Worst Car Experience Ever - Avoid!

2022 Acura MDX 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 10A)

I have never in my life experienced a car with so many ongoing issues. Truly, I bought a premium, expensive lemon, in every sense of the word. I am currently in a months-long dispute with Honda/Acura working on a buyback, and they have been impossible to work with, fighting me every step of the way to the point where I had to hire a lawyer and get the State Attorney General involved to get them to take my case seriously and consider the lemon law buyback. My car has been leaking significant amounts of water into the trunk since I bought it in 2021. The car now permanently smells like mildew and the body of the car beneath the trunk is completely rusted from water damage. The dealership had my car for months at a time, making many attempts to fix the leaks, finding multiple manufacturer defects, and even flying in a "specialist" to try to fix it for good. After returning it to me several times saying it was fixed, water continues to collect in my trunk after any rain storm. When I attempted to bring it back, they said they would continue to try to look at it, but refused to offer me a loaner car or assistance for a rental car, leaving me with no car, after paying a premium price for this one. Avoid this car and Acura/Honda at all costs! I will never buy one again. I can assure you.

Best driving and riding luxury SUV yet. Fit and finish is good quality and styling is right on! Well appointed and good blue in comparison with other makes. Excellent warranty and quality.

Underwhelmed

I was so excited to get the new MDX and have had so many issues. I finally received my car in Oct 2021 after shipment issues and they couldn’t install all the features due to back order. At first I was looking at three weeks but that turned to five months so shame on the dealer. I was angry! I had already paid for the stuff so I said forget some of it and give me money back. Within 3,000 miles I had a steering motor go out, charger stop working, Apple play and navigation issues, updates not sent. Windows and and moonroof not open or close, and the auto opener on the back works intermittently. It is not the smooth and quiet ride I test drive either and some parts don’t fit tight around the doors and the key pad sticks in hot and humid weather. I’ve been less than impressed overall for the cost and most likely not consider again. I love the look and comfort and room, but I could have paid 20,000 less for that!

I bought this car about 2 weeks ago. Right before the car was ready for me,they told me the ac was not working, but later they told me, that was freon that it needed. I took the car home ,only to discover 2 weeks later that the ac was not working Properly. I will take it to the dealer again. I took it to the dealer and they told me they need to change a part. They change the part and now the ac is working great. This car is beautiful and its rides excellent .

I have now leased a new 2022 MDX with Tech pkg for 18 months. I am a bit disappointed in the tech this model offers. One, I can't read the small infotainment screen during the day. Sure its 12 inches, but that is the diagonal dimension. It is only some 5 or 6 inches from top to bottom and 1/4 of screen is partitioned so you don't get the full 12 inches for your nav system. Just not bright enough to see the screen during the day when the sun is shining. The laptop system to move around the screen is a joke. You have to look away from the road to see what you are doing on the touch pad to be able to see the screen. Not a very safe thing to do. I think the ergonomics is poorly laid out. There are no areas for trays to put anything when you are driving. I had a Honda Pilot that I traded in for the MDX. I got better mileage and much quicker acceleration with the Pilot. Substantially better performance. Like 1 second faster to 60 mph, and 1.5 mpg better whether in city or on the hwy. You have to use high test gas on the MDX and don't get the results of high performance. Now I will say the MDX is a firmer ride, better handling and more luxury than my old Pilot. Is that enough to buy again? Not for me. Sorry. Ok, now that I have lived with my MDX for 3 plus years I have enjoyed the quiet tide, great handling and a very good cruiser on highway. The problem reading infotainment screen was solve by me getting cataracts surgery. I still dislike using pad on console for media screen. Nav system free update just doesn't work. Had dealer try, still can't do. Has a great resale value, so I purchased my MDX after lease expired. Will drive another year b4 replacement. I now have owned my mdx for 4 years. Have enjoyed the great ride and decent mileage. 21 mpg city and 27 mpg on hwy..Terrific handling. A great cruiser on trips. I traded mdx in after 4 years and received $3,000 more than what I purchased it for off lease one year ago. So overall, I would highly recommend the mdx for it's great handling, enjoyable ride and dependable performance. The new mdx has fixed the poorly designed controls for the multimedia system.
