- The Ford Transit Skyliner Concept, a luxury van built by Galpin Auto Sports, will make its formal debut on April 16 at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
- The Transit Skyliner Concept is designed to meet the needs of limousine and high-end transportation services.
- The cabin gets a built-in bar, movable custom-designed "throne" seats and a 52-inch retractable movie screen.
Galpin Ford is the world's largest Ford dealership and has a history of customizing vehicles.
"Ford approached Galpin for this project because the group was at the forefront of the customized van trend of the late 1960s and 1970s and was among the pioneers in launching the conversion van industry," Ford said in a statement.
The Transit Skyliner Concept is designed to meet the needs of limousine and high-end transportation services.
Ford said the concept illustrates the "unlimited flexibility, versatility and capability of the all-new Transit, which goes on sale this summer."
The 2015 Ford Transit will offer two wheelbases, three roof heights and three powertrains.
"Galpin is especially excited about the launch of the Transit, which builds on Ford's commercial van leadership with a new design, making it the perfect platform from which to modify," said Galpin Auto Sports President Beau Boeckmann.
The exterior of the Transit Skyliner Concept features a custom silver metallic paint scheme and custom Forgiato wheels.
The interior can be configured in four modes — theater, business, reception and travel.
The cabin gets a built-in bar, movable custom-designed "throne" seats and a 52-inch retractable movie screen. Sliding doors open 4 feet wide for easy entertaining while parked at an event.
A set of custom luggage that matches the leather-trimmed seats rounds out the package.
Edmunds says: The ultimate expression of a custom Ford Transit.
