Awesome SUV
The base model of this SUV is loaded. I love the way it looks and as someone that drives 70 miles a day I not only wanted a vehicle that looked great, but also performed great, comfortable and enjoyable to drive. This 2022 Acura MDX hit all the marks for me.

terrible
I have had the car for 5 months and it has been in the shop 6 times for fuel pump issues. The car feels sluggish, which may be related to fuel pump issues. The engine sounds noisey and weak. I usually wait for bugs to be worked out on new or updated models, but since I already had a 2013 Honda Pilot and had really no major problems, I decided to make a leap of faith and purchase this updated model. Big mistake.

No audio connection
I bought this car because I fell in love with it, when I first saw it. I am so disappointed now. I have a brand new luxury car for which I paid around $57,000.00 and after a couple of weeks of driving it, the audio connection doesnt work. This means, no radio, no phone, no sound at all. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the battery (really?) anyway they changed the battery and the sound did work for a month and then it started again. It is on and off, sometimes I have audio and sometimes I dont. I took it in twice more, they have no idea what is going on. The last time they said Acura is going to release an update that will fix it (when? I dont know). Now I am stuck with a brand new car with NO AUDIO CONNECTION. Very very upset with it. Do not buy!!

Everything is great except the stock tires.
Overall this is a great family car. I’ve driven it 10,000 miles and the reliability has been perfect though that is what you’d hope for. I love the technology, the ride, the looks, and how practical the cargo space is. Love the removable middle seat. With my family of three kids that is a game changing feature that makes the car so flexible. The third row is also very usable for kids up to about 12. I also like the cargo area flexibility and in particular love how you can turn the area behind the third row into a deeper cargo well rather than one that is flush with the door or turn it into secure storage for camera equipment or a computer, etc. In my old cars things would just roll out the back if I was parked on our steep driveway. I also really like the tech. The touchpad is much better than reviewers give it credit for. Once you are used to it, which doesn’t take long, it is much nicer than a touchscreen where you have to reach far and is easy to use. I think giving both a touchpad and a touchscreen have been nice for them. I also like the ambient lighting. The SHAWD is fun. The car can give you some easily controlled oversteer. The engine is also very smooth and responsive though lacking in low end torque. I appreciate that most of the controls are physical buttons. To me that is much better than the touchscreen setup in our Audi. What I don’t love is the crazy amounts of tire noise on some surfaces on the OEM tires. On OEM tires this car is louder than my 10 year old Honda or any other car I ever owned on the wrong surfaces. I swapped out the tires at 8500 miles and the problem became much better with the car becoming much more pleasant at highway speeds on rough surfaces. Now the noise is acceptable on all surfaces. There are many complaints on Acura forums about the tires and many others who have swapped them out and found that made the car more quiet. I don’t know what Acura was thinking. On some surfaces the stock tires were fine but on concrete freeways the noise was really bad. Other than that my complaints are minor. I think they could have done a better job of creating interior storage for small items. For instance an RDX style open area below the console. I also wish they used less glossy trim.

Lousy interior lighting, Rock Hard tires,
After having a 2015 and a 2018 we couldn't wait for the all new 2022 and when one became available we bought it. It is absolutely stunning. Well with that said the engineers?, outdid themselves on 27 interior lighting schemes, and bypassed the important part, interior lighting. This 22 MDX has 2 firefly lights in the overhead console that require you to look up to see if they are on. Drop something on the passenger side floor at night, forget it till it is daytime and then you may have trouble seeing your dropped item. The next mistake they did was with the tires. They built a Luxury car with an all new front suspension to cradle the passengers with a smooth quiet ride and then put tires on it with xtra heavy sidewalls (to give better handling they say) and a brand that is notorious for being noisy, IMO. Then they make a model (Type S advance)specifically to do what they did to ruin the Luxurious MDX Advance. So sad! One other gripe, Interior- Exterior color choice combinations. Lord forbid you would like a grey interior in a white exterior. White and black exteriors should be able to have any interior color Acura offers. With all that said, we still will try to enjoy this beautiful vehicle, for a couple years.
