2015 BMW X6 M

What's New About This Model?
After surprising shoppers with its combination of performance, style and comfort, the X6 M is back again for a second generation. This time around it gets an even more powerful version of the twin-turbo V8 used in the original version along with a new eight-speed automatic, revised styling and improved efficiency.

When Does It Go on Sale?
BMW says the X6 M will arrive in March of 2015.

How Much Does It Cost?
Base price for the BMW X6 M is $103,050.

How Many Body Styles and Trim Levels Are There?
The 2015 BMW X6 M comes as a four-door SUV only. There is only one well-equipped trim level, but as with most BMWs, the options list will be extensive.

What Kind of Engines and Transmissions Does It Have?

  • 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 — 567 horsepower, 553 pound-feet of torque
  • Eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Standard all-wheel drive

What Unique Features Does It Offer?
Like its sibling, the X5 M, the X6 M offers a new BMW lap timer app that gives owners the ability to track and store various performance parameters in their smartphone. Data such as lateral acceleration, speed, gear selection and steering angle can all be downloaded and displayed for further review following a lap on a racetrack.

If a racetrack seems like an odd place for an SUV, consider that the X6 M is capable of going from zero to 60 mph in 4 seconds flat according to BMW.

What Models Will It Compete Against?
Land Rover Range Rover Sport: With up to 550 hp available from its range of supercharged V8 engines, this high-performance SUV has the ability to keep up with any of its competitors. It also has the unique ability to offer a surprising level of off-road ability at the same time.

Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG: This luxury SUV also boasts a turbocharged V8 with more than 500 hp. All-wheel drive is standard as well, along with a luxurious interior and unique styling.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo: With 520 hp, this Cayenne has the kind of power to keep up with any of its high-powered competitors. A very capable chassis makes it surprisingly agile for its size, while the interior offers all the luxury you would expect in a six-figure SUV as well.

Should You Wait for It?
This is one of the most unique performance SUVs around, and the fact that it now has even more power and refined styling adds to its appeal. If it suits your style, waiting until March will be worth it.
