There was a time not too long ago that BMW was emphatic that no model bearing the M badge would ever employ turbocharging. So much for that. Though the X5 and X6 were the first BMW vehicles to get the turbocharged M treatment, the wonderful 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe is the first car. With its compact dimensions and lighter weight, it's a return to M's roots while that turbocharged engine speaks to its future. To see just what sort of horsepower and torque this 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-6 puts to the wheels, we brought it to the MD Automotive Dynojet chassis dyno.
