence, I have to replace the motor, get the interior re-upholstered, etc. but no regrets.

1995 BMW M3 Review

I purchased my M3 four years ago and currently have 111,000. miles on the odometer. The car has been trouble free and a pleasure to own and drive. I have driven many cars and this is certainly one of the best handling cars available at any price. Incredible stability and balance. The 1995 is definitely the best year to go for due to the OBD 1, non staggered wheels, more neutral suspension set up, and less complexity. I highly suggest that you buy the nicest, cleanest example you can find. The extra clean low mileage cars are getting harder and harder to find, and demand a premium price, however an abused or neglected one may very well cost you much more in expensive repairs.

The E36, 5-speed manual, inline 6 is the most fun I have had behind the wheel of a car. I was amazed at how it accelerates even from a lower speed in 5th gear. It is incredibly stable at high speeds (100+ mph) and it comes to a stop on a dime. Never felt more safe and comfortable driving that fast. It shifts beautifully and is incredibly fun to drive. No major mechanical problems and I'm at 160k. Mine in avus blue & the beautifully designed exterior looks incredible - especially after I changed the yellow blinkers on the front corner, side and rear to clear lenses. I think its the best looking car on the road when you have the rear spoiler, sunroof tilted and clean wheels. Highly recommended

The Best Car... Ever.

I have had this 1995 BMW M3 for 50k miles. I've driven it 2300 miles only stopping for gas cross country 3 times (about 35hrs per trip). Its paint is still glossy, the auto shifts and pushes just as hard as the manual version I tested. The driving position is perfect for me (I'm 6ft). I have pushed many cars to their limits, but by far this car has the most crisp handling, strongest braking, smoothest power delivery, and best high speed stability of any car you could buy for 20K and any new car under 35K.

Amazing car. It changed my views on cars. I never realized a car could be so fun. If you take care of it it will take care of you. Buy this car if you want a sporty fun handling car at a reasonable price. The 1995 is different then the 1996 so make your own decision on which you would like to buy

So they raved about this car when it hit the US and man were they spot-on! Having had Z cars, Supra's, and other BMW 3's, this car is the tops. Mine has 242,000 miles and still rocks! Love to take people at work out for lunch, then charge back into the parking lot to show off those great brakes... up to 100mph and stomp on the brakes and listen to folks shriek! Starting to think about an E46 M3, and hope to get the same results with it... we'll see... Yes that silly radiator/water pump thing is a known weak spot, true. But easy to replace every 70,000 miles and go on too. SO... the big question is... why isn't anyone making a car like this today? Currently in a CTS and it only gets 20mpg...:>(

This is an awesome car to drive!! It handles great and accelerates rapidly. Awesome stock stereo system! I have done all the dinan work threw the bmw dealer, and it goes from 0-60 in a bit over 5 sec.. Very fast after all the BMW dinan work is done. When it hits the shop it is high, but there is no other ride like it.

I had a 318IS and loved it then this doctor gave me an op to buy a M3 below 20K I said "Where the keys!!" Drove it, love it, wouldnt trade it for anything except another M3. Tight car handles great and the looks you get it like a kid in a candy store sometimes. So fun driving you don't care what the gas mileage is!! (23 mpg)

Before I got my ///M3, I had a '96 Chrysler Sebring. It was fun to drive and all but after a while the thrill was gone. I wanted something more. Something exciting every time I slid behind the steering wheel. After 6 months of searching, I finally came across my cosmos metallic black Motorsport BMW. I instantly fell in love with it's sharp styling, EXTREMLY responsive throttle, quick steering, and amazing power on tap. The 5-speed transmission is the best I've ever experienced. This is the first German car I've ever owned and I don't think I will ever go back. So, if you love to drive but can't afford a Ferrari, look no further than the BMW M3.

First off, let me say this is a great car but make sure you know who you are buying it from and that they took good care of the car and have records of repairs. Not a car to take chances on unless you really have the wallet for it. Not a straight line bruiser but still fast. Eats V-TEC Hondas all day. Handles like a dream. Especially with the manual transmission. Also note, NO traction control on this car. Not a car to be buying for you teenage child. While a great car, If you have the money, go for the E46 M3

BMW M3-GREAT PERFORMANCE MACHINE

I HAD BEEN LOOKING TO PURCHASE A GOOD USED SPORTS CAR FOR A FEW MONTHS. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND REFERALS(I WORK IN THE CAR BUSINESS) I DECIDED ON A 1995 BMW M3. WHAT A BANG FOR THE BUCK! THE RETAIL NUMBERS ON THESE CARS CAN BE WAY TO HIGH BUT I FOUND A CAR GREAT CAR AND BOUGHT IT AT WHOLESALE. MY CAR CAME EQUIPED WITH THE SPORT PACKAGE WHICH IS A GREAT OPTION. FULL POWER SEATS, WOOD ACCENTS AND M COUNTOUR 17' WHEELS THAT LOOK GREAT. I HAVE INSTALLED A DINAN STAGE 1 CHIP THAT GAVE IT A SLIGHT BOOST IN POWER AND A NICE 200-300 RPM BUMP. KEEPING IT STOCK HAS HELPED IT STAY VERY RELIABLE. THIS IS A GREAT FUNCTIONAL SPORTS CAR!

Not only is this car still fast in today's high horespower world, handle like nothing else, and stop on a dime, it has given me 50,000 miles of trouble free service and gets in the mid twenties economy. What more can you ask from in a car? No matter how hard I drive the car, including occasional track events, it refuses to give me any real trouble, even at 165,000 miles on the odometer! I would recommend this car to anyone in a second.

This car was described as a point and go sports coupe. At 5.2 secs 0-60 and a very quick 60-110+ it really goes. It handles like its stuck to the road. Have had zero problems with it in 5+ years

Review perspective: home mechanic/enthusiast. VERY EASY car to maintain if you DIY (note: dealer maintenance = expensive). The '95 is the one to get (if you can find one with low enough miles) because it's OBD I. After '95, it's OBD II (harder to retrieve fault codes for, more expensive to mod power-wise). Known issues: poor waterpump (aftermarket = better); RTABs, rear shocks & RSMs may be worn after only 50k miles if owner drove hard; thermostat may stick open; radiator neck. The M is more solidly built than the regular 3 series. An M3 in "fair" shape may indicate abuse. The M division built this car for one purpose, and it wasn't for grocery shopping.

I purchased my M3 from a small dealership that features mostly BMW's; it had 108,000 miles on it.They had done a major update - new clutch, brakes (slotted roters) Bilsteins, new BBS wheels and tires, Turner chip, lowering sport springs, Pioneer cd unit. In short this car was ready to rock. And rock it does. I belong to BMWCCA and M3s dominate the track, out of the box they are a slot car but with a few mods (chip, hiflow intake, strutbar) what a rush :-). The 95 is the one to buy; OB1'& ease of adding mods.

few auto companies have the distinction of making an affordable top performance car. BMW has been doing it for decades. I promise you this... the M line is the best all-round car series of any manufacturer. The silky shifting of the manual digging through a turn, confident in leaning on that outside front tire, will pressure your nervous system into buying your mind that exhilaration that you've always wanted. aside, the E36 M3 is the most popular of the M line for a reason. The low body, hard lines wrapped and melding with sexy curves, 50/50 weight, and ohhhh that long hood will make you yearn for an open, yet not too straight, lay of asphalt. World reknown for a reason.

The M3 is one of the best cars I have owned. It is tremendous fun to drive, with lots of power and terrific handling. I bought it instead of a Porsche 911 and am very happy I did. A spoiler makes the aesthetics even better. I also have enjoyed the built-in high persormance radar. The trunk holds two sets of golf clubs, so it has been perfect for games with a friend. While it works best as a two person car, the rear seats are big enough to comfortably take children in car seats.

These cars handle like a train on rails there grip on dry pavement is nothing short of amazing ,Mine has the US S50 b30 and a few performance upgrades such as AA exauhst AA chip AA x brace and tower brace front and rear ,They sit low in the front so caution is needed while going over bumps curbs and back roads. The acceleration paired with the 315 LSD rear diff gives you enuff low end torque to drift the car at will in first 2 gears and with the chip there is a little more umph with a 7400 rpm red line instead of the 6800 from factory, The bad it seems too burn a little oil and the CCV is an issue as well as the factory oil pump bolt wanting too back off unknown too the driver,I've yet too experience this and hope I dont!! Car has tremendous entering and lots of comfort rides smooth for such a rigid car, The value is impeccable if you can pick one up I definitely suggest buying quickly as price is going up and nothe down. I LOVE MY 95 M3

I purchased this car with 110k miles. I have driven it VERY hard for another 8k without a single problem. No telling this car is 14 years old! Beats cars that are brand new, handles like it's brand new, no rattles, no major mechanical issues. Well, a few, but I expected to put between 500-1000 into the car immediately and then 1000-2000 over the first year and it's been much less, even with an accident. I ran the car off the road pushing it to it's limit and all it had was a bent control arm, these cars are solid! It's the 4th bmw I've owned and first M3. Couldn't be happier, I'm just worried about tickets. :)
