2014 Los Angeles Auto Show: 2016 Audi A7 (FAQ)

2014 Los Angeles Auto Show

What Is It?
2016 Audi A7

What's New About This Model?
The 2016 Audi A7 gets some minimal, but noticeable, changes for the 2016 model year. These changes include a slightly changed front and rear with new LED headlights, LED taillights and trapezoidal tailpipes.

When Does It Go on Sale?
Expect the streets to be flooded with new A7s and their trapezoidal exhaust pipes in the spring of 2015.

How Much Does It Cost?
Audi isn't spilling those details just yet, but expect a slight bump from current prices. Today, an A7 will cost you $65,900 while the top-dog, gasp-inducing RS 7 starts at $106,500.

How Many Body Styles and Trim Levels Are There?
The 2016 Audi A7 is available as a sort of four-door hatchback that's often referred to as a four-door coupe for some reason. It'll be available in A7, S7 and wicked RS 7 trims. All variants have automatic transmissions and all-wheel drive.

What Kind of Engines and Transmissions Does It Have?

  • 3.0-liter supercharged V6 — 333 horsepower, 325 pound-feet of torque
  • 3.0-liter diesel V6 — 240 hp, 428 lb-ft of torque
  • 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 — 560 hp, 516 lb-ft of torque
  • Seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission
  • Eight-speed automatic transmission

What Unique Features Does It Offer?
The 2016 Audi A7 is available with every feature you'd expect from a high-end luxury sedan. What makes this one really unique (besides the mind-warping performance of the RS 7) is the way this car looks. It's stunning.

What Models Will It Compete Against?
BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe: The BMW Gran Coupe seems to be easily forgotten, but it shouldn't be. In person, the four-door version of BMW's big coupe has serious road presence, and with six- and eight-cylinder engines and rear- or all-wheel drive, there's likely a 6 Series to fit your needs. There's also the 560-hp $115,700 M6 Gran Coupe to rival the RS 7.

Mercedes-Benz CLS: The CLS started this whole "four-door coupe" thing and it's still one of the most visually interesting cars on the road. And while there are normal models, the most interesting is the all-wheel-drive, 5.5-liter, 577-hp CLS63 AMG that'll set you back $106,000.

Should You Wait for It?
The 2016 Audi A7 is a minor evolution on what is still a very good car. You won't be disappointed if you buy a 2015 before this one hits lots early next year.
