Overview
Stately, elegant and fitted with some of the most lavish interior decor you'll find in an automobile, the 2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II is a serious sight to behold. At nearly 18 feet in length, this ultra-luxury sedan is one of the longest vehicles on the road — and that's just the standard version. The extended-wheelbase version of the Ghost stretches almost 7 more inches.
Cost to DriveCost to drive estimates for the 2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II 4dr Sedan (6.6L 12cyl Turbo 8A) and comparison vehicles are based on 15,000 miles per year (with a mix of 55% city and 45% highway driving) and energy estimates of $4.45 per gallon for premium unleaded in Ohio.

The Ghost's interior is, as you'd expect, magnificent. There is nearly flawless build quality everywhere you look and there are a number of exclusive features to choose from. There's an optional refrigerator for your Champagne flutes, for example, or foldout picnic tables. Not impressed? How about a Starlight LED headliner or personalized monogrammed headrests?
Given this, it's understandable then that the Ghost is one of the most expensive vehicles on the road. But in the immortal words of Ferris Bueller: If you have the means, we highly recommend picking one up.
Which Ghost Series II does Edmunds recommend?
If you're looking for a luxury sedan with the ultimate level of opulence, we recommend the Ghost Extended Wheelbase (EWB). On top of being one of the most exclusive vehicles on the road, the EWB adds more interior space, massaging rear seats and an upgraded infotainment system.
2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II models
The 2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II is a five-passenger luxury sedan offered in standard-wheelbase Ghost (SWB) or Ghost Extended Wheelbase (EWB) versions. The EWB adds almost 7 inches between front and rear wheels for more rear passenger space. Both models are powered by a turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 (563 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque). Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission that uses satellite data to help determine gear selection.
The long list of standard features for the Ghost includes:
- Adaptive LED headlights
- Panoramic sunroof
- Air suspension
- Power-closing rear doors
Inside you'll find:
- Full leather upholstery on seats, door and instrument panels, and center console
- Massaging front seats
- Wi-Fi, a navigation system and a 10.3-inch display
The EWB Ghost ratchets up the luxury level with massaging rear seats and upgraded infotainment features.
A special Black Badge subtrim adds:
- A black trim treatment inside and out (even the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament gets the dark chrome treatment)
- Special steering and suspension tuning
- An increase in power to 603 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque
There are several option packages and seemingly endless ways to personalize your Ghost, including (but not limited to):
- Lambswool floor mats
- Duck-feather cushions
- Monogram-stitched headrests
- Massage and ventilation functions for the rear seats
- LED-infused headliner
- Rear seat cooler specifically designed for two Champagne bottles and Champagne flutes
- Foldout tables for the rear seats

Everything I expected and more
MB, 09/07/2020
2016 Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II 4dr Sedan (6.6L 12cyl Turbo 8A)
The car is smooth, quiet, and rides exceptionally well. The paint is stunning; the coachline is a treasure, and the interior is beyond belief in terms of how everything looks, feels, and works. Of course it is -- that's what Rolls-Royce is all about.
What I *didn't* expect was how satisfying this car is to drive. It offers stunning acceleration (especially if you floor it when … merging onto a highway). I expected the handling to be "ponderous"; what I got was "responsive".
It's big and it's heavy and there's no hiding that. But in its element -- high-speed highway driving -- it's exquisite. It comports itself well enough on back roads, too, making it an all-round delight. You won't confuse this with a Miata (I have one, so I know); think more like a big BMW sedan (like a Five Series).
I lucked out in that my car has the Dynamic Driving Package. Not sure how big a difference it makes, I just know that this car is surprisingly fun to drive in any situation.
The features and options just add to the enjoyment. The Bespoke Audio system merits special mention. From Mozart to Madonna, the sound is awesome. Solid bass and clear highs.
I've had the car for almost a week, and the reality is setting in about what this car is and does. And it's looking like the reality will be even better than the anticipation.
Updated: I've now had the car for about six months. I'm still finding new things to experience. RR doesn't do "Sport" mode, but the transmission stalk has a small button that says "Low". It adjusts the shift programming for more aggressive performance. I *think* it also locks out eighth gear. The times I've tried it, the acceleration is stunning. I continually find myself thinking "something this big shouldn't go this fast this quickly!"
Updated: I've now had the car for almost four years. It's still everything I've said before. And I can add that it's been perfect. Other than annual oil changes (which are eye-wateringly expensive), the car has needed no attention or repairs.
We have a limited number of reviews for the 2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II, so we've included reviews for other years of the Ghost Series II since its last redesign.
